All Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa All Inclusive Package Customer Reviews
Stayed 5 nights and had a very nice time. If you're looking to party and lots of activities, this might not be the place for you. We were looking for a quiet retreat to just be beach bums and chill. Fit the bill perfectly since we went just before peak season starts. We would go back here in a heartbeat. Pros, the place is super clean and well maintained. Gorgeous hotel, lush landscaping and the staff was amazing. They gave us all kinds of information and guidance to get around on our own. Ocean in the front of the hotel and the rain forest and mountains behind it...amazing views Half of the resort is Margaritaville.. with a 5 O'clock somewhere bar that has good drinks and fantastic food...though very pricey if you are not all inclusive. Expect to pay double what you are used to for food in the States...it is an island, ya know. We strongly suggest..if you want to have some drinks and eat at least twice a day...go all inclusive here!! Also, near the activity pool is the Sea-breeze bar....with fair like mahi tacos, burgers, etc. Casino on site but, pretty small and since locals go in just for the casino..can get crowded and have to wait for a machine. No biggie. The buffet at the "main" restaurant had odd open and closed times but, was very good. The actual buffet part was only available once for breakfast, so they let us order off the menu the rest of the time and it was great. Again..very pricey if not all inclusive. Two other restaurants were onsite but, one was closed for the season. We never tried the other. You also have access to the Country Club on site for dinner..a shuttle will take you there and pick you up. Very good food. Not part of the all inclusive but, worth the trip...is Richie's. Concierge will call a shuttle and be there in 10 mins to take you and bring you back. Fabulous food...and the view ....breathtaking. Mark and Robert are so cool, they really made our dinner fun. It's pricey but, so worth it. Same place owns a convenience store just a mile away and will take you if you need stuff for free! Though tips are customary, gas is high there. There is one pool for activities/water slide/games and kids and one adult only pool....the adult pool was a huge selling point for us. Again, we came to chill. Beach is very nice and clean..always chairs available and the water is nice enough to swim in most of the time. Nice gift shop on site and Enterprise car rental. Driving in PR is super easy though expect traffic at typical times.. 8AM and 5-6PM. We drove ourselves to Old San Juan and it was a breeze! Don't be afraid to drive in PR... do it. Parking near the tourist areas is tricky... if you can't find a parking garage then expect to parallel park in very tight spaces...we suggest a compact car. Forgo the SUV unless you have a large party with you. you get an adjustable and removable armband that is also your room key...we liked that a lot. Safe for the pool..swam with it on, no issues. there is a small bistro inside that has excellent coffee, pastries, and things like pizza, sandwiches open very late. (not part of all inclusive) Try the quesarito and the guava "ribs" pastry....super good. And try mofongo at Richies...or the country club, crazy good! El Yunque national rain forest is just a short ride away.. you can zip line through the treetops! San Juan has some amazing forts to visit and lots of unique shops as well as stuff like Coach, Chopard, Guess, Ben & Jerry's..the standard US stuff. PR Spanish is (for obvious reasons) a bit different from the Spanish we learn in the states but, we never HAD to use it... just did it as a sign of respect. But, trying earns their respect and helps you read the road signs when driving. Cons... pretty minor stuff but, just being honest. the resort is new to the "all inclusive" and was a little confusing as to where and what you could have there. We were limited to certain items off the menu. Everything we had was great but, sometimes the main restaurant was closed when it was supposed to be open. Again, there are other options so..no biggie. Unlike all the other all inclusive places we've been.... you still have to wait for the check and sign. Pool closed at around 7 or 8PM. Would be nice if was open later. They only give you two bottles of water upon arrival.. that's it. The rest you are getting on your own and there was no mini fridge to store drinks in. Top floor rooms ..have no cover on the balcony and since it rains off and on a lot in May, it was kinda useless to us. No biggie..we just went downstairs and sat outside. Hot water in the mornings..can take a few minutes and we were in low season. You can eat and drink at the Margaritaville bar but, the pool, swim-up bar, hammocks on that side are for those staying on the Margaritaville side only. Wasn't an issue for us, just be aware you will be --very nice and politely-told and expected to leave. it's the only swim up bar and hammocks on the property. Expect to get up and get your own drinks...we only had a pool waiter one day and only came by twice the whole day. Again..minor but, worth mentioning so you know what to expect. Over all, I'd give the place 4.5 stars. If they made the all inclusive a little easier, streamlined the dinning times a bit and had a few more options, I'd probably give it 5. When you are there for more than 6 days, the options can get kinda redundant unless you head to Richie's or hit up the Kiosko's down the road in Luquillo. The staff is ....great. BE respectful and clam...(as you should be anyways.) Being high handed will not get you far in PR!! These people are real and will look you in eye.. fell in love with talking to them and they made our trip extra fun and memorable. We really like it here.

The place is very nice and well kept. The staff was friendly and attentive. For an all-inclusive, the food exceeded my expectations. I do feel that management could make the all-inclusive option much more simpler for the guests and staff. Even though we were given very clear instructions on what was and wasn't included, many of the staff were unsure. Too often we were having to have conversations with the staff about this which led to them checking with their manager. In one instance we were charged a $70 up charge for a meal when the waiter told us it would be $20. Overall I was very happy with the trip and the service we received. Hopefully management can tweak things to make it perfect for future guests.

The resort property was beautiful and very well maintained. Service was good with very helpful staff. When we arrived for our all-inclusive stay, we found out that there were a couple of restaurants and a bar that were not included. The package also did not include premium liquor. But all in all, a delightful vacation on a pristine beach, with stunning views and enough activities close by to satisfy even the most adventurous traveler.

Spent a long weekend on the property for a surprise 40th birthday party. Had a group of 9 and we did the all-inclusive program. It is my understanding that they just started this program and you could tell. Seemed like the policies where changing daily. It did not include top shelf liquor or beer. Did not include drinks that had two liquors in them. Also did not include tips. It was not a 24 hour all you can eat. You got two breakfast, two lunches and two dinners per room. With that being said, we got plenty of food and 90 percent of it was excellent. The grounds and the beach are some of the best that I have seen. Water was a great temp and just rough enough to have fun while you were in it, but I never felt unsafe. I thought the resort was very nice, just do your research so you know what it is you are getting when you book.

My boyfriend and I opted for the all inclusive plan. There were restaurants that we were not able to go to (or had to pay extra) and we were unable to use the swim up bar with our plan. We spent way too much money in tips just to get attention and some servers were rude. We still had a good time but not so sure we will ever go back.

First let me start by saying, the staff is very friendly and quite accomadating. The beach was beautiful and they have chairs and umbrellas available to use at no cost. However they do start to pick them up between 4 and 5 pm and they do not care if ur using them, they will take them!! Same at the pool they lower umbrellas at a certain time, i seen one of the guys do it without even saying anything initially! However the pools are all very nice and clean!! Now i had the all inclusive package, apparently its pretty new so everyone didnt have it and all the staff was not very clear on what was and what was not included. Which i was unaware of. Also im use to going to an all inclusive resort and everything being all inclusive, will its not!! It was pretty annoying having to always ask or wonder if i was sticking to the package! There are quite a few areas that are all inclusive but no premium liquor is included so make sure they know u r all inclusive. The breakfast buffet was very good tasting, however the variety is the same everyday. The burgers at the seabreeze bar near the pool are awesome!!! The 5 0clock pool bar does not include food or drinks in the package, which i thought was horrible, also of the 3 pools i felt this one should have been the all adult pool since it is more seperated from the others and has the swim up bar!! At about 10pm everything pretty much shuts down except the bar near the lobby and casino stay open a little later but only on the weekends. Not really a place to go if u looking to party, u can go to san juan, which we did go to a really nice club, but the cab was $150. They recommend you rent a car, but then u also have to pay to park everyday, so i guess it depends on what u plan to do as far as what would work better for you. Also after a certain time there is no where you can even get a snack, something to eat or drink, not even a snack machine. I get thirsty at night so this was horrible for me and we had to rooms, our room with the king bed did bot have a fridge, thank god the kids room with the double beds did have one!! The balcony is nice with a great view of the beach and pool. Also if you plan to do excursions book ahead!! Unlike most resorts the people are usually there to help book and the prices are the same as what cheap carribean shows you, however they do not, they have other people there and the prices are increased even more, its ridiculous!! What we found is that calling the places ourselves and catching a cab wr saved over $200 for 4 people then even what cheap careibean offered. However, there is a little waiting involved, always call ahead and get appropriate timing of the adventures you want to do!! The rooms were really nice and clean and the room cleaning daily was great!! Overall its a nice resort but i think they could do a bit more to make it more convient for the guests who have this option, i was not happy about that and of course at the end i had to get adjustments to my bill, because the billed me for stuff they shouldnt, however they did fix it with no problem, but i just didnt want to have to go through it!! Overall a nice resort though...

I enjoyed the resort,it was very clean and worth every penny.I only gave the beach and pool a 4 because my husband and i was so busy with the excursions that we really didn't get to spend time on the beach or at the pool.but we did try it out for a short period of time and it was good.We got the all exclusive package and it was great. The employees was on point awesome. The food was terrific especially at the iguanas pub img to dye for.The shuttle service was great runs every 15mins as well as the casino was nice...we stay 4days 3 nights.next time we will stay linger and try out the other things they have on the resort. But our overall experince was to die for.

Have been on all inclusive trips before, but this is more of a well maybe it's inclusive. We could only eat at certain restaurants and only if they where open. Not all foods were included on the lists. Surcharges at two restaurants were higher than meals that my wife are I are accustomed to eating. No microwave or small fridge in room. We were only allowed to drink the cheaper wines, liquors, and beer. Made to feel like 2nd class citizens though we had paid extra for the trip. Resort was nice and were the beaches. Hiking in the rain forest was a great experience as was the bio bay in Fajardo. Will definitely stay somewhere else should we decide to return to PR. Expected more from Wyndham

While on the outside it looks great!! New nice fancy redone rooms a beautiful beach outside, but don't be fooled. I will list why I would avoid this place as an all inclusive destination. Severely limited to food options many nights you can only eat at one place. Amazingly poor food, we actually stopped at Wendy's off resort for lunch. I was actually fed a rotten piece of meat which I of course returned. It will take you an hour to get your meals when you do decide to eat here. Don't intend to be waited on. Since you are a guest you need to do everything no drinks by the pool, no waiter on the beach. If could get my week or vacation back I would gladly give them the money I paid again... Please don't make the same mistake I did. This place is going downhill fast

Overall, I had a nice time at Wyndham. I was there from a Monday to Friday, so I can't speak for what the weekend crowd and entertainment had to offer during the weekends. What I can say is that the food options were good because of the Iguana's Pub and the hotel bar, both included in the all inclusive package. Both served very delicious food and cocktails. As far as the poolside bar, the 5 O'Clock Somewhere bar (which is for the Margaritaville Vacation Club) was wonderful for drinking poolside with their swimup bar and enjoying live entertainment (but know: this is not always included in the all inclusive package through Wyndham - I would call the hotel directly and find out first if it is before booking if poolside drinking is important to you). If this bar wasn't included in the all-inclusive package, I think my opinion of the value of the place would have changed for me because I spent a decent amount of time relaxing there and highly enjoyed the drinks and food. I didn't particularly like the Seabreeze pool bar there, but that could just be because I wasn't there during the weekend when it is the most busy and most fun. There are a lot of excursion options. We rented a car through enterprise (located on site at the Wyndham) and booked excursions with companies directly to save money - this is something I would highly recommend doing. The hotel will have brochures so you can do this. However, I would totally recommend getting the shuttle service to/from the airport since the hotel is in a no taxi zone. Old San Juan is about 45 mins away - having our own car made it easy for us to enjoy a day trip out to there! The beaches are really nice and well kept, as were the rooms and amenities. There is also a beautiful golf course on the premises. Not to mention the rain-forest is right outside the door! Make sure you bring comfortable shoes or watershoes to enjoy it! The staff was also very polite and welcoming. I would definitely recommend going to a friend!
