All Viva Wyndham V Samana Customer Reviews
Spent 5 nights at Viva Wyndham V Samana the last week of April 2016. In short, my wife and I just weren't impressed or wowed. We regularly compared our stay to another resort we had been to and that said a lot right there. Room: we got the Vibe room with the dipping pool. We liked it. Clean and spacious enough. No where comfortable to sit other than the bed. But there A/C controls were broken. It was either an ice box or it was off. All the rooms are closer to dining areas than they are to the beach. Pictures imply otherwise. When sitting on the patio, it always felt a little exposed and not private at all. Beach - beautiful. Best part of the place. pools were fine, but we were there for the beach. Dining.. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason when restaurants were open or closed. The best place the Mar y Fuego, was closed out right the first night and closed for a special event twice during the week. May not have been upsetting had there been any notice of this from anyone when we arrived. Fusion was fine. Possibly the second best... the Mediterranean place, just avoid it. Not worth it. The buffet was also not worth it considering Fusion and Fuego are included. The buffet wasn't bad, just nothing special. Excursions and things.. Maybe cause they just opened and they haven't set up all possible excursion offerings, but there were like a total of 5 things they offered to help set up. Sail boats.. they dont' let you take out a hobie by yourself. A sports guy sails and you're just passengers... disappointing. Staff... friendly, but not very helpful. I don't think, at an all inclusive, tipping should be needed for average service. But those that were tipping definitely got attention while those that weren't' were ignored. We gave up on their house wine as soon as we found out there was a wine list to choose from. Yeah, we paid extra, but what ever grape juice they served was horrible enough to have us splurge on real wine. Gotta ask for the list though! gotta ask! So.. our stay was nothing special... Food was OK and the best food was closed half the time. Beach was beautiful, best part of the place... Staff friendly but not helpful... rooms nice, but too near crowds and little privacy.

Beach was beautiful and not commercialized, which was great! The pool was big, clean and inviting. The activity staff, waitresses and bartenders were wonderful, funny, and accommodating. My biggest let-down for the trip was that we wanted to use a coupon for a free excursion for horse-back riding, advertised as offered by the hotel, but we were not permitted to use it. The excursion director said it was only for customers who booked on another vacation website. However, nothing stated in the terms and conditions on the coupon indicated this. The only "exclusions" were if it were outside of the dates listed (the coupon indicated this was being offered the entire month of June). They were adamant in not honoring the coupon, and insisted it was my misunderstanding, not theirs, even though I found the coupon on their website! The food was okay. The restaurant food was much better than the buffet. But the drinks were great! The activities offered were good, but somewhat redundant. However, all and all a great place to relax and enjoy the untainted, peaceful, beachy atmosphere!

The very best part of our trip here was the amazing staff! Every staff member from the front desk, to the waiters, to the cleaning and lawn crews make you feel special! There are lots of fun activities where the dance/excercize staff make you feel like you are with friends you've known forever! We loved the night club and we never had to wait to be asked to dance by very fun friendly people! The beaches are so amazing and the staff stop by regularly to get drinks and invite you to various activities! The staff at the restraunts and bars are so kind and remember what you like. The value of what we paid would be amazing, however, the staff made it seem free!

Upon arrival the group I was with was very impressed. Very friendly staff and super interactive. The food is very lack luster. We ended up eating pasta every night because we weren't super impressed with the selection. The 3 restaraunts on the resort are ok. The Mediterranean one isn't Mediterranean at all and once our food arrived we maybe took one bite and left. Fusion was ok. Nothing super spectacular. The room is ok this resort was remodeled a short time ago. Ours smelled like fresh paint and every night we would have puddles in our room because of all the condensation. By the end of our stay our room smelled very musty. The beach and pool are the best part of this resort. We walked up both sides of the beach and the scenery is really spectacular. Lush jungle and different at every turn. In the evening they have themed parties super interactive and a ton of fun. The staff are young and very fun. The best part of our stay was the spa. One day it rained for 24 hours straight and my wife and I got a couples massage. Honestly it was hands down one of the best massages I have ever had. I highly recommend it.

The setting was stunning, for the beautiful coconut trees, the amazing pool, and of course the amazing ocean, there was something for the eyes at every turn. It felt like we stepped into a postcard. The room was a comfortable retreat to cool off and shower up, with incredibly comfortable beds. We went during the off season (July) and we never had a problem finding a comfortable beach cabana or pool side coconut to nap in. The wait staff was incredible. All of our needs were tended to. As a parent of three kids I highly recommend the adults only places. No screaming kids! No splashing in the pool. No whining in the restaurants. This place is the bar that has been set for all future trips!

My boyfriend and I went for my birthday, the people were extremely friendly, the room was very clean and new along with the whole resort. Could use more dinning options but the food was decent. Overall good time. The resort however is very very far from SDQ airport about 2 hours. So plan to spend money for travel. I would advise you set up travel before hand or choose a closer airport if possible. Crowd is usually older about 40-60 range if you're in your 20-30 you might want to try a hipper spot. (We are in our 20s and still had a good time). The town itself is still very untouched by tourism so it's really a good experience. Next time I would try a more tourist area.

Service was amazing, the beach and facilities were great, only thing I didn't like was the pillows from the room extremely soft and when we order more we were told that non were available. The service was fantastic from the front desk to the waiters. Specially Juana that got our tours and Santo that always took care of us at the restaurants. We already planning in coming back. Is a good place for adults, if you want to relax is fantastic. Traveling with younger people might be boring for them but for us was a great place to rest.

What's the best excursion? How much should you tip?
