If you love beautiful beaches, golf, fishing and boats this maybe the place for you. The resort itself is dated and could use a face lift. It is currently for sale so maybe that will happen. I had to change condos upon check-in because the patio slider didn't lock. You must like stairs because all entrances to the units have stairs and some bedrooms are upstairs. Food is extremely EXPENSIVE!! From the grocery store and all of the restaurants. The food at the pool bar is not good. Drinks are about $8. There is a Liquor Store and they take AMEX. The food at Coco's Beach Restaurant & Bar down the street is ok. The best meal I had was from the Bahamas Beach Club down the road. American Express is not king! The resort takes it, but no one else does. I loved the staff, they were very helpful. All of the locals and visitors were extremely friendly. Lot's of little lizards running around..lol...and tiny, tiny ants or insects on the kitchen counter. I often washed the counters down with clorox, that helped. Suggestion, bring your own spices and any other non-perishable food. You must rent a golf cart during your stay to put around town. So much fun! About $40 a day (optional) Overall, it was an earthy, organic laid-back experience which is what I wanted. Leave your bling at home! Treasure Cay has everything that I love. Now that I know the ends and outs, I'll be more prepared when I return. On another note, I have used Cheap Caribbean several times. Every time upon check-in to my room there have been problems or the accomodations were sub-standard, not what I expected, however, so far, all of the resorts were accomodating and I was able to change to rooms that made me comfortable and were much more attractive.
Pool area is in the middle of a bar. Resort rooms dated and tethered. Bed and washer were broke. Bedroom window would not close. Enjoyed the Abacos but will not return to this area.
We had such a great time in Treasure Cay. The beach and pool were beautiful and we got upgraded to a suite after our first night just because. The rooms were nice, two bathrooms, king size bed on the second floor, full kitchen/living room/dining room and an awesome balcony. Food at the resort was great if a little expensive. Definitely loved Florence's and the Tipsy Seagull. Very quiet and fun. Our only complaint is with Cheap Caribbean/Delta for not giving us a seat assignment, we came very close to missing our trip by not having seats on a connecting flight.
Treasure Cay Marina is 8 miles from airport and $30 taxi fare. Its away from everything. We went off season they said. Very few people around. Only 4 rest. on property and very expensive. We were told of a local rest. "Touch of Class" outside the property. A great place and not expensive, run by locals. They pick you up. We would have eaten there all the time if known sooner. Treasure Cay has a different menu special daily with an activity. The beaches are beautiful. Our room was nice recently renovated. Staff very friendly. Had a complaint but manager took care of it. Took a couple of boat trips and one land one that was offered on property. Prozac Tours run by boat owner Auzzie is not reliable. They cancelled one of our trips due to only 7 signed up not 10. Yet he took boat out to Nippers bar not having 10. Don't waste your money on Nippers. Stay at hotel and drink. Its a drink trip costs awful and you get nothing. Treasure Cay beach just as nice. The on site travel shop has a nice land trip to her special spot and the lunch was excellent. Worth it. There is not much to do or go on this spot, so if you are looking for dull this is it. Turtle Cay is where the snorkeling reefs are and a lot busier. Daughter went there snorkeling and loved it. She will be going there next time. I like busy, going and seeing things. Too laid back for me. Bring food for breakfast and lunch in room to save. This was a restful, pleasant trip and worth the money spent.
After a 35.00 taxi to resort from the smallest airport ever seen, only about 7 miles down the road is Treasure Cay resort...Well Yikes the room was nice enough cause of the marina views as you can see the boats coming in and going out and the ladies in office are helpful. The 1 bedroom was a nice size but filled with bugs and flies were everywhere. Gross!! A little walk down the road is the beautiful beach which is what makes this place. Treasure Cay is too small and not much to do..its a one store town and maybe 4 places to eat and go. Treasure cay is nice for a few days but so small that you see the same people day after day. We went to Guana Cay for a 100.00 and well if you want to sit at a bar all day then that place is nice but the same thing ...so small and not much to do. Prices were high for food and at the little grocery store. Paid 40.00 for a pizza.. 26.00 for 2 really small Tacos..7.00 for beers and after all the taxes well you spend about 150.00 for a few beers and a meal at the bars for 2 people. We brought our snorkel gear but only saw grasses and about 5 fish and we went to many different areas to explore but you would have pay 400.00 for the day to take you to the snorkel areas by a chartered boat. Get the golf cart and see all the nice houses on the back roads and that was 40.00 for the day. But the relaxation is what is all about Treasure Cay , relaxed but would NEVER go back. So many nicer places in this world to see and explore.
I would NEVER recommend this facility. It is very old, has mold in bathrooms, frequently has power failures and huge noisy generators take over for extended length of time. Lose water every day. THAT IS NO WATER COMING INTO THE CONDO UNIT. A very old outdated facility. The staff are very nice, the management tries very hard to please, but they are fighting a losing battle. the beach is one of the most beautiful in the world. Turquoise water , softest sand I have ever walked on, like "flour". Too bad a probably once a fantastic facility has been neglected in its needs.
We got an upgrade to bigger room (suite) style at checking in. Went in low season mid December. The room has 2 stories and a balcony facing the marina. Kitchen is equipped with essentials. The place is a little old but everything is clean and in working conditions. Room cleaning daily was fine. Based on upgraded room, accommodations are good value, feels like a little apartment. Airconditions works fine and staff was super friendly. The place is not fancy but totally fine - sitting on balcony is very relaxing. Some tips: Please be aware that there are really not may dining options and the restaurants are expensive- there is a little grocery store - also expensive. If you have a room with kitchenette (highly recommended) there is a big refrigerator. You can bring food items if you like... The beach there is truly amazing.
The company should have been forthcoming with the facts that it would be nearly $100 each way for a taxi to the airport and that the main restaurant was only open a few days a week. Also, while we paid for an upgrade to a marina view suite, it would be a sretch to call it a true "view" of the marina.
We were warmly welcomed when we arrived to check into our hotel room that I would consider more of a villa. We were instantly upgrades from a one level room to a two-story villa. I was already happy to be in the Bahamas but when we were treated so well I was elated! The hotel staff gave us a nice little folder of activities and shared what they like best about the island and let us know what we should take time to appreciate. We walked our bags in the our new home for a week and started to unpack. We had everything we could possibly need in our room. The room came stocked with pots, pans, cups, bowls, plates, and all utensils. We were upgrades to a room with a loft style bedroom with a bathroom upstairs. Downstairs was a lovely little kitchen, bar seating area, living room with a tv, futon and chairs and a cozy dining room with a table and seating. Bonus! We had a great little balcony where we could have breakfast. Nearby was a grocery store, liquor store, cart rentals, golf course, marina, bars, a few restaurants and boat rentals. This was an absolute wonderful time and I cannot wait to book my next trip to the Bahamas!!! Much love to all the sweet locals and beautiful scenery!
This place was fun! It was older, but the set up was so wonderful! There were many choices of things to do, and the scenery was beautiful! Tipsy's was a blast...I won the first round at bingo on taco night! Pizza night was fun, too.
