The La Amada was the best resort we have ever stayed at. It was beautiful, clean and we were treated so great by the staff. We will definitely go back. The beaches were beautiful. The room was gorgeous, comfortable and not your typical hotel layout.
My Husband and stayed at the LaAmada hotel in June 2010. The overall experience was okay but there were many things that we found to be "off". I would like to add that it was our anniversary and we would probably have upgraded our room but no one asked upon check in if we were celebrating anything. First of all, the resort is located in a very remote part of Cancun and to get anywhere near the hotel zone is at least a 30 minute cab drive. Because the resort is so far away, we felt that we were unfairly subjected to the hotels "no food or beverage from outside the resort" policy. Some people may not mind not leaving the resort, but during our stay, things were quite boring. The resort had some activities booked during our stay such as wine tasting and so forth but they had to cancel because there was no one there. Also, there were too many children staying there and for such a small resort, they seemed to take over every aspect, even the swim up bar. The thing that bothered us the most was the beach. It was very dissapointing. We come to Cancun every year to see the sparking azure Caribbean Sea, and you just dont get that here. The water maybe too deep or the sand maybe not white enough, I don't know what it was but you could see the turquoise water surrounding Isla Mujeres across the way. Also, there was constant sea grass being washed in on the beach. The resort itself is very pleasant, quite modern and chic. The staff is also very friendly but the food is just okay.
The Amada was excellent. All you need for a relaxing quite break. Although the hotel is not adult only there was no intrusion of its quite senenity by the few children there. Food and service were excellent. Rooms very well equipted but dining options very limited ,however food in the 2 restaurants open each evening was very good. The clealiness of the hotel exceeds anywhere we have been in the Carribean or Central America etc ever( Over 30 years of travelling). They have only just converted to the all inclusive regime so a few probems with room service but nothing that we would complain about. All we can say is we will go back as its probably the best hotel ,value for money, we have stayed in for many years.
La Amada was a beautiful setting for simple relaxation and retreat from the everyday stresses of life. The rooms were beautiful and the housekeeping service was outstanding. The meals were beautifully prepared and there was variety in the menu at all restaurants. The one facility downside was the workout facility. The workout room was warm and humid...rather than a comfortable temperature for exercise. One note of caution: Be certain that you define the details of your package. We were surprised that the all-inclusive package did not include gratuities. Being prepared for that ahead of time would have been better than finding this out one we arrived.
The La Amada is exactly as advertised. The facilities are top notch, modern and immaculate. What sets them apart is the staff. These people truly care about their jobs and about satisfying you. They greet you with a smile each and every time and most of them remember you after just one time. We stayed in a beachfront casita and having our own pool was wonderful. The reveiws that say these pools are too cold are wrong...they are just right. With a limited amount of restaurants on site, I would like to see the menu items change occasionally because after a week, it becomes repetitive. The food was very well prepared though. You have to check out the spa. We did the couples massage and it was wonderful. From check-in to check-out, we couldn't have been more pleased.
I was very disappointed with La Amada. Their website is very misleading. But I will start with the positives first. The property is beautiful w/lovely flowers and trees. The property is meticulously maintained. The beach is wonderful. The pools are pristine. The spa was great - got a faublous massage. There was nightly music in the lounge which was very nice. Here are the negatives - They don't have many dining options to begin with and one of their restaurants (Lupita) never even opened while I was there - March 26 thru March 31, 2011. Their lobby bar was not open at all. They claimed to have an international coffee and tea bar which did not exist. They also claimed to have a juice bar - Natura Juice Bar, that did not exist. (At breakfast they did however serve a variety of juices.) The service was extremely slow at every meal. When we checked in they did not have the room we requested and we asked to speak to a manager. They left us waiting in the lobby for 35 minutes when they finally decided to change our room - the manager never did come to speak to us. The maid service was very inconsistent - sometimes they didn't leave hand towels for us or enough bath towels. The room was large, but situated in a ridiculous fashion with the head of the bed against the bathroom wall - the wall was short w/a large opening above and on the other side of that wall were the bathroom sinks...so in the middle of the night you can hear water running in your ear if someone got up to use the bathroom. Lots of little kids were vacationing w/their parents and they took over the main pool (w/swim up bar) all day long, lucky for us we stayed on the beach - again the service was extremely slow at the beach, too. Although we did the all inclusive, the tips were not included and that added up to quite a bit of money. I think if they worked out their kinks this could be a great place all around.
We love everything about this place! Its only a half hour from the airport, gorgeous, luxurious, with great service and food. The rooms are huge and stylish with a balcony, hot tub, bar and our favorite - a triple head marble shower! The beach and pools are pristine. The spa is amazing with unique architecture and top-notch therapists. The breakfasts are unreal, and so fresh, with an array of choices from classics to smoothies to local fare. Isla Grille is great for lunch or dinner. We were really impressed with the catch of the day and the surf and turf, but those are not the only great choices. Lupita is their new restaurant featuring excellent local cuisine. You can even have sushi in a beautifully designed courtyard! We only had one lackluster dinner, at Aroma. That was due to a very loud, inconsiderate party of 10 more than the food. But it's the staff that makes La Amada so special. There is a brightness, an energy that just makes you smile. Decades in the hospitality industry give us a unique perspective. I would have hired 98% of them, many with signing bonuses! Can't wait to return!
This hotel is located 12 miles North East of the main hotel zone in Playa Muherez. Because of this and their moto, there was no late night partying as the hotel goes quiet at 11:00 pm. Excellent hotel for those looking to be away from the main party zone. We stayed in one of the casitas with plunge pool and our room was beautiful with an awsome shower. The property and grounds was top notch and very sophisticated. Service was amazing every time and some of the staff tried hard to remember your name. The only negative comments I have is that the bed was a bid too firm for me (but not my partner). There is only 3 restaurants of which only 2 were open at once. We felt the dress attire was a bit too formal for dinner which also required reservations but the food was amazing. There was also a lunch food shack by the beach where you can sit in the shade at a table and order food and drinks which we enjoyed. The beach was clean of seawead within the bounderies, however, beyond the bounderies, the ocean is not the same turquoise blue as the main hotel zone due to seawead, still beautiful though. I hope this helps.
From the moment we walked through the front door, we were treated with respect, sincerity and genuine attentiveness for our pleasure and wellbeing throughout our whole visit. It was truly a wonderful vacation with no stress or concerns - and we had a toddler in tow! The rooms were incredible, with so much space and attention to detail. It was wonderful to be able to relax and spread out without worry, especially with a toddler! The resort is small, but by no means are they lacking anything. If you're looking for parties, clubs, & shopping, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing piece of paradise where people are there to quietly attend to you without hovering, then this is the place. Children are welcome and there is a great little splash pool with a water feature and a kids club (for ages 4-12). Because the resort is small, there are not a ton of other families. But it's a perfect place to relax and hangout and have fun with your family. It was a wonderful change to be able to order off of a menu at an all-inclusive resort as opposed to having to eat at a stale, tasteless Buffett everyday. They did serve their breakfast buffet style, but it was fresh, hot, and constantly being replenished. It was one of our favorite meals of the day. Since the resort is a boutique style resort, dining options were limited. However, the menus were each very different and all were creative, delicious and interesting. I would go back to La Amada in a heartbeat. I was sad to leave, not because our vacation was over and we had to go home and go back to work, but because I was going to miss the staff, the ambiance and this wonderful little piece of paradise.
I purchased the package via the Cheap Caribbean since it was very easy and the price was attractive. Everything was wonderful, We stayed in the Beloved Hotel Playa Mujeres, which is gorgeous place. Everything was very clean, beverages and waitresses waiting to serve, the rooms are spacious the beach and pool are beautiful. The only concerns I had were 2: • The private taxi I booked (Olympus) was not on time in the airport, and it’s cheaper to get a taxi in the airport • The connection time on the way back o the US was 1.5 hours (UA). Going through passport control, customs and security, we almost missed the connecting flight.
