It was a good overall trip for the money. Our air conditioning didn't work the first night and it took a day and a half before they got us in a room where the air did work. After that we did enjoy our vacation. The staff was friendly enough and the accomodations were good but next time I think it wou;d be worth it to spend a little more money for a better experience.
I went to this resort with my two college roomates. The room wasn't ready when we check in until 5pm, but that was the only problem with the hotel we had. The room was an average standard hotel room, but the lobby and hallways were beautiful and clean. Fun pools and bars, a good mix of all ages and types of people. I would suggest staying on the resort..we went to Margaritaville Ocho Rios one night and we did not feel safe. Overall a great trip, well worth it!
Great resort, good food, great staff. Bus ride from airport a little tiresome but worth it.
The Hotel is in need of room renovations, especially the Bathrooms as well as the Baloncies. The bedspreads were very worn and all the furniture is old and falling apart. There was no Alarm clock (nor any clock) in the room.
This is a great town with a lot to do. The rooms are not the best, but the staff and the resort are nice. If you are looking for a vacation without kids, this would not be the place to stay.
I went to the Sunset Jamaica Grand with three of my friends. My husband was in Iraq at the time and we were hoping for a nice, fun get-away. I had called ahead and asked that our two rooms be adjoining and asked if we would be in the North Tower. At check-in, they told us we were in the South Tower and our rooms weren't next to each other. Even after I informed them that I had called previously and was told it "would not be a problem" they didn't try to accommodate our requests. So, we tried to be relaxed about it and went up to check out our rooms. As soon as we walked into the lobby of the South Tower, it smelled like urine and it continued to smell even in the rooms. We were very dissatisified, and decided we had to go back to the check-in desk and request (again) to be in the North Tower. Well, this could be a very long story and I'll try to make it short. Basically, I waited and waited for the manager who then told me he could not meet our requests. I refused to back down and he finally said he could put us in a "suite" for one night in the North Tower and that after four o'clock, he could let us know if there would be other rooms available for the rest of our stay. Long story-short, we switched rooms later in the evening to other rooms in the North Tower (not adjoining--not even on the same floor!) and they were fine. THe next day our AC wasn't working. I called the front desk and got bounced around and put on hold for over 20 minutes before speaking to anyone. Then I was told that someone would fix it later in the day and not to worry about it. We got back from the beach and it had not been fixed. So, after calling and waiting more on the phone, I finally demanded someone come fix it (it was HOT in the room). We waited for about 30 minutes for maintenance to arrive. They fixed it. We went to dinner. When we came back from dinner the room was hot again. So, at 10:00 at night, we had to once again change rooms! We were completely frustrated! All in all, the resort is nice. The pools are great (but often crowded), the beach is awesome. I had the best massage in my life at the spa! The best part of our trip were the dinners...fabulous food and service at all the restaurants we visited. The rooms were not very nice and the the customer service was horrible. If they could get their act together in this area, I would recommend the resort...but as is, I would not return to the Sunset Jamaica Grande.
Best vacation i ever had. Everyone was super friendly, couldn't do enough to help you. Would highly recommend this place. Can't wait to go again.
This resort has a perfect location and is within walking distance to shopping, dining, and entertainment and is a short cab ride to lots of attractions. The front desk usually had a LONG waiting line and when you reached the desk the service you received was rude anyway. Most of the restaurant and bar staff were very friendly and accommodating and made you feel welcome. The rooms were a little small and outdated but you don't spend much time in your room on a vacation like this. Jamaica is my favorite vacation spot and this trip was #41 for me. I would probably stay at this resort again if they lowered their all inclusive rate a little. Although there are lots of pools at the resort it is definitely lacking in the entertainment department. I have stayed at several other resorts that offered round the clock entertainment and shows and this one did not. The daily activities didn't start until 3pm and were finished at 5 and they didn't even have a radion or music playing that you could listen to while laying at the pool. The food was ok, but we also enjoyed several local spots for dining. Overall it was a good vacation but I think it is over-priced for what you get.
I am a college student that was looking for an affordable all inclusive vacation for spring break. Sunset Grande offered just that. It was a beautiful place, great pools and beach, and of course all you can eat or drink! The staff was friendly, and we did not have a single problem. Although it was more centered around a family environment, it was still very easy for us college students to have a great time!
Sunset jamaica grande was the best all inc. Resort ive ever been to in fact i will b going back in october for the 3rd time this year alone!! Ocho rios is an amazing place to visit the and while the resort is fabolous, the entertainment is what never stops! Its a resort where everyone is friendly it has so many things to do daily the food is so good and u can literally walk into town and shop! I luv it i cantwait to go back!!
