All Sunscape Splash Montego Bay Customer Reviews
We stayed at Sunscape Splash 5/24/16 till 5/29/16. Check in was quick, but then they told us we needed to go to the desk behind us to get our coupons. We didn't know it was voluntary and ended up losing half a day to timeshare info. We didn't buy in and didn't use the coupons as the spa and wine were over priced in our opinion. Our room was fine no complaints. Our towels were switched out daily and our bed made. The mini fridge was filled daily. The elevators were slow at times but there were a lot of people using them. The restrooms on the lobby level next to the elevators smelled bad daily. They say they have 7 restaurants but never had more than the buffet and one restaurant open for supper. Buffet was fine we always ate there for meals. Nothing was amazing but we never left hungry. We went to Gohan restaurant the last night and left after the appetizer. It was not good and spent the night vomiting. Never had that problem with the buffet. I recommend you take your own tubes for the lazy river. We only saw between 5 or 6 tubes available for use. They sell tubes in the gift shop but I'm sure they were way over priced. We bought sunscreen in the gift shop for $17. We went on one excursion and canceled the second excursion. We decided staying at the resort and relaxing on the beach was more our style. The drinks were very strong. I recommend taking your own tervis cup. Their cups were small and required getting up for refills frequently. We went on the glass bottom boat ride it was great! We saw jellyfish and stingrays and sea urchins. You do need water shoes but the beach is nice. It would be even better if they cleared out more of the sea grass so you don't step on sea urchins. The water is shallow. The entertainment was not as exciting as I was hoping for. For the money we spent on this trip we felt like it was worth it. Only complaints were when we booked the trip we picked our seats on the plane rides and never once did we actually sit in those seats. We had to pay $80 extra to even sit together on one flight. Then on the flight home my seat was the only one without a working tv. So 2.5 hrs leaning and sharing ear piece with my spouse. So when you get your seats for flights make sure they are listed together or call to get them changed immediately if you don't want to pay extra. We picked the deal of fortune Montego Bay. It was a good deal and I haven't heard of anyone staying anywhere other than the Sunscape Splash on that deal. The wifi worked great through out the hotel. For your phones put them on airplane mode and turn on the wifi to use. I used my iPad and FaceTime through wifi. Kelleys water sports is on the resort and buying is better priced there.

Beware! This resort is well bellow the 4.0 level advertised by Cheap Caribbean. We bought the deal of fortune, trusting that all 4 resorts included are of the same quality/value, and like the majority of customers that buy this deal, we were place at Sunscape Splash that is a 2.0 star resort (at best). The rooms are very basic and outdated, there were daily issues wuth replacing our towels and restocking our fridge with bottles of water. There are only two a la carte restaurants (with 1h30m waiting list, no reservations allowed) with a very limited menu that didn't change in the 7 nights we were at the resort. The options at the buffet are also limited and also remained the same for our entire stay. The personel is very nice but there is a clear lack of organization in the day-to-day operations. We felt very dissapointed with this resort and deceived by cheap caribbean. Giving this resort a 4.0 rating and comparing it to Iberostar or the Hilton feels dishonest and we filled a compaint with the BBB against Cheap Caribbean because of that.

I did a lot of research on the resort before we went on this trip and it's safe to say, some opinions are right on, but you'll form your own when you go. We found many different things we weren't expecting. That being said, here is my unbiased pros and cons list: Pros -The drinks and food are plentiful. Food options for 24 hours every day and we had 6 options available to us - I'm kind of picky and I was able to find something I liked at every restaurant we ate at. They are not withholding on the booze either. The drinks are STRONG. -Everything was kept well clean. The pools were clean, our room was immaculate every day, the restaurants and lobbies always pristine. -There is always something to do. Two of our days were cooler and windy, sometimes a little rain. There was still always something to do besides being on the beach or at the pool. -They offer a lot of excursions outside the resort. We chose not to do any as we were only there for 4 nights but there are definitely some we know we would have enjoyed. Cons -They don't follow their own rules. It says on their website/check-in information that you're not allowed to reserve chairs (i.e. people go to the pool/beach early in the morning and put towels/magazines on chairs and leave them there until they want to come back) - supposedly the resort is supposed to monitor this - it doesn't happen. Also some restaurants are supposed to be "casual elegant" meaning men have to wear pants (not jeans), closed toe shoes and a collared shirt - we saw men go in wearing swimsuits, cutoffs and flip flops. Also, some restaurants were supposed to be adult only inside - they let kids inside. -There are A LOT of families and groups, not as many young couples. We went for our honeymoon (we're both 23) and our room was right by the waterpark - lots of screaming kids all day. Which is fine, we were rarely in our room all day so it never negatively affected us, just know if you are wanting romantic, I would look elsewhere. -Check-in process is LONG. If you come in on an early flight you will have to wait until 3 to check in and even then we waited another hour on top of that. We really just wanted to be able to jump in the pool after traveling all day and we had to wait 5 hours to do that. Honestly, all the reviews I saw were RAVING about the staff and customer service. It was average at best for us. We definitely didn't get the "You feel like family here" and "Everyone is so nice and welcoming" treatment - no one was rude or mean to us but certainly not over the top nice either. All in all we enjoyed our trip. We were able to relax, eat and drink in paradise. It's hard to complain about that. There was still some construction going on while we were there but it never affected us in any way.

This may be a really long review, but we wanted to provide the most information possible so others were VERY well informed of the resort. Before our stay, we saw a couple reviews that concerned us about Sunscape Splash, but just brushed them off. However, our stay wasn't as luxurious as we had hoped (and paid for). We stayed for 5 nights. OVERALL: The resort is not worth the money. Not enough to do at night, food was absolutely horrible, no hot water in the room most days. I would not recommend this resort at all. I thought about calling CheapCaribbean to see if they could switch our resort, but decided to try to stick it out. We made the best of our trip, but I know our vacation could have been so much better if we had gotten a different resort (we did the Deal of the Day, so we did not choose this resort). ATMOSPHERE: Most of the resort is very beautiful - modern, open air to get a breeze everywhere you go, nice seating areas in the common areas. There were a lot of kids (and kids running around), but it wasn't too bothersome for the most part because we stayed at the adult pool most of the time. ROOMS: Our room was okay at first. Very bland with no colors or paintings on the walls. The bathroom was a little brighter, but the shower looked pretty out dated. They replenish the fridge once every few days, which didn't bother us but we know it bothered other guests we talked to. The worst thing about the room was that we did not have hot water or water pressure for most of our stay (6 days, 5 nights). I had to call and complain several times and they didn't do much. No comp, no upgraded room, no moving us to a room for a night, nothing. Very disappointed in that aspect, because after swimming in a pool/ocean all day, you don't want to rinse off in cold water. FOOD/DRINKS: The best thing about the resort: the bars. The main lobby bar made the strongest drinks and the staff was always pretty nice. Unfortunately, this resort had some of the worst food I have ever had. The food is cooked with so much oil and grease that it made my stomach turn almost every meal - at first I thought it was the water, and then I realized the puddles of grease on every plate I made... Their "fancy Italian restaurant" Portofino had some of the worst food I've ever tasted, and it took over 2 hours to get the main course served to us even though we were one of the first tables seated. We heard Gohan is the same, but the two restaurants are never both open on the same night, and we never got to try it. Also, two restaurants are only open to select resort members, so you really only have 2-3 options for dinner and lunch every day. The food here is recycled day in and day out. You'll notice the food tastes and looks old, and that's because it is. One night they'll serve a specialty dish at one restaurant and the following night it will be at a different place. I thought I would have some of the best seafood ever here, but every piece of fish I had tasted old and dry. ENTERTAINMENT: Better yet, there is none. The pools close at 6 pm and then there is some kind of kid's entertainment later on if they have something planned (kid's talent show, kid's movie night, etc.). There are no nightclubs, bands playing, etc. If you want to have a fun night out, you have to leave the resort. They do have a "lounge" but no drinks are served in there, no music is playing, and there are two lone pool tables. They have a casino too, but it's pretty weak and only had video-card games and slot machines. POOLS/BEACH: Like I said, pools close at 6 pm. However, the pools are pretty well maintained and one has a swim up bar. The other two are more kid pools, so we didn't go in those, but they're pretty clean. The beach is super small and is full of rocks and seaweed. It was nice to go sit in the sand a little during the afternoon, but you can't swim in the ocean or take a long walk along the coast. Again, yes a long review, but this resort was a huge disappointment. As first time visitors to Jamaica and the Caribbean, we were expecting so much more.

The staff here was very friendly, the management however except for one pretended as if they don't see you, don't say hi or anything, I would definitely go back,Odane, Natasha, Jonas and Nickoya made my stay very enjoyable!! He entire line staff was great, the life guards , the entertainment staff just friendly. I would return just because of the staff, Jessica in housekeeping great.

This was my 3rd all inclusive experience in MoBay and I was really looking forward to my stay st Sunscape Resort. However, my first afternoon there I missed lunch at the buffet and had to grab something from the Barefoot Grill. I was underwhelmed by the taste of the food offered there as was my 7 y/o son who didn't even take 2 bites of the hot dog. Not to mention the fact that there were a lot of flies both around the condiments and around the seating area. Dinner time was better as there was an Asian restaurant where the food was much better. However given the portion size was small, I often found myself still hungry after dinner. So I tried the Coco Cafe where they offered desserts, fruits and sandwiches. As I waited to be served and acknowledged I realized that one of the associates was idle but did not acknowledge me or my son. So I continued to wait. Then someone else walked in a few minutes later and was immediately greeted and tended to. I mentioned that I had been there for almost 5 minutes without getting any help. Needless to say, that further soured my view of the resort. My second day was slightly better but not so much to get me to ever consider returning. So I decided to write a review on TripAdvisor the next day detailing my thoughts. To my surprise on day 4 of my trip I received a call from the head conceirge asking me about my experience. She was sorry I wasn't getting the 4star experience and wanted to see that I enjoyed the rest of my stay. So I was provided with access to the restaurant on the Cove side, which was Excellent and because I had also explained (not complained) that I had any issue in the room, she saw to it that I got a room change... and it was an upgrade. I see where the staff and management want us to enjoy our stay and that's ultimately how I ended my trip. For this reason I would go back. I should also mention that my son simply loved the Explorer's club (kids club) and even though we left a week ago is still taking about the trip, which is a win for us both.

We just got back from a 5 night stay here at Sunscape. I'm not a big reviewer but I found reading other reviews important so here you go.... The over all resort: It's in a great location, close enough to go on excursions but not to close to where the noise of city life would bother you at all. They are still doing some major remodeling but we did not find that a problem really from our room (5910) as far as the noise level goes, every once in a while you may here some hammering but we think the people were just as loud at times if not louder with laughter down at the one of the pools. It's a big resort and there are plenty of things to do if (adults and children) you don't even want to see the rest of Jamaica. The food/restaurants: First night we got there we went to the Asian restaurant service was extremely slow. We had waited in line for the 6pm opening got seated along with everyone else at the same time the couple across from us received their food as we were leaving...timing between courses was pretty bad, they seemed a little/lot under staff in the kitchen. The food choices were good and the food tasted great and you could tell the staff was trying to do the best they could to keep everyone happy. The buffet had a lot of options and the food always seemed fresh and tasted good. This is where we decided to eat most of our meals. If you like fresh fruit they always have a lot of it here and it's great. Breakfast /dinner here was always great. The grill...wait time was ok and reasonable and the food was ok. Coco's is a good place to stop off and get a snack, sandwiches and desserts always tasted great. Bars: They have a lot of them here and the don't hold back on the alcohol, and they have a drink of the day that we thought was always fun to try. Rooms: This is were it's not so great..and we paid extra for the view (which was amazing!) They are dated rooms but they have been painted and they are clean. Water pressure was non-existing and it takes about 15 min. before you get hot water...bed was very comfortable and so were the pillows. The do have a mini fridge in your room they fill every other day, but to call it a mini bar is not really true, what you get is 2 cans of red stripe, 2 bottles of coke, 1 sprite, 1 pineapple soda, 2 jumex (fruit drinks) and 3 bottles of water...not a huge deal but don't go expecting a bar in the room. Housekeeping was always good other then no washcloths (even after asking for them 2 times) never got them other then the first day there.... Customer service This is were they are great (other then the washcloths) Everyone there was always nothing but friendly, helpful and always wanting to help you. Amazing staff I could go on and on but the easiest thing to say is this is what will bring us back one more time after all the changes are made. I know I could have said something about the few things I didn't like but I did pay extra for the view and the view was worth every penny and I didn't want to give that up..We went there for my wife birthday and I had arranged to have a few things extra for our room when we got there (at a cost) and they didn't disappoint at all..Champion on ice with fresh fruit dipped in chocolate was amazing and worth the cost and they did a great job at keeping it a secret until we made it to the room. The staff is what makes this place so special, long as they keep that and finish the renovations (hopefully that fixes the water pressure) we will go back. Also one more side note...we always felt very safe there and even in town we never had a problem...

This is one of the worse places in Jamaica to stay. Dirty, over crowded, dirty, dirty, nasty food, thiefs and scammers. They sell you Jamaican money to later want to charge you an extra 25% on anything you buy at the the resort I exchanged. Not only that!!! While they are holding my belonging they also stole cash right out of my wallet. When I reported it they did a so call investigation to later call me 3 hrs later to say that they asked their employees and they denied it.... So, that was that! A complete joke!!! This is NOT a place anyone with experience should come. At all. !! Exchanged dollars to purchase thing within the same Sunscape resort at their cashier for $1.00 US to $100 Jamaican. Then I go to make a purchase at their photo shop and they want to charge me $125 Jamaica per $1 Dollar. People need to stay away from here. I'm still here and don't give 2 f about this comment because it is just my first to many to come about this "Sunscape" resort. Worst mistake ever!!! Mind me, we came her to celebrate my daughter sweet sixteen and it took me to speak to the front desk manager for them to at least make it feel like we came for that instead of making us miserable!! I can go on and on.... Why am I complaining now? Because our first day in this ghetto place, we arrived at 2pm at 4:30pm we were given a room (finally!! After trav long since 1am) our first time at Sunscape, so we look around tired from traveling since 1am, we went to bed like around 7:45/8pm. Woke up and went straight to the beach. That by the way sucks! We ended up in the pool. The have couldn't fit any more kids. It was loaded! Leaving for a excursion at 2:15. We arrived back to Sunscape tired again at 7:30pm. Again, we took showers and dinner at Portofino Rest. It was ok. BUT while we were sitting having dinner an employee (the waiter)had a nasty fall right next to me, where I thought by the landing of his fallthat he had broken his right shoulder and arm. No one helped him out. It was sad! He got up went to the back and about 5mins later he is back waitressing. I couldn't believe he was not being treated by a nurse before they sent him back to work. I was so concerned for him because I sow it all. And didn't even think for a second that it was not a serious fall. So, I had to ask him how he feels. I was in disbelief that they had made him continue working after I sow his hand. His hand was so swollen!!! I immediately asked him to go see a nurse he said he had to work. I advised him to ice it, he did while at the same time carrying trays of food. So sad! Then I decide to say to the restaurant manager that I thought the waiter should be seen by the in house nurse and he's reply was "he's young and strong, he'll be fine". I couldn't.....SMH The next day we left at 10am for the day, best of the west excursion arriving back at 6:30pm. So... Tired we literally eat at the "Japanese " restaurants and went to bed. Today was our very first whole day at the resort and HATED every second of it. That's when I noticed the dirty, nasty food, bad management, scams, got robbed and stomach bug that I'm thinking now it could be salmonella. And trust me, this place will give you Salmonella! Don't attend to speak to management..... They are a joke!

Stayed at Sunscape using Deal Of Fortune option. First of all I read a review that all Deal Of Fortune Montego Bay vacationers get this hotel and sure enough we did. Read a lot of negative reviews but the service hear was exceptional and overall hotel was great. If I had to pick a down side the food was average at best and limited options. We went for the upgrade to the cove side and got an ocean front room. We later learned that AM hotels owns Cheap Carribean and the random hotel thing is bull. Overall good vacation but would not use Deal of Fortune again.

I really enjoyed my stay at this resort. The service was excellent and the daily itinerary was helpful because they have so much going on throughout the day. I would recommend this resort to anyone. I will be visiting again very soon...
