Decent, but needs some work

My husband and I tend to be easy going travelers. We don't expect perfection and know that things go wrong. At Sunscape first it was a few little things, but the little things kept piling up until it was a bit frustrating at the end of our trip. --our refrigerator wasn't cold while our kids fridge had a huge block of ice that had frozen over the controls so you couldn't turn it down. Everything froze. --a few room essentials were missing --the bedroom clock didn't work --They only provided 2 towels (very poor quality) and 2 hand towels- no wash cloths. --the bathroom door was made of slats instead of being solid so you had no privacy. --the shower was an open design so water just poured out onto the bathroom floor and ran under the door into the bedroom area. I had to mop up pools of water after every shower. --the shower was about 6ft. long and the only place to put your stuff was on the opposite wall of the shower. (see picture) It got cold and was a little frustrating. --There was a gap so large in our front door that I wasn't sure it would even close and lock properly. It made me very nervous. --AND the straw that broke the camels back...the balcony door to my kids room had obviously been broken into or tried to be broken into. The metal latch was bent and mangled. The door didn't even shut all the way. We didn't notice because the curtain was covering it. 3 days into our visit we discovered the problem. A very nice young man came and made a temporary fix so it was locked through the night and came back in the morning to replace the whole lock. There were good things about the hotel. --The grounds were nice and the rooms away from the pool area were quiet and peaceful. --They had some fun entertainment-nightly shows, teen game room, dance parties at the pool and my family LOVED the pool foam party. --The food was decent, nothing amazing, but something for everyone and plenty of it. --the spa facilities were really beautiful-try the dr. fish --The staff were very pleasant, however sometimes communication was tough with the language barrier. --The weather was a little rough when we were there so we didn't get to use any of the beach activities, but they looked like they were in good condition. Some of my complaints could have just been bad luck on our part, but some are property issues. I would just rather you know before you go so you aren't disappointed. All in all we enjoyed our trip.

Relaxing vacation

Great service, good food, good drinks, and no waiting in big lines at the bars. No waking up early to make dinner reservations. Plenty of pool and beach chairs every day so what more can be said other than it was a stress free vacation

Few minor issues

First off I knew this resort would not be 5 star so if that's what you are expecting don't go there. Few issues one being the guys that work for Sunscape are very pushy about getting you to hear a presentation about the other resorts they have. I want to enjoy my time where I am not spend it hearing about my next trip. The restaurants that a supposed to be better then the buffets are awful, very friendly staff and beautiful to be in but the food was awful!!!!! Better food at the buffets. Then there's the vendors on the beach!!!! ALL DAY they bother you to buy their stuff!!! Wish the resort could control this issue, could not enjoy the beautiful beach because we were busy trying to get away from the vendors!!!! But overall nice place, friendly staff and rooms were clean and I felt safe being there. The guys from AMSTAR were great nice rides coming and going to the resort.

Good value for your vacation dollar

My fiancée and I stayed in the Sunscape Club section of the resort. This area was very quiet and we enjoyed having the pool to ourselves as well as a bartender. The service was very good and all of the staff were very helpful and polite. We enjoyed the beach and used all of the pools. The food was not great except for the fish but it was edible and I tried to make a point of eating unfamiliar foods daily. My only complaint was the sales pitch that was offered on our second day. We thought it was going to be a sales offer to book a future vacation. Unfortunately, it was a very pushy vacation share which was almost identical to time share opportunities. The presentation went WELL over the stated 90 minutes and I was very unhappy with the wasted time on my vacation. I had already stated that I was not interested. Do not agree to the sales pitch unless you are planning on spending an extra $9000 to purchase future weeks (1 a year) at an affiliated resort. I do not plan on returning but feel that I received good value for the money spent.

All Inclusive not satisfying

On vacation we were not very happy with Sunscape and having to wait for numerous hours numerous night to get in to restaurants at an all inclusive hotel. Plus the fact being told multiple nights that they were out of something o the menu, how can you have a set menu and run out of something. The first time I let it go the second I asked why and they brought out the item but it was a bad attempt at bringing a piece of sushi that I've had plenty of times to know that they were trying to serve me something that was not what it was supposed to be and have a photo if you'd like to compare. We were also told different things by different servers at the same places. The last thing I would like to question is why cheapcaribbean would charge $20 round trip taxi service as the place we stayed?? Plus the refusal to change the time of pickup even though I told them I knew they wouldn't be responsible if something was to go wrong in transfer. For someone who is an avid traveler how could I ever trust cheapcaribbean with the booking of another one of my vacations?

Plenty of Sunshine

I cant say enough about how great the staff was here, the rooms were clean, and when we encountered a problem they fixed it right away. The food and variety was really nice and there really was a place to grab a drink at all times day and night, if you want to be pampered then this is where you need to be. The only negative thing I can say is check your package after you booked it, we were flown into the airport that was over 1 hour 40 minutes away when we were to fly into the one only 15 minutes away

Sunscape was nice but loud

Beautiful resort, friendly staff, great food. The only issue that I had was the noise. Seemed like there was blaring music every place you turned around and no real quiet spot, not even the beach. I had to wear ear plugs to bed at night. Just couldn't eascape loud music. If you like a party atmosphere all day and all night, then this place is perfect.

Relaxing Vacation

I was surprised to see that this resort was not new, and was a refreshed Barcelo Resort. The rooms were nice and the staff was truly wonderful, they made sure we were very happy to stay there. The entertainment needs a little improvement and they could use more staff in the restaurants but overall I enjoyed this resort and would recommend it. Its proximity to the golf course is excellent and made my husband very happy.

Great break!

Great resort and we appreciated the upgrade to Sunclub facilities. (Upgraded room, private pool and lounge). The only downside is the 1.5 hour transfer to the airport (STI). Combined with our flight times from ATL (and Delta delay) meant for very late arrival, and very early departure times. All in all great value!
