Sandos Playacar Beach Resort and Spa Reviews

This resort is a wonderful value for individuals with children, and they really go out of their way to accommodate children, and provide a ton of activities for them. The variety in restaurants is appealing to anyone's taste, even children. Staff throughout the resort were friendly and extremely helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed this resort, however, I would not recommend for single adults or honeymooners, as this really is a kid-friendly, kid-oriented resort.

Absolutely a beautiful and affordable vacation for our two families. Everything described was exactly what we experienced, and even more so! Our room was spacious and clean. The Restaurants were plentiful and we never felt bored! And most especially, the Beach was as crystal clear and pristine as it should be, just like paradise. I would recommend this to any family planning a vacation to Playa Del Carmen. We will be coming back as soon as we can board another plane!

Great place to vacation with family, especially with todller. If travel with toddler, try to get the Hacienda Suite.

My friends and i had a blast at the sandos playacar! Everyone was so welcoming and nice. The Brazilian steakhouse was our favorite place and the manager was wonderful! We went twice! Loved this vacation!

Two weeks before we even left, Cheap Caribbean sent us a detailed check list. The list included everything we needed to do from confirming flights, to what to pack. We found the list very helpful!!! When we arrived at the aiport in Cancun we were greeted by a representitve that drove us to the airport. The transfer was very well organized and the drive was pleasant. When we arrived at the resort, we met with our Cheap Caribbean representitve the next day to go over all of the departure info. The meeting only took five minutes and was very detailed. Sandos Playacar was incredibly accomidating to all of our needs. We traveled with three kids, 8, 10, and 11. They had an absolute blast!!! The resort was clean and the rooms were comfortable. We have already decided to go back to Sandos Playacar next year and we will always bool with Cheap Caribbean. I would not however recommend this resort to a couple looking for a romantic getaway. Sandos Playacar is definately a family resort with lots of children running around. My family had a perfect vacation and we can not wait to do it again next year!!! My boyfriend and I went for a week. We had a great time! The resort was wonderful. Service was great. Food was good. The buffet is a buffet. It was good, it's what we expected. The reservation dining was not very good. I guess we had high hopes on it, and it did not meet our expectations. My boyfriend got sick after the Brazilian dinner. The beach was very nice. We always found chairs no matter what time we got out there. It rained on us, almost every day, but only lasted 5 or 10 min, then was done, no big deal. We both enjoyed the trip. Only thing I would have changed was getting direct flights there, without a lay-over.

The Sandos Playacar Beach Resort is actually two hotels, a newer facility (two years or so old) set way back from the beach, and an older facility. The pool by the newer rooms is really dead. If staying in a newer room you have to walk a ways to the active pool and the beach. Would not stay here again. You can't go wrong staying at the Barcelo Maya Beach & Caribe for about the same cost.

My husband and i decided last minute to take our 3 kids over xmas break. We had a great time. The service was great and the beach and pool were very nice. My only complaint was that we could not get into any of the finer restaurants and ended up eating in the same buffet restaurants. You have to make your dinner reservations RIGHT when you get there or you won't be able to dine in any of the fine dining restaurants. Great family vacation!

Despite the expansive size of Sandos Playa Car Resort and Spa, the staff offers the kind of service you might receive at a botique hotel. They were friendly and helpful and were patient and knowlegable teachers when my husband and I tried to speak Spanish. The Sandos Playacar is about 2 miles from the town of Playa del Carmen, which my husband and I walked daily. There are activities nearby if wish to see some of the mayan ruins, go zip lining or perhaps explore a cave or cenote. But if staying put in the resort is what you want, you will find more than enough to do. There were water sports aplenty on the beach or in the pools. You can even try your hand at arts and crafts if you so desire. And, of course, just being on the beach with the beautiful blue waters is entertainment enough. The beach may be a hike away from some of the accomadations but there is free transportation to and from beach and to and from the specialty restaurants if you would rather ride. The food at the buffets is the best in the Playacar area, in my opinion, and the specialty restaurants are also good. The rooms are clean and cool either by air conditioning or by ocean breeze which ever way you prefer. If you wish to sit on your balcony and not even leave the room, room service is part of the all-inclusive feature of this resort. There are night time shows for the whole family in the evening to wind down your day. My husband and I are planning a trip back next year only this time with our daughters, their hubands and our 4 grandchildren. Sandos Playacar -- What a Value!
