The property was nice - the rooms were set up in blocks of 4 so you had some semblance of privacy. The grounds were well maintained and had a variety of local flora. Restaurants were somewhat limited but you had access to other Sandals on the island - not really an excellent option since each hotel was about 30 minutes from the other. The food selection was more limited than what I have seen at other hotels (RIU), but the quality was very good to excellent and the staff was superb - very friendly and there to please you. Really, the staff was outstanding, we were very pleased. The rooms were comfortable, a little nicer than we have seen previously, but not extravagantly furnished - nice quality and everything worked. And our room did have 4 US electrical sockets as well as the more common local 240/50HZ sockets used in Europe. So a power transformer is not needed. The hotel and beach had a relaxed vibe - this is not the crazy party hotel - just the way we liked it. The Grande is the party spot so book according to you needs. Diving was a mixed bag - I am experienced - the dive sites were very good typically and the dive instructors had safety first. All good so far. But some instructors are more engaged than others - on several dives we had instructors who wanted to show us critters - excellent - but my last dive the instructor was disinterested and did not do much to show us anything. Also, the air tanks were filled to about 2500 to 2900 psig - so you were not getting a full tank of air. So again, a mixed bag on diving. Rooms were kept clean and we had zero issues with bugs. Pool, bars, gym facilities are nice. We were suitably impressed so we booked another stay at another Sandals property. We figured the service we got was worth the extra coin. The beach was clean, the reason I docked it one "tree", it was not a good beach to find shells (the Grande has a much better beach for that).
From the minute Sandals people met us at the airport we didn't have another care in the world. Our every need was met. From transfers to and from the resort, to shuttles to the other two Sandals properties on St. Lucia. Every member of the staff made us feel truly welcomed to their island resort and the people of the island itself were very friendly and fun loving. The food was delicious, and we could make healthy choices at all of the restaurants we chose to eat at. The gym was fantastic as it had free weights as well as machines and the usual cardio equipment. The trainer was very helpful with the classes he offered as well as the help he gave on your own. Terrific!! The shops had t shirts and other knick knacks that were reasonably priced which made it nice if you wanted just a little shopping. This was our first experience with CheapCarribean.com and a Sandals resort. We will definitely plan our next vacation with this in mind. Great time and great hassle free trip.
