Yikes.

I want to start by saying I am not one to focus on negative aspects of things, and try to find good in everything. That being said, this was the WORST trip I have ever taken. I will go over everything that happened and hopefully stop others from being taken advantage of. The good: The resort is right on the cliffs. The view alone is priceless. The water is warm and the sun is amazing. If you like a little thrill, jumping here is top notch. There are several places to take the plunge. The amount of beds and chairs was ample as well. Always had a place to put my towel down. The front desk staff was always helpful and smiling as well. Peter at the front was nice and made sure nobody was getting hit by cars. Our house keeper was incredibly kind as well. The BAD: The following occurred during our stay and I felt like I needed to share what happened. The rooms are incredibly dated. The paint is peeling in some areas, there is obvious water damage and mold. The toilet in our room had water seep out of the seal every time we flushed. It was disgusting. The room next to ours had the pipe completely backup and they had a floor full. Our friends staying in the garden apartment had a pipe break and had a brown river running behind the bar and kitchen! (HEALTH HAZARD ANYONE!) They did not even really clean up after the leaked was stopped. A few buckets of water and its clean right? The stay was supposedly all inclusive. Not true. You only get bottom of barrel of rum and vodka mixed with kool aid or Red Stripe in a plastic cup. The drinks are so sugary you have a better chance of getting diabetes than a buzz. Also if you did not tip with every drink, don't expect them to give you any attention. I am sorry, but tips are a reward for good service. The entire bar staff/ kitchen staff was by far the rudest group of people I've ever dealt with at a resort. My last day there I went to get lunch, and I asked for some pizza. I was scoffed at and only got 2 small pieces. I was blown away at the reaction I got asking for my lunch. On my way back to the table I heard the staff screaming at one another about making pizza and pasta for lunch. I guess it was one or the other? Regardless the staff member left the counter and I was unable to get any more food. I was blown away that this was offered at CC. The sister resort Legends was worse, if that's even possible. They have a 20x20 piece of beach situated between two groups of hustlers that don't let you relax. The entire day they would bother you. The security needed security, if anything popped off... Dude would not be able to keep you safe. My wife was harassed by this guy in a red shirt who kept trying to get her to go on a boat. I almost got into a fight because he wouldn't leave. Also the staff told us we could go back to Samsara at any time. You can. It will cost you though. Just like everything else at this "ALL INCLUSIVE". When we got back to the cliffs, guess who was there... Mr.Boat guy, harassing guests. Once again I almost got into a fight with this guy. The response I got from management is "he's a local". So locals can get in without paying? If you live in Negril, Samsara is free I guess. Also the 4 free restaurant rides are a fabrication, we asked and never got a response. I tried speaking to the "owner" twice. He literally walked away from me both times mid conversation. It was really nice seeing your workers paint your villa next door, while your hotel has broken windows and pipes. This is not a three star, or a two star. It was a waste of money and I hope CC takes this listing down.

Bucket list checkoff

My husband and I fell in love with Negril 5 years ago, and we have been returning every April since. We saw Samsara while on a boat ride a few years back and have dreamt of staying in a Pillar house. We booked it-upgraded to Pillar house. The positives: beautiful view, gorgeous sunsets, clean pool, access to beach at Legends....Legends(the sister resort) was the best part of the trip. The disappointments: very limited amenities( towels, personal touches), pillar house needs repair (stairs and balcony, lack of outlets, no bureaus, no hair dryer, no fridge , poor internet access),Food was good but was the same every day, the staff was overall unpleasant (this was very surprising to us-we hadn't experienced that in Negril before-we constantly felt as though we were "putting them out" when we went to meals or ordered drinks from the bar), no nightly entertainment, and the grounds were in great need of some sprucing up(flower beds full of weeds/grass-no flowers stairs from the cliffs were in very poor shape). We have NEVER had any complaints before traveling "home" to Jamaica-this was a disappointing choice for us. We don't regret going to Samsara, but we will not be returning-it is perfect for someone who wants a totally secluded and quiet get away with little to no amenities. We are very thankful that we booked excursions and took advantage of the beach...that made our trip. The view is breathtaking, but overall, it did not meet our expectations.

Would never return

Let me start with the pictures of the resort. It is not as nice as pictured, but it is a beautiful location. The resort is a little bit more run down than shown. Problems: We bought the all inclusive package. All inclusive at Samsara does not include wine in the beverage package. A glass of wine cost as much or more than it would dining out in the US. Also the food was incredibly monotonous. Every meal seemed like a theme and variation of the previous meal. I can't say the food was bad. It wasn't. It was just very repetitive. The Samsara website shows you can order ala carte if you do not want the meal served that day, and you can. You just have to pay for it out of pocket. My wife and I ate off the resort the last 3 days of our 8 day trip. We just couldn't take it any more. There are no food or snacks available between meal times. Not a chip, not a pretzel, not a cracker, nothing. Meal times 8-10AM, 12-2pm, 7pm to 9pm. I you eat lunch at 12, its a long wait until 7 for anything else, unless you want to pay out of pocket. There was no drink service. There is one bar and you have to go up to the bar to get a drink during the limited hours is is open. There is no wait staff for the pool or ocean front area. My wife tried to get a diet coke one day at 945 AM and the person at the bar refused as it was not open until 10. Again the all inclusive is misleading. When you go up to the bar they have a drink menu for the all inclusive and a separate drink menu for cash. Jamaica is beautiful, The people are friendly. But we were very disappointed by our stay at Samsara.

Low quality food and service

We stayed in Negril at Samsura for Christmas until New Year's Eve! 2016 Most of the staff were unfriendly and the food was inedible. While I was there everyone spoke about how bad the food was not only myself! The beds were very uncomfortable and would not recommend them if you have any back issues! The toilet didn't flush and the water would either be too cold or too hot! The location was wonderful! The resort was in walking distance to many fun places to see and shop! We loved the cliffs and snorkeling! Also I enjoyed the fact that we could go to the sister resort and spend sometime on the sister resort on seven mile beach! The food at the sister resort was just as bad! We were very disappointed that the activities we had booked online with cheapcarribbean.com were very far away and had spent 5 hours each way (14 hours total day) on a bus and the driver was driving so crazy that other passengers felt bad for us when they got off knowing we were still traveling much more to return to Negril! I asked the driver to slow down but he wouldn't listen! It was extremely nerve racking! Also when we met with the booking agent she scheduled us for a pick up early one morning but they didn't show up because she had sent them to the wrong hotel and the other 2 excursions when we arrived were all screwed up! Needless to say we didn't go to any others! We would not recommend this resort!

Nice and Quiet

The hotel is in a quiet and secluded area off the cliffs, we arrived at 3:00 and lunch was over so they gave us a "one time" inclusive late menu that had only 4 items to choose from. The scenery is beautiful and not a lot of small kids at this resort. We stayed at a cabin that was nice and spacious, it was kind of management to upgrade us at no additional charge when we got there because we had a garden room. The staff is nice and friendly, you get original Jamaican dishes, the only complaint i have is alot of the dishes were the same and if you wanted something different you had to pay. This was a last minute trip and it was definately worth the price considering we went during the holidays. I would recommend for couples but not for families because they have no entertainment or events during the day or evening.
