A + + + Vacation Resort, Best Value for the money

The resort was awesome, excellent service with hard working people and the quality of the rooms are outstanding I would rate this almost a 5 star hotel. Me and my girlfriend stayed at the 8th floor and it was very clean. I went the 3rd week in January and the weather was not that great due to a blizzard in NJ that dumped 30 + inches of snow, definitely had a effect on us, it was very breezy, wind gusts on the beach all over, and temperature 70-74 degrees on average with barley any sun mostly cloudy 90 % of the time. We stayed Sunday morning to Sunday night and we got 3 best days out of it that you can enjoy on the beach with some sun. Service is A + +, The hotel shows are outstanding every night, the bars are great with drinks I think they use a little to much sugar in there drinks. The food I honestly don't know what people are complaining about, Definitely a excellent variety of food from beef to chicken, fish and seafood was the best on Friday. I did not get sick from bottled water or any food. I had a pleasant A + + Time I I wish the weather was in the 80s like the week before or after lol. We did 3 excursions in Mexico Chichen Itza trip and sinkhole & we did the Mexico isla-mujeres. Due to the winds for isla-mujeres all sports where canceled unfortunately but we got to snorkel which was amazing and the ocean water is warm. Chichen Itza trip was very good as well the weather played well and it was worth seeing one of the 7 wonders world, lots of history. Once again I would rate the hotel from a scale 1 to 10, I would give it a 9.0 because its CLEAN, Maintained very well, Service is A + +, activities everyday and very hard working people. Pools are clean, Food is great and ocean spot is one of the cleaner areas. I had a blast I can not complain, Thank You =) .

Best prices, Great Service, great for all ages

This was one of the cheaper resorts to stay at. Which, initially made us nervous. But when we got there, service was great! The rooms aren't ready until 3:00pm and very rarely do they have one ready before that (ours wasn't ready until 5:30) So some words of advice, have your beach tote ready to go when you step off the plane if you're arriving in the morning. It seems to be very safe there-since we got there at 10:30am, we had to leave our luggage on the porch of the resort until 5:30pm and we had no issues with anyone tampering with it. Wake up early, get a towel, and reserve your pool chairs or they're going to be limited if you wait (8:00am or before is ideal to reserve yours). Take some U.S. $1.00s if you can for tipping. We found it was better to tip house keeping daily vs. at the end of your stay. We have found other vacations/beach stays to offer aloe in the room with your complimentary toiletries; this place did not. I can not emphasize too much to BRING YOUR OWN SUNSCREEN AND ALOE. They're all $20+ (U.S) at the pool and gift shop. So pack your own! But the wait staff put U.S. servers to shame if you ask me; even at some high end restaurants. The pool servers are more than eager to help you and drinks keep coming. The entire resort is clean. No piece of trash is overlooked when they're cleaning (which is constantly, and in a good way) and the food is good. You have to make reservations at a lot of places by lunch time (same day), so be prepared to make reservations. The buffet does not require reservations, and we found the buffet to be better than the restaurants. We didn't add any international minutes/data to our phones (coming from the U.S.) and wish we would have. The cable down there has approx 2 english channels-in case you would want to bring other entertainment. The pool has a shallow area for little ones and a small water park too. The resort is age friendly for anyone. We highly recommend it; especially for first timers! Hope this helps!

Great vacation but.

The service at the hotel was excellent, the rooms are average as far as decor and toy really need to moderate your AC and opening of your windows to avoid the moisture in your room which builds up a mildew odor. There are hosts that are very helpful and knowledgable while others appear to just want the day to go by essentially the ones that are in tip positions are much more helpful. We went on two excursions which were awesome. The guides were very informative and friendly but at times rushing everyone to move on which takes away from the experience. Try not to listen to all their negative blabbering about time sharing crews and crime etc, is not there they just feed you this so they appear protective and concern for your welfare etc. We are not cheap and tip regardless that tips are included but bring your own change because fit obvious reasons they will always say they do not have it and focus on the exchange rate of the dollar vs the peso as you will see they will try to skim some extra value from you when you pay with dollars. If you have everything booked prior to your arrival you will notice they are not as interested and helpful but having been on other such trips we expected it. All in all room maiintamance was excellent, room layout and appearance is ok, nightly shows are average, hotel layout is very good, access to pools and beach is excellent, food is good but for theist part repetitive, dining options are below average, there are buses right outside the hotel running every 5 minutes to get you where u need to go, overall service from 1 to 10 is an 8... Having said all that and knowing what we know we would go again and recommend it.

Service was impecable

We originally were going back to Punta Cana but changed last minute to Cancun. My friends booked this resort and I was iffy at first because we loved the Bahia last year so much. But we went with the Royal Solaris and I'm so glad we did. The food was ok. Most all inclusive resorts have ok food. Never expect it to blow you away. General mexican and American food etc. They had a couple of options. Marco Polo (their restaurant) was delicious. The staff was amazing and service was wonderful. We tipped everyone. We tipped the bar and pool waiter each $20 in the beginning of the week and used the same people the whole time. We tipped $2 for each service time/experience after that and tipped $20 at the end again. At meals, we tipped about $2-5 each time. They don't make much normally and always are smiling and give great advice etc.They don't try to swindle you with excursions etc. They don't lie to you about prices or experiences. They are extremely helpful with problems and many of them seem to really care when something goes wrong. Excursion options were great. They do solicit people a little. asking you to do water excursions by the pool or other excursions by the welcome desk but the excursions make your trip. bc you get to really see Mexico and experience so many beautiful things. on excursions, remember to bring money to tip because excursion employees work for tips Our only problems were that they accidentally gave us two separate full beds instead of one big bed and there is no room service. Overall, I would recommend this hotel again and stay there in the future. Also, THEY ALLOW YOU TO RELEASE BABY SEA TURTLES INTO THE OCEAN WITH THEM. My absolute favorite part. Cancun is huge on environmental preservation and they save sea turtle nests at this hotel. Its amazing

Royal Solaris Cancun "Say Yes to Solaris!"

Though at first my wife and I were not sure of how the hotel would be, we were pleasantly surprised as we pulled up to the reception area. The property was clean and inviting from the moment we walked in. Right then, we knew we made the right decision. Our room had a beautiful view of the pool and beach. If you go, definitely upgrade to Ocean View. The rooms were clean and bright. Fridge was well stocked and refilled upon request. The pool area had a number of areas to set up camp or you could just veg out on the beach. In any case, there was beverage service always at your chaise side. The restaurants had the usual choices that you would expect from a mid-range continental type restaurant and the buffet restaurant had plenty of choices to put a good meal together. The nightlife was adequate. The nightly shows were entertaining. The dancing at the lobby bar could have went longer. all and all, we would highly recommend the Royal Solaris Cancun!

Ok resort but beware of the Club Membership pitch

This place is ok but be careful with the guy who greets you after you check in. He will try to convince you to setup an appointment for a "30min" presentation , and offer you free wifi for a day. DON'T DO IT. Let me tell you what the pitch is so that you go prepared. So for the membership you get to stay in a jr sweet for that same price as an ocean view room. And you get a membership with RCI Resorts and ICE Rewards program. Google it and do your research, THEY ARE WORTHLESS. They describe it as unbelievable but i didn't have time to do my research on it until after i had signed the contract. By law you have 5 days to cancel. So i went the next day and nobody even wanted to talk to me after being treated like a king the day before. I was passed around to 5 different offices and everybody told me that i could not cancel because it was a "promotional offer". It is false advertising at its best. If you get caught in this, cancel as fast as you can and don't believe them if they say you can't. Do you research on these programs and be prepared. The best this is to not go to the "30min" presentation. They got me but now i want everybody to know Your welcome people!!!!

October 2016 stay

We stayed at the Royal Solaris Cancun for 7 days in October 2016 as a second choice due to Hurricane Matthew hitting the Bahamas where we were supposed to go on this vacation. Cheap Caribbean staff were very good about changing locations as were airlines due to this natural disaster as they did not charge any additional fees, when we arrived at the Royal Solaris we were sadly disappointed by the appearance of the hotel both in the ambiance and the personnel staff members. This hotel was advertised as a 4 star or palm tree hotel and it is far from this. I love Mexico and as long as I have access to the beach I really don't care about anything else, but this hotel disappointed me. The food was terrible in both the general dining room and in Marco Polo one of the restaurants. There was not enough bar staff at the beach or at the pool and only 1 bar by the pool that served the swim up bar, the beach staff, the pool staff and anyone who walked up to the bar. No ok!!! Also lunch was served outside each day and unfortunately the only place to sit were at small round marble tables that were so hot from the sun that you could sit at the table but watch out- dont actually touch the table as you would get burned. I felt the room was a good and the staff made up the room each day without issue. I will not go back to this hotel in the future.

Good deal overall but smal problems with the rooms

Overall the place was good. The location was beautiful, the public areas were very nice, well kept and well stocked. The pool and restaurants had everything you need. The shows were fantastic for a quick outing at night although some of them were a little too sexy to be family-friendly in our opinion. But they aren't billed that way anyway. The food was plentiful and good, and the nicer restaurants were very very good. The service was pleasant and quick. Our main concern was that the rooms were not very good. They looked nothing like the ones in the pictures when I booked this package. (Maybe some rooms got this upgrade but ours certainly did not.) There was no ventilation in our bathroom whatsoever, so the shower fogged up the place in no time, making it very difficult for a family of four to get ready in the morning. And with the humidity in the region the only way to dry the mirror and sink etc was by using the hairdryer and by cranking up the AC. There was also a serious lack of places to hang wet swimsuits and towels - hooks, etc. that you commonly find in modern hotel rooms, and so we were forced to hang them in closets on hangers or over nice furniture, which I'm sure the property owners wouldn't like. Since it's a beach/pool hotel it's even more necessary than usual to have adequate utilities like this. It took swim suits 3 days to dry for example, if that, so it became a small problem as they became smelly and uncomfortable. It also makes me think that mold would be developing over a short period of time in the bathrooms b/c of the fact that no small fans were even around. I would suggest bringing a small portable fan to help make your room experience better. Or maybe the hotel will install ventilation in bathrooms eventually? The only other thing that was a problem was that the outlets in the rooms were scarce and many didn't work well as they seemed worn out. Things wouldn't stay plugged in in one out of every two outlets on the wall. So with today's use of electronic devices such as cell phones that need to be recharged constantly, doing this was difficult. We had to unplug the refrigerator most days to use that good outlet, and charge things in the bathroom, one of the only other good outlets, and again, it was 'wet' in there so it wasn't ideal for such devices. Overall, it just led to a less than relaxing experience b/c it seemed we had to 'jimmy-jack' every other thing in the room and it added stress where there should've been none. We were however, given an upgraded beach view room upon arrival without even requesting, and all small problems that were 'fixable' were fixed promptly once we addressed them with staff. It just seems that the hotel needs to address a few issues within the rooms to update the quality of the basic needs such as these. Still, a good deal for the price and you won't be disappointed with the look and location, its beach, and the overall experience. One great thing to add - we used the tour package desk for a trip to Chichen Itza and it turned out to be a great price and a wonderful experience. No pushy sales people there - just helpful folks who will take care of you. (Best Day ours was the one we used.)

Worst Experience Yet!

At Check in: Immediately after checking in, we were handed off to a sales representative! At first they start by giving you details about the hotel and hotel amenities and you won’t know that you’re actually talking to a sales representative until they have you sit down for a chat! This was the first time I had ever experienced this and it was the worst thing to experience while traveling with a child. All you want to do after arriving at a hotel is unwind in your room but we were denied this luxury when we got there. We ended up feeling pressured into signing up for one of their sales presentation. We did not receive a welcome drink at check in as we are accustomed to when visiting Riviera Maya resorts. Sales Presentation: No one ever wants to spend close to 2 hours of their vacation time in a sales presentation! No one! I have to mention that all but one of the sales representatives were supper nice. The one that was not is the “muscle guy” they usually call at the end when you have said no for about 3000 times. This guy was very degrading and made us feel so little. They encourage….no they force you to bring your children to the sales presentation with the promise of a kids club in the room. The so called “kids club” is a small room with glass walls and a few toys that makes it seem like your child is in time out while they should be enjoying the beach. What do you get for wasting away almost 2 hours of your vacation time cooped up in a sales office in full view of a beautiful beach? 50% off on tours! This is not worth your time considering most of us will already have prepaid for tours before going on vacation. Most importantly its 2 hours of your vacation time that you’ll never get back! Internet: We had to pay for WiFi! I came to learn that you only get free WiFi if you join the membership they try to sell you during their sales presentation. Internet was very spotty in my room. I had to be closer to the lobby to fully enjoy the WiFi I was paying for. Swim up Bar: The swim up bar only serves beer after a certain time of the day! What?? The pools looked good though. Snack Bars: My daughter was served a cold hot dog. The snack bars are not as impressive as most places we have been. Restaurants: The good: The variety of food was impressive. The bad: The enthusiasm of the staff was not all that impressive. Worst of all, the alcohol drink choices were very boring and the staff did not seem to be in sync with the bar tender. No alcohol available during breakfast hours! This is Cancun people! You want to be able to drink as soon as you can! Bars: Opens at 9:00 am. Really? Took forever to get a buzz off the alcohol! At some point we just started ordering double shots in all our drinks.

Great Getaway

A friend and I came here for the week and although we had a great time and were very comfortable, there were some complaints. For one, the swim up bar stop serving liquor and only serves beer at 5pm. Then, at 6pm, it closes for the night. I realize this isn't a big deal for most but how do you have an all-inclusive resort close the bar at 6pm?? We both took a SCUBA lesson (which is done in the pool) and being able to see huge hair balls and dead insects all over was a bit gross. I realize I could only see these things because I had a mask on. The biggest complaint, upon arriving, we checked in and were then greeted by a man named Omar. He was full of energy, personable, and funny. The problem was, we weren't being shown to our room... we were being primed for a membership seminar. When I've just arrived at a hotel after being on an airplane for 3 hours the LAST thing I want to do is take 20 minutes to listen to a spiel about joining the resort. I felt pressured and it was the opposite of what vacation should be. The resort itself was very pretty, the staff were all super friendly and attentive, and I had a very enjoyable time.
