RIU Reggae

The staff were the nicest most helpful of any resort I visited. They seemed to truly live for me having a good time. Very clean, very up to date.

Love RIUs

Brand new. Rooms are modern and clean. Everyone is very friendly and ready to meet your needs. The entertainment crew is very hard working and their shows are entertaining. Food is good and abundant. Great place to party with friends and make friends!

Beautiful but VERY BORING

The resort is beautiful. However, it is boring as heck. There isn't much to do at the resort. Little activities/entertainment, if any at all. The resort appeared to be a senior citizen or retirement place for the elderly. My friends and I chose to stay here because we didn't want to risk running into our students during Spring Break. We spent 90% of our time at the sister resort RIU Montego Bay. RIU REGGAE food was disgusting, but the restaurant food was good and we didn't need an reservation. They had a dress code, which is very uncommon for an Adult Only resort so make sure you're covered up. The drinks wasn't very tasty, but we all know how resorts water down the alcoholic drinks. I would NOT stay here again! And I wouldn't recommend this resort to anyone under the age of 60. This resort was DEAD!! Whew! Very sad. Even the elderly at the sister resort was having a great time. You would get much for your money at another resort. Also, it's no shuttles for this resort unless you're doing a tour. At the sister resort and other resorts, free shuttles are there to take you anywhere you want to go. We took shuttles from the sister resort. But I would only come here if I wanted some alone time and not to be bothered. I hope this helps! Oh! The airport is less than 5 mins away!!!!!

New Montego Bay Riu!

The Riu Reggae is a the newest of the Rius in Montego Bay. We upgraded from the original package we bought and think it was an excellent decision. The location is great, the beach is beautiful the pools are amazing the night shows excellent! You don't need reservations for the restaurants and that worked very well for us. We only went down at 6:00 to stay in line (which was very short) the first night because of the reviews we read previously to going... the other nights we either did not have to wait or the wait was very short. The food was very good considering that we were in an all inclusive resort. I particularly liked the inclusion of champagne as one of the drinks options... their champagne, from the Brut brand was very good and did it for me in place of the prosecco or wine I like to drink. The staff are outstanding and always go out of their way to make sure we have a good time and they achieve it!! Shampoo started our day with the beach aerobics, which was wonderful...then there is a lot of options in the resort for water activities or sand volleyball... The lunch, with the jerk chicken, was excellent and the highlight of the day! The atmosphere is relaxed and the grounds beautifully kept. We highly recommend this resort for a relaxed week on the beach and hope to visit again!

Amazing adult get away

The hotel, beach, and pool were fabulous. The hotel staff was fabulous and the Jamaican people in general were fun and warm. The hotel was a little stingy with bottled water and towels, but eventually you get what you need! The buffet was good, but basically the same food everyday. Restaurant food delicious but long lines and waits, luckily we had a friend who would go to the bar and grab drinks while we stood there. But somehow it didn't matter all that much, was slightly awkward to have people peering through the window waiting while you eat. Gift shops were nice and much like a botique. I loved to be able to walk the beach and check out the other 2 Riu resorts (though you can't hang out at the Palace Riu). The drive to Rick's was long, but worth it for the cliff divers! Ganja is everywhere. You can get it from the taxi driver or anyone walking the beach. Haggle for it and other purchases. The weather was perfect, only a few scattered showers that weren't much of a bother. A few of us got a little bit of a stomach issue from perhaps the drinks (pina coladas maybe). Overall an amazing get away that ended way too fast!

Good Value

Overall the resort was very clean and modern. The staff was very friendly and helpful. But compared to other all-inclusive's we have stayed in it was very small. and the pools were not glamourous, just straight rectangular. I would say next time we would stay at Riu Montego Bay because it was larger and had more to offer .

Yamming in Jamaica

It was a good experience, drinks (Chivas 12 was the top) are ok. People are friendly. Food was ok. Beach was clean. They clean the room every day. It's one nite club for 3 riu hotels which it was awesome . The no reservations to the restaurants are perfect. Yerk chicken was on point. Clean hallways. Good a/c. Nice view. No mosquitoes even though I'm Spanish. Weed is on your discretion in smoking areas. Easy to get it. Smoke in the balcony not in the room please. Free style is one of the entreteiment person the most friendly one and craziest in a good way. Night shows are perfect . Great reggae music llive and by the pool They have a lot of activities. The planes past rite over at least ten per day it make loud noise only during the day 1pm-5pm but I don't mind. Is fun to see them until is ur turn to go back home .. They have no motorized water sports for free. U are safe 100 % inside the hotel I don't know about outside. I will go back

Riu Reggae

This is a nice resort if it is what you can afford. It has most of the amentities. Rooms are clean and comfortable but lack coffee maker and clocks and/or alarms. This is NOT a 5 star resort. The service is excellent. The resort does have several drawbacks. If you are looking for a quiet restful vacation this resort is not for you (think Spring Break atmosphere.) It is in the direct flight path of the Montego Bay airport so you have a jet going over the resort every 12 minutes from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The restaurants could benefit from a revision to service, i.e., their specialty restaurants are not really specialty. The only difference between them is that you have table service for entrees only. The rest is still the same as the main buffet and is self serve on salads, soup and dessert, etc. Only their gourmet restaurant offers full table service. Since Jamaica passed its' no smoking law, smoking areas are limited and the no smoking policy is STRICTLY enforced. Both pools are NOT for swimming. They are 1.5 meters deep so you can splash around but not swim; plenty of seats/tables for drinkers. The beach is excellent but does not possess umbrellas or cabanas for shade, only young palm trees. The upside is we booked the On Beach Romantic private dinner for two at an extra cost and it was well worth it. It was the hiighlight of our trip! The butler, champagne, salad, bisque,10 oz. steak with a 10 oz lobster tail, exquisite dessert along with the privacy were unparalleled. As a side note, if you are travelling with someone who requires a wheel chair, make reservations with an outside agency well before you travel. I would give this resort 3 stars. It was pleasant but not exceptional.

Best Birthday Ever

My first trip to Jamaica on my birthday I chose to stay at the Rui Reggea. My stay there was amazing the staff was pleasant and professional from the day I came to my final farewell. The food was amazing, entertainment great, and water activities a lot of fun. I received a birthday call and gift which truly made me feel special. I would recommend Rui Reggea to anyone wanting to have a great time on Montego Bay.
