This hotel was very nice. The gym was out of the way, but it had everything you could want. The property was nice. The pool with the swim up pool bar wasn't much of a "swim-up". They hardly ever had anyone there. You had to get out of the pool and get your own drink. That same pool wasn't cleaned very well daily. Many people use it, it's by the beach, and the people drinking are all there. There is sand, wrapper, etc. in the mornings. The views are great and it's directly across from the market. Great location. The staff was really nice as well. We did enjoy our stay and would stay there again if we return.
Please note that my ratings are from 2007, when it was still the Westin. It could be better now, or it could be worse. I really enjoyed my stay, but I would highly recommend avioiding the restaurants onsite and eating over at the Lucaya marketplace, which is literally just across the street. MUCH cheaper, and the food is better. I have heard complaints of th staff being rude, but I had no problems with them myself.
Though the Radisson has excellent accommodations, for us it was all about location. The Port of Our Lucaya being directly across the street really added an extra dimension of entertainment. Not to mention the casino which is also in close proximity. The food, the nightlife, the overall experience was outstanding. A great place to relax and not have to worry about what you are going to do with your time, there are options abound right within walking distance. We will definitely return.
Although the weather did not cooperate at all - we had a good time at this resort. Because it is a 3 minute walk from the "market" with many shopping and dining options, you did not need a car. The hotel overall was good although the prices for drinks/food within complex were steep. The pools were very nice and right on the beach which was pretty. The fitness center was very nice. It's a perfect 3-4 night getaway with plenty in walking distance. The staff needed to be "beefed" up a little but it was there quiet season with not many guests. Good value through Cheap Caribbean.
This was my 5th trip to this resort. Used to be a Westin. Beautiful property, but could use a little maintenance. Beaches are stunning and love the infinity pool. Noticed cutbacks in hotel staff compared to prior visits. Of the ~600 rooms, only 60 were occupied. We couldn't understand why they don't do more to promote this resort. A few days the hotel rented pool and beach facilities to cruise ship guests. Then the pool was swarming with people. Pool attendants weren't very friendly and bar staff were not very outgoing either. Love the resort but there's room for improvement.
Had a great time. The beach, infinity pool, hot tub, swim up bars....all great. The big lawn at the plantation style house with rocking chairs was great too. And it was right across the street from a marketplace so we had options for dining, buying cigars off resort property etc. And we were close to excursion places, a great scuba center too.
Visited in January, we had the whole place to ourselves. Very well kept, clean and friendly surroundings. Food on resort way to expensive, eat across the street at the market. Cruise ships do bring in their people to the beach but you can escape them when they arrive by moving farther away from their centralized location. Pools were cold in January, but we had wet suits.
We spent about 4 days at Our Lucaya. The weather was terrible for most of the trip, but I can't fault the resort for that, and the place did provide quite a few amenities that helped tide us over until the sun returned. Being close to the casino and the shopping district was a great plus. There was no need to drive or take a cab/bus anywhere (great for if you just want to get away) There could have been some better dining options in the area.
The hotel staff were extremely nice and accomodating. The hotel was very clean and neat. Their were a lot of fun things to do and good places to eat accross from the hotel. I would recommend this hotel for a quiet romantic getaway.
I had a wonderful time! Poeple and place were wonderful..The beach goes on forever, and the beautiful pool wanders in and out across the property beautifully..PortLucaya and the wonderful marketplace is right acrosss the road...with many restaurants and attractions, The bonus of that harborI was wonderful and the Count Basie dance and music square, with live music many nights, was terrific. The food was great, and I ate so much local, fresh conch that I thought I would grow a shell on my back! (Smile)
