This is a great place to stay if you're happy to not be on the ocean. The small beach is on the harbor side and is very clean. The buffet and bar food are good and the 'fine dining' restaurant is quite nice. The staff is very accomodating. I've stayed there twice and have been pleased.
Building needed updating had trouble with plumbing on arrival, was handled in a timely manner . Staff was awesome, food was average. Computer pictures was nothing like the real thing. Was within walking distance of Atlantis and down town.
Great Vacation spot.... So relaxing.......... Very much enjoyed and will go back.......
This was an excellent place to go for the value-- it is easy to feel as though you are getting your money's worth. It was even better to be within walking distance to the overhyped Atlantis, whether to play in the casino section, have a great meal at one of the many restaurants, to view the underwater exhibit, or to buy a pass at the waterpark there. You have to take a taxi into downtown, but that alone is worth the cab fare for spending the day shopping and/or hanging out at such seaside restaurants as Senor Frog's =, where you can kick back with a cocktail or two and watch the cruise ships come and go.
The overall experience was fine for us...but if you're looking for a nice vacation, pick another resort. I didn't do too much research on this place before booking - I knew it was a "man made beach" but didn't really understand what that meant. Turns out the beach is fine (small) but the water was a little gross and smelly because all the boats dock right across from there. The pool was also a little on the gross side one or two days...but still swim-able. Luckily, on our second day we discovered a public beach was within a 10 minute walk. The public beach was gorgeous - I highly recommend going there instead of hanging out by the pool. Food was just ok...a couple days it was good, but there wasn't much to choose from, and not much for generic/kid-friendly food except for out by the pool. The food by the pool was pretty good...as were the drinks. Service in the buffet room was pretty bad. We were ignored for all except 2 meals for our whole 5-day stay. We watched the wait staff fill up other peoples' water glasses, offer to bring them coffee or tea, etc...and we just sat there. My friend asked one time for iced tea after hearing the table next to us get OFFERED it...and the waitress's response was "its over there". If you're looking just for a place to stay and eat in the Bahamas, then this is definitely the right resort. But, it's not a place you want to plan to hang out at all day long. For the money spent, it wasn't a bad value...but I don't think I would stay there again. I plan to try the RIU next time - it was right next to the public beach we went to.
We took our kids here for Thanksgiving. The food was great. The resort was clean & very close to everything. The entertainment could have been a little better & 1 elevator always seemed to break, but other than that, we really had a fantastic time & would defiinately go back!
The best thing I can say about the Paradise Island Harbour Resort is the location. Just a short stroll from Atlantis, and that is where we went every day. The food was average at best. The employees were very nice, the room looked very old but clean. I would pay a little more the next time and stay at a better place with more dining options.
Our experience here was great, the people we're very friendly and the food was very good. Our only complaint which was'nt the hotel's fault was getting from the airport to there. Our cab driver took us to the wrong hotel. I like that is was in walking distance to a lot of things to do. I would definitely go back and stay there again. I felt very comfortable and the employees treated us like family.
College kids looking to go on Spring Break, this resort is perfect. Cheap deals, all inclusive, great pools and beach. Rooms simple, but perfect if you don't plan on being there long. Staff great! Drinks and food delicious!!
My husband and I chose the Paradise Island Harbour Resort primarily for the value. We got a very good deal through Cheap Caribbean, and we couldn't pass it up. We both went into this vacation not expecting any bells and whistles from the resort. We were pleasantly surprised. The hotel, though not impressive from the outside, was clean and comfortable. The check-in was pretty quick, and they served us a Bahama Mama as we checked in. We were upgraded to a harbour view room, which really made our experience worthwhile. We spent a lot of time on the balcony overlooking the harbour. Food at the hotel was above average. The buffet had something that both us could eat every night. We especially liked that the buffet stayed open til about 10, so we could grab a little late night snack. The pool-side bar food was you typical bar food, but with options like seafood and konk fritters (which I recommend trying). One thing to keep in mind about visiting the Bahamas in June is that it is very close to East Coasters high school graduation. Right around mid-afternoon until evening the bar was full of 18-21 year olds getting drunk. They got pretty rowdy everyday. We just avoided that bar at those peak times. The Harbourview Restaurant is the sit-down restaurant that you need to make a reservation with. Although they tried to jazz up the food, we could tell it was just some of the buffet food and bar food spruced up a bit. It was still good, though. The service was great here, and it was quieter in that restaurant. The private beach area was perfect for my husband and I, because we aren't avid swimmers. The water wasn't rough, and it was clear. We really enjoyed going to the beach early, while it wasn't too crowded. If we got tired of the sand, we would just walk over to the salt-water pool. It was nothing special, but it was always a comfortable temperature. We never had a problem finding lounge chairs either. The room itself was big, and it has tile floors. The one complaint about the room would be the thermostat. Although we kept turning the AC up, the room was still freezing. Nothing fancy but clean. Things I would really research first are the excursions. My husband and I only went on one bus tour of the city. It was not worth the money. We were also not impressed with the service at Magestic Tours. They were short and at times rude. Also, keep in mind that everything is on "island time." The buses and shows may not happen at the time they say it will, but it will happen! We just adjusted our internal clocks, and it made things very relaxed on the vacation. We would recommend this resort to anyone wanting a relaxing and somewhat inexpensive vacation.
