We had a wonderful vacation and found that our biggest decision of the day was whether to start at the pool or the beach...both were beautiful. The grounds were kept up beautifully. The staff was warm and welcoming especially the server at the beach restaurant/bar. This resort is a little older but our room was clean and had all the amenities you would need (full kitchen, tv, w/d, etc). Right outside the resort was a small convenience store which was great for water and small items. The fitness room was well equipt for a resort gym - though a walk on the beach was the preferred form of exercise. We will definitely return!
This was our first trip to Turks & Caicos. My Husband and I LOVED it. We are 28 & 30 so we were looking just to relax and enjoy the sun, the food, and the relaxing atmosphere. We took a 15min. cab ride from the airport to the Ocean Club West and checked in in less than 10 min. We were brought to our room by golf cart (which wasn't necessary b/c the room was a 100 ft walk from the entrance). We walked into the room and it was perfect. We got a jr. suite but there were also 1 & 2 bedroom rooms available if you had more than 2 people. The larger rooms have full kitchens, dining rooms, living rooms, biger porches, etc. The kitchenette was the perfect size, we had a pantry, everything we needed for utencils and pots/pans to cook, a blender, toaster, microwave, 2 burner stove, huge sink, etc. Then we open the closet and found a stackable washer & dryer with detergent and a drying rack! The bathroom had a tub and was a good size, the king size bed was great (a little stiff but was fine for us). The 32" flat screen with all the channels was great to watch the Boston sports on (and we did!) The cute loveseat in the small sitting area was great to lounge on. The porch had a 3 pained slider which 2 of the 3 opened up to the porch so you had like a 3 seasons room. The best thing about this place was it is the only resort to have fully screened in porches! We slept with the slider doors open every nightso we could enjoy the trade winds! The tennis courts were great (We played 1 morning). They provide gatorade containers filled with ice water by the tennis courts, the pool, and the beach so you can always access a nice cold cup of water. The pool was beautiful, there were 2 very nice new gas grills that we were able to use to cook dinner 3 of the 7 nights we were there. The beach was perfect. The chairs and umbrellas and tables available for use were pleanty and you had enough space between you and other guests where you didn;t feel crowded. We were able to use the bikes with baskets to go to the grocery store (5 min. bike ride away), to go to breakfast at the Saltmills Cafe (great food, service is 50/50), and to explore the island (Casino was a 7 min. walk from OCW). My husband and I loved our experience and would definitely go back to Ocean Club West!
We origianlly had a one bedroom but upgraded to a two bedroom ocean front room. The cost was worth it! Every morning waking up to the sounds of the ocean was amazing. The whole wall just about opened up because they were sliding glass doors onto the patch of landscape between us and the ocean. Cool nightly breezes were enjoyed instead of the air conditioning. The room had a few noisy ceiling fans but the breezes from the beach were enough to be comfortable. I think in the summer you are going to have to use AC. The beach was a perfect 10 with pleny of lounge chairs, umbrellas and towels. There are other Resorts that are newer or fancier but they were also several $100 more a night. Overall the experience was very good, you can drink the water and the flight from NYC to Provo isn't bad at all. Enjoy.
Ocean Club West is in a great location at Grace Bay. The beach is gorgeous, and the resort if right in the middle of it. Walking distance to the shops, the grocery store, and restaurants.
We stayed at OC for 10 days. Could have stayed longer. This is a property with individually owned condo units so all rooms are not decorated the same. Our unit was lovely. It had a vaulted ceiling and granite countertops in the kitchen & bathroom. We really like having the full kitchen with a stove, fridge and dishwasher. We also like having a washer/dryer in the unit. We booked a junior suite(900 sq ft). I liked that you had options here. You can dine out or cook in your room. They also provide grills down by the pools. Only one problem during our stay, the a/c broke. However when I notified the front desk and they had someone look at it, they did offer us another room pronto, but we declined because with the screened in porch, we left our doors open all night and loved the breeze. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking a a quiet resort. The island itself is VERY expensive. For example, a package of english muffins was $7.25US. We did find a wonderful bakery called the Caicos Bakery. Fench bakers. The Graceway supermarket isnt far. Its by OC West which was also a nice resort. Taxis are very expensive in Proco. They need a public transportation system, like Bermuda or Aruba. Who wants to pay $30 for a taxi to dinner? The restuarants we wen to added 10% tax to the food plus tip. An average dinner out for two is about $100 plus tax and tip. Depending on what you drink. Alcohol is also very expensive if bought on the island. Buy at the airport if you can.
This was a great resort, excellent service, but always letting in mosquitoes as well as a trail of ants always on the counter top. The hotel is equiped with wifi, so you can always find local eateries. There is also a fridge to store your food and a grill outside to cook if you're not feeling the local food. The beach is right there so you can just wake up and walk to the beach for your tan.
Second year in a row for us at Ocean Club .....Can't beat the weather, the sunsets, the accomodations and the relaxing atmosphere..The staff is always helpful and friendly. One of our favorite vacation spots. Will definitely go back next year
I have been to many Caribbean islands over the past decade: Anguilla, Grenada, St. John, St. Lucia, etc. I have stayed in both super high end, and budget places. Ocean Club is the one place I have visited more than any other. It has an amazing beach, and great food options all around. The rooms are fine. They are clean, but nothing special. I choose Ocean Club because I would rather spend time on the beach than in the room. The value of Ocean Club is the beach. You can pay 2-3 times as much for resorts nearby if you need to, but I'd rather save the money. Just back last night, and we are already trying to figure out when we can get away again for a return visit.
