My husband and I stayed here in April 2009 for a week. Let's start with the positives... We got massages at the spa (extra fee) that were nice. The room wasn't bad. It was clean, and AC was cool. Everything worked, etc. The pools were clean and reasonably populated. The casino was small but fed my need to gamble! We won a couple bucks, but it was all in fun. The hotel hires out private photographers to take your photos if you wish. Then you can view and choose to purchase them if you would like. The wasn't the typical hotel photographer either, they were more artistic and we ended up buying a few prints. The ocean was beautiful, bartenders friendly, and the kayaking and hobbie cats were the highlight for us! Now onto the improving.... Our balcony overlooked an empty lot and side road. Not the biggest deal in the world but could have been a lot nicer. We also had a room on the 3rd floor and there are no elevators. It was a long walk to the beach from our room and if you don't get to the beach literally before 7am to claim a shaded beach chair, you were stuck in the sun for the rest of the day. This was our biggest challenge as we didn't figure it out until our third day there. We would get to the beach around 10am and be dumbfounded that there were NO shaded chairs left... We did enjoy playing ping pong (yes, we are big kids!) in the kids club, but it was so hot in there and musty that we could only stay in there for short periods at a time. The kids who were bowling in there did appear to be having fun though! The restaurants decor was nice, but the food left much to be desired. We got tired of eating the same foods night after night. The service at the restaurants was not good. Very slow. If you needed something it was near impossible to get their attention. We mostly had dinner at the buffet so we didn't have to worry about being served. I would not stay here again. It is not bad, but not good either. I expected more I suppose.
We really enjoyed our stay here. We are an early 30's couple who brought our 10 month old daughter and just had an amazing time. The rooms were very clean and well kept. The restaurants were many and varied and delicious! We never had to wait and the food was well made. The beach was cleaned daily and there were plenty of chaise lounges in the sun or shade. Usage of hoby cats were included, as were rock wall climbing and snorkeling and several other things. Plenty of swim up pool bars. Friendly eager to please workers. Nice spa! I can't say enough about how clean it was. Always someone was scrubbing the walkways or cleaning the beaches. While we did take our daughter and there were a few other families with kids there, this resort caters to couples as well. Whatever you are interested in, they had it here. The vendors were a little pushy but just have a firm NO ready if you aren't interested and walk away. The nightly shows were REALLY good. They were tons of fun and a few had audience participation which was enjoyable as well. (As long as it was not me! LOL) Great resort we can't wait to go back to.
We had a wonderful time with plenty of activities for the whole family. The coffee shop had a variety of drinks and desserts and the dining options offered something different to satisfy everyone. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
We really enjoyed ourselves, however, we thought the staff at the front desk was youthful, lacked perfessionlism. They were nice and warm but lack the training that would build confidence in you that they really understood their role. The rooms were very clean the food was good, and all were friendly. If we had an opertunity to return we would.
Stayed at the ocean blue in June 2009. Went with my girlfriend for a romantic relaxing vaca for 5days. I'll start with the location. Cannot be beat. Unbelievable beaches and hotel grounds. Truly beautiful white sand clear water. Bungalows for shade and open space for tanning. Water was really amazing. I stayed in puerto plata the year before and the beach there doesn't compare to this cove in punta Cana. The hotel has two huge pools and swim up bars. Unique buildings and amazing landscaping. The atmosphere is very relaxed and calm with occasional music and games. Perfect for couples and families. The bar is great. Free drinks and not shy on the liquor , always can ask for more. Amazingly friendly staff. The food was very good for the price. Big portions nice breakfast options. Dinners were amazing at the Mexican restaurant. One bar is open all night long with food. The best part was the room. Big enough for a large family. Huge balcony and amazing bathroom with giant jacuzzi tub. Extremely clean and upheld. Comfy king size bed. Junior suite is the way to go. I would go back in a heartbeat. Just wear sun tan lotion or things can get unpleasant!
this was my first real vacation in a long time.i was very happy with my package deal which i purchased all inclusive is the only way to travel . starting with the airport then the hotel everyone was so attentive to my needs i had such a blast i plan to return next year.
Property was very well maintained. The common area almost felt like we were at a major themepark property. In one way a plus, but there wasn't a lot of island flare since I often felt I could be in Orlando. Rooms were very spacious and the beds were comfortable. The nightly shows were fine. Plenty to do at night for 16 and up since the disco allows 16 year olds in (doesn't allow them to drink, drinking age is 18). The sports bar also stays open til the wee hours of the night. My husband and 3 others we met did get sick even though they were trying to be careful of what they ate. Caution: A quick trip to the on premise doctor to get meds for the stomach issues was billed at $400USD!!!! My sons, ages 16 and 19 had a great time although I would recommend packing your own volleyball if you want to play beach volleyball outside of the little time it is organized by the staff. They do not "check out" balls at other times.
My husband celebrated his 70th birthday on this resort. The staff did their best to make his day very special with balloons and cake. We had 2 other couples with us and they enjoyed so much that 1 couple went back this year for a family reunion.
We visited Ocean Blue with our three teenage boys and we all had a blast. The beach and pool were wonderful. The boys loved the swim-up bar and were able to order 'drinks', non-alcoholic of course. Our room was a great location. Staff was pleasant. Food was plentiful.
My girlfriends and I traveled to Punta Cana and stayed at Ocean Blue the end of May 2010. The grounds were beautiful and well groomed. It rained almost the whole time during our stay and the side walks can become quite slick. Our room was very comfortable and our maid was fantastic. The food was pretty good. We enjoyed the Dominician place the most. The beach was very clean and the resort held activities for those that were interested. Good value for the money overall.
