I booked this resort because of the price but didn't know it was a walk to the restaurants shops and gym. I had to upgrade the first day to the more expensive sister resort on the ocean.
This was my third booking through cheapcaribbean.com and definitely the best resort we've stayed at so far. Also I use reviews to book the resorts and this is my first review so I will break it down into sections. Resort:This resort is actually 3 resorts in one. Now Garden, Now Larimar and Secrets. Staying at the Now Garden you have access to all of the Larimar's restaurants/entertainment/pool/beach but you do not have access to the Secrets part of the resort. The only "downfall" was that majority of the activities & restaurants are at the Larimar which is about a 5 min walk or 1 minute golf cart ride. The golf cart shuttles are constantly going back and forth we never had to wait more than 2 minutes for one to come pick us up. I did not find it inconvenient at all to be a little further away. Grounds: Constantly being upkept by groundskeepers. Saw pool being cleaned on multiple occasions. Saw maintenance being done to grounds. Extremely well kept. Service: Excellent! Every staff member was courteous and catering to our needs. Practically every staff member speaks English (the ones with more customer contact spoke more so than cleaning staff/groundworkers, etc). They go out of their way to make you happy! You are always greeted when passed by with a friendly hello. Food: There were many food options which we loved. Out of all the restaurants I would say the French is the best. My fiancé loved the buffet as well, I personally am not a fan of any buffets but they do have fresh made food options (omelettes in the morning and a pasta station at lunch). The fresh fruit and juices were delicious. Room: The room was somewhat on the smaller side but we didn't care as we spent most of our time outside. We chose the swim up room which was great and convenient. Just open the slider and you're right at the pool with 2 personal lounge chairs. Pools: So many pools! I personally loved the pool at the Now Garden. It is a horseshoe pool with a swim up bar in the middle. This pool was smaller than the Larimar's but I felt it was more secluded/ quieter! That being said there were less chairs/areas for shade at this pool so in the prime time hours one day we could not find chairs to lounge at closer to the bar. But it was ok because we had our own private chairs back at our room to lounge at for a few minutes before something opened up. At the Larimar we did not have any problems finding chairs at the pool. Our only issue with this pool was that there were many "spring breakers," a DJ and just a bit noisier for our taste. This could have been due to the time of year we traveled (Mid March). Beach: Beautiful! There was a lot of seaweed on the beach and in the water but I did see workers raking up as much as they could every day. It wasn't so much that it hindered my experience. Plenty of chairs on the beach as well. If you want to reserve an umbrella you may have to go a bit earlier but we found one during prime time. Activities: The activities at this resort were fun! They were family oriented but being a young couple without kids we had a lot of fun as well. They had bands playing/dancing every night at the Larimar. They had a beach party with a fire show which was wonderful. And plenty of other options such as exercise classes, etc. We checked out the night club one of the nights as well and it was pretty full with everyone dancing/having a good time. They do try to sell you on a "loyalty" program and offer free trips to try to get you to buy in. But I did not feel that the sales reps were pushy or rude. We spoke for about 90 minutes where they take you on a tour of the resort (secrets side), eat breakfast etc. We did not opt in to the program but we did get a little bonus for participating which we felt was worth the 90 mins. Overall I would definitely recommend this resort, hope this review helped :)
We just went to this resort Feb 2016. This resort was nice, not but not great. Our check-in was terrible... it took about 2.5 hours to get checked in and we were left standing there without people approaching us to see if we were checked in yet. When we finally were approached, they encouraged us to go to the pool and get some food and drinks because our room wasn't ready. The food and drinks were all pretty good, although we didn't get the same drink twice... meaning we ordered a Margarita (which were terrible) and each bartender made them differently. Most of the time the "margarita" tasted like banannas. That being said, for all inclusive, the food was actually very good. Each of the restaurants had their own theme and they were good. We had a "garden view" room, which actually looked over a vacant lot... which sometimes had men carrying guns patrolling (kinda spooky). The pools were very nice & comfortable. The entertainment crew was amazing. They did lots of neat performances and were extremely talented. Our biggest complaint was the “free spa credit.” I ended up getting a massage at the spa and the “credit” was over-ridden by a 28% tax that they applied to every service. I ended up paying double what I would have paid for a 50 minute massage at home. Plus, the massage itself was crazy! I’ve had my fair share of massages, and this lady went nuts! She bent me over backwards and lifted me up off the table with my hands behind my back. I was terrified the entire massage. On top of that, there were people in the main lobby of the Now Larimar that kept on bugging us to go to the breakfast and learn more about the resort. It was a total hard sale to sign up for their time share, which they call a “vacation club.” OMG!!! We had been through the time share talks before, so we knew what to expect… but these people were relentless. Then, on top of that… they weren’t going to honor the spa certificate I was supposed to receive for going to their time share spiel. We spent over 6 hours fighting with the people in the main lobby about getting the measly $100 credit applied to our account. It was such a waste of time!!! So, for that reason alone, we probably wouldn’t come back to this resort. The housekeeping staff was great… although the room when we arrived had smears of some random fluid all over our bathroom/shower door.
Second time to Punta Cana, and this place was much better than my first experience! The Garden is attached to mega-resort Larimar, which is also attached to "Secrets" (so basically, 3 resorts in 1). The golf cart is about a 1 minute ride, and we never really had to wait for it. The walk to the Larimar is about 5 minutes, along a paved, lighted pathway. Service was EXCELLENT at all bars and restaurants. The only issue service related that we had was the hostess at the French restaurant (we dealt with her twice, because she was working the Japanese restaurant when the French was closed) - she was EXTREMELY rude, and all of the other vacationers noticed this as well. Entertainment was worth the watch, and the nightclub had wonderful entertaining staff. Beach was great, always an open chair available. We found ourselves sitting in the "secrets" or "preferred" areas more often, and had no trouble doing so.
My boyfriend and I are in our mid 30s and traveled to Punta Cana and stayed at the now Garden resort in June 2016. We had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend staying at the Now Garden instead of the larger resort connected, Now Larimar. We found that Now Garden was much more quaint, quiet and relaxed. The staff is very friendly, they're cleaning every day, it is a gorgeous resort. The walk to the other hotel and beach was nothing but a 2 to 5 minute walk. There is a golf cart running back-and-forth 24 seven if walking isn't for you. The food wasn't bad, I think people expect to go and have the exact same flavors as they do in their home town but you must remember it is the Dominican republic. It was very nice that you didn't have to make reservations for any of the reservations unless you wanted to sit at the hibachi table at the Japanese restaurant. The nightly entertainment at Now Larimar was excellent. We sat through the entire show five out of seven nights. The only issue we had was our room was close to the housekeeping station and every morning they were very loud in the office. Once we spoke to management it was handled immediately. And make sure you pack enough sunblock because it cost $30 and the resort store.
We were a bit confused when we showed up. There are 3 resorts on the campus. The Now Garden, The Now Larimar, and Secrets. Secrets and Larimar are on the beach. Now Garden is about a 10 minute walk. I wasn't aware of this at all. The whole time we stayed at the Now Garden they kept trying to upsell us to the other two. It got VERY VERY annoying. I was initially told it would be $100.00 more a night, they then went down to $60.00, then $20.00. Once he said $20.00 I said ok, I'll do it, but he then said he couldn't actually do it for $20.00 and he would just charge me $60.00. It was very sketchy and I told him I immediately just wanted to go to my room (in the Now Garden). They also had locals who would stay for just the weekend, and pack 6-10 people in a room. It would get very loud at night. We didn't appreciate that. The servers were all very nice though! You were also given nice sized glasses, unlike other resorts that give small paper cups at the bar. The beach was also really nice!
First time at the Garden but 7th time in PC. Overall very impressed. Great staff. No issues at all. Joel Santana at the front desk in the Garden Lobby who checked us in (very efficiently, by the way). He constantly was checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. Joel, if you read this, thank you for everything! Service at this place is amazing. From check-in to the golf cart drivers, everyone was genuinely friendly, always smiling, asking if everything was OK and more. DISTANCE FROM GARDEN TO NOW: Don’t be concerned. It’s literally a one minute golf cart ride (you never have to wait more than two minutes for one) or a 4 minute walk. We walked it many times because it’s a pleasant walk and needed to work off a few calories every day. ROOM: We had a pool view third floor at the Garden. Our room was kept very clean by friendly staff and left plenty of fresh towels and washcloths, beers, water, soda, etc…contrary to some other not so great reviews. The air conditioning also worked great. Great room and view with a jet tub on the balcony. We spent most of the day at the beach (no problem getting palapas) and then late afternoon we made our way to the garden pool where it was quiet and a good place to wind down before hitting the Now Larimar lobby (Moments) bar before dinner. DINING: We had access to all the restaurants at both the Garden and Larimar. No reservations required except at Japanese—this is great if you’ve ever done all inclusive ad had to make all of your reservations the Saturday you arrived. On the Garden side, Windows/Capers restaurant at Garden was great. Capers our favorite and we dined there twice (osso bucco and bolognaise great). Both breakfast buffets were good and tons of choices. And Stoli bloody Mary’s and mimosa always available! The French Restaurant was also very good. The American was OK and we didn’t try the Mexican. The main dinner buffet was changed up daily and for sure something for everyone! Also at both the Now beach and the Garden pool, there are snack bars serving burgers and other things all day. Say hi to Hector at the Garden BBQ. Room service is available 24/7. DRINKS: This is always our concern at all inclusives. Most places we’ve been to you have to search for decent top shelf liquor. Typically just the main Lobby bars have some good stuff. Not here— they have good liquors like Skyy, Stoli, Stoli O, Johnny Walker, and J&B, Jim Beam, Amaretto, Bailey’s Sambuca and more! It flows freely and they don’t hide it! They even leave the bottles of Amaretto, Sambuca and Bailey’s out for you to help yourself at the coffee bar near the beach! There is also a bar right on the beach. The fruity drinks are usual but if you ask for a Mojito not too sweet, they will accommodate. The beer is Presidente (not bad at all), House wine is so so, champagne is decent too. And, you will never be thirsty on the beach or at the pool since the wait staff is constantly around asking if you’d like another drink. Again, service is incredible here. Overall, one of, if not THE best resort we have ever stayed in. Service is number one. We definitely enjoyed Now Garden and would highly recommend it and are already looking forward to returning. If you like it a little quieter but also want to enjoy the rest of the Now resort, the Garden is the place.
We arrived before our room was ready so we were advised to have lunch. Keep in mind we have been traveling for 9 hours. We had warm clothes on since we travel from the north. All I wanted to do was change my clothes and head to the pool until our room was ready. After lunch we were escorted around the resort for about an hour in 85 degree weather. By the time our room was ready, I was completely annoyed. I just wanted to get to the pool. Finally our room was ready, as we were having our bags delivered we were told to come back to the lobby for coupons. We ignore the request and were later tracked down at the pool and told to come to the lobby. They try to get you to attend a breakfast meeting regarding booking through the hotel and not the travel sites. We told them we were not interested but they continued to pressure us. The next day as we were walking through the adjacent resort, we were stopped and asked why we did not come to the breakfast meeting. This happened at least two more times during a 4 day trip. This is unacceptable. This was my vacation and I paid alot of money and do not need somebody telling me where I need to go and what I need to do. The resort was beautiful, the beach was amazing. The food was ok, there were alot of choices. However, I will not go back again.
Had to endure over three hours of sales pitch the first day and were then asked if we had participated every time we walked through lobby. Resort was nice, but we ended up at the larger Larimar.
Everyone was so friendly. Despite them not being able to speak much English they were willing to try and help. The room was clean and cold but it did smell like mildew the first night. TV channels were limited. It was about a 10 minute walk to the beach but there is a shuttle. Pool is clean and relaxing and i Loved the swim up bar. Silvio, Santiago, Ceaser were excellent with service. Celestin was very pushy trying to get you to upgrade and sign up for stuff. It made you look out for him to avoid him. But other wise it was a very nice place.
