This place is way over rated and priced. The first day we got there at 5:30pm (check in is 3pm) and was told they were finishing up some things with my room and it would be 30 minutes. I went to the guest services desk to verify my reservations that I had emailed them two weeks in advance for the restaurants and was told they did not book them and they were all full. I even showed them the email saying that they were going to book them. They didn't care. So now it had been 30 minutes. I went back to the desk and they said my room was still not ready and would be another 20 minutes. I went to the bar and got a drink and waited. I went back and they said it still wasn't ready. I lost it on them this time. I asked them to tell me the truth about what was going on. They finally admitted that someone was staying late in my room. So they were making extra money on someone staying late while making me wait around in the lobby with two small children. Finally two hours after arrival they had my keys. We were escorted to the room where the room keys didn't work. Wow. Waited on him to return got in the room and it was hot. 31 degrees c. That is over 80 degrees f. I turned on the ac and we went to dinner. Came back and it was still 31 c. I called and told them abut the ac and we had no remote. They said they would send someone. No one came. At 2 am I went to the front desk since I could not sleep while sweating and asked what was going on. They said they were having problems with the whole resort. I asked for another room but they stated that they did not have one. I asked if they were going to do anything for my first night stay being horrible and they stated no. They don't care about you. They finally fixed the ac the second night at about 9 pm. Every time I left the room and came back from this point on the ac was turned off. It was ridiculous. I guess they come in your room and turn them off. Are they trying to save money on us paying premium money? The restaurants were ok. None were even close to full. Don't no why they couldn't accommodate my two week in advance reservations. The beach was super crowded. The pool was crowded. If you did not reserve a chair by 8 am you were out of luck. I have been to many resorts over the last 20 years and this one is the only one I would not go back to. I'm not that hard to please. This place is junk. Please don't make the same mistake I did. If you have already booked it, make plans to change it. They don't care about you.
Overall good for the price. Most importantly good service. Management can do a little more on certain areas such as room comfort and cleanliness.
Stayed at Bahia Principe Fantasia in Punta Cana from 8/1/17 to 8/6/17. The locale is amazing as is the food. The service was TERRIBLE! Room checkin was delayed 2.5 hours. The AC in our room did not work properly; reported it but it was never fixed. Overall the staff was unenthusiastic....seemed bothered and bored to be there.
We have stayed at a Luxury Bahia in Samana 2 years ago that was fantastic, so when this property opened we wanted to try it out. We went with 2 families, 4 adults, two 12 year olds and two 16 year olds. The resort was full as this was a holiday week so we did not know what to expect. Check in was fast and even though we arrived at 10 am they had our rooms ready by noon which was a nice surprise as check in is at 3pm. The resort was clean with beautiful landscaping. The pool was also clean with plenty of seating and shade areas which surprised us since we have been at other resorts that did not have adequate seating or shade. The pool bar was nice but there was never enough staff and we had to wait a very long time for drinks. We tipped the bartender there daily but that did not seem to help.They ran out of clean towels at the pool by 3pm each day so we had to take our dirty towels back to the room and get clean ones in the morning. The beach area was clean and also had adequate seating and shade areas. The staff on the beach were great. They would bring drinks rather quickly, and were helpful getting us set up with 8 lounges each day. The staff were on the beach cleaning all day so there was never any garbage around, they also swept up all the extra seaweed. The room was a little smaller than we expected and the beds were not very comfortable, but the pillow service was nice. The housekeepers kept the room very clean and we always had an abundance of fresh towels each day. The room mini bar was not stocked each day as promised and we had to call multiple times to get some water and soda for the children. The room service was very timely and they could not do enough for you when they brought your food. We ate at the French and Tex Mex restaurants. We did not like the Tex Mex, the service was very slow, it took 30 minutes to get our first drink and the food was just ok. The French restaurant was the opposite, they served us right away, did not rush us and the food was excellent. The staff also came out at sang happy birthday(it was my nieces 16th birthday) with a cake which I thought was a nice touch. The staff at the buffet were also excellent, they made us feel welcome and it seemed like they enjoyed their work. Booking excursions was easy, the staff was very helpful and friendly. The teen club was over run by many small children and their parents each day, considering that they age for this club is 12 and older and there is a club for younger children, there should have been someone there to get the smaller children out. Our older children would try to go in but the smaller children allowed in there made it uncomfortable for them to just hang out. This was a great week and we would consider returning to this property in the future.
We just got back yesterday from our week at the new Bahia Principe Fantasia resort. We had a really nice week-really how can you not have a nice week at a resort in the Caribbean?!!? Pros: Beautiful New Resort!! Nothing is beat-up or run-down! No mold! Very nice people! Amazing beach and pools!! Really superb! Food at restaurants is very good! Drink are great. Spa is great. Cons: Kids Club is just ok - I would not leave my child there unattended. Staff seemed pretty casual about watching kids. The fridge was not stocked daily as promised. The room was not cleaned as promised. Our room phone never worked so no way to call for service. We ordered room service once-through the website-never arrived. They did call the next day to apologize. You cant get a $20 changed-so you run out of tip money and then feel like a jerk. You can really smell the pesticides they use-our room stunk of them the whole time even with airing it out.
Best resort of the lot when it comes to Bahia resorts in DR. Food was great, service was overall outstanding... but too many buffet restaurants... that's my only complaint.
From the picture on the website I thought this was a beachfront property however it is just a 5 min walk or you can jump on a shuttle. Traveling with little kids this was a little dissapointing. The rooms and resort were clean. The buffet food was just ok however the Ala carte food was pretty good. Service was slow when getting beverages in the dining rooms. However all the staff were always smiling and seemed interested in helping. The kids waterpark and pools were great! The beach was nice but seaweed was in the water and in the sand.
The resort was beautiful and relaxing. Everything was kept clean and the pools was awesome. The bartenders at the pool was excellent and served some great drinks. The beach had a lot of seaweed but they had someone there constantly taking it up and keeping the beach clean. I am looking forward to going back.
