Really get away from it all!

I loved Curacao in general and this little chunk of the island in particular. Very peaceful which was just what I was looking for. The shuttle into town is great if you don't want to rent a car, but it does come back before dinner which limits your dining options. The special dining at the beach grill was great but the main dining room near the pool was expensive and not very good. A couple of local places nearby (we got a ride from some other guests but you could actually walk a ways if you are adventurous) made up for it. Snorkeling was fun right at the hotel. Bring your own gear because you will want to go daily. Saw 4 sea turtles at a nearby beach in a couple of feet of water and a ray a little further out. Lots of interesting fish. I want to go back with the whole family.

Vacation of the Year

What a peaceful relaxing week of memories for a lifetime. This quaint resort nestled in the beautiful tropic vegetation that attracts so many brightly colored birds kept our eyes facinated from hour to hour as we walked the grounds. Just when we thought we had seen it all, there was more to discover....a feast for the senses.

Upgrade!

The property was beautiful and we got upgraded to beach front - overlooking the cliffs. The space and gardens are absolutely beautifull. Service was great. Biggest downside is the dining options - one night dinner there was definitely one too many!

Great Dive site

Excellent on premise PADI certified dive shop. Resort is cool but isolated. Not a lot of food options. Pool area is good, but beach is almost non-existent. if you're a diver, highly recommend - includes instructors that are excellent, well equipped shop, boat diving, and some spectacular reefs just off shore that are easily accessible. Staff was very friendly, Rooms are pretty cool.

Beautiful, but out of the way

This was a beautiful hotel, but it is on the opposite end of the island from all of the attractions. We intentionally booked it for this, but it was kind of a hassel to get into town every day for our excursions. It's perfect if you plan to hang around the hotel your whole stay and go to the beach, but we are more active vacationers. We rented a car and drove the 45 minutes to the other end of the island, but there is a shuttle if you're not pressed for time. The beach was nice, but small. The snorkeling was great right off the beach and we did beginners scuba diving with the dive center next door. We found chocolate on our pillows a few times during our stay, but we never figured out how they decided when to give it to us. We ate 2 meals at the restaurant, 1 breakfast and 1 dinner. The dinner was very expensive for the tiny amount of food they give you, but this is true for any hotel restaurant. There is a little local place at the end of the road that we ate at once, which was decent and cheaper. We only had breakfast at the hotel once because it started too late and it wasn't free. We went to the grocery store and got cereal, drinks and sunscreen because it's so much cheaper than buying from the hotel gift shop. Overall, a good hotel, but if we went again we would probably stay in the city just because it's closer to the excursions.

The Best

Lodge Kura Hulanda and Beach Club The package through Cheap Carribbean is unbeleivable. This is our 3rd time at the Beach Club. It is at the West end of the island, a private and serene location. The island beaches and snorkling some of the best in hte Carribbean. The food and people are great. Words can not Desribe our vacation.

Very pleased

BEST PART: Snorkeling and view from oceanfront room's patio "EH" PART: Beach is not for walking but there is TONS of seaglass and nearby at Play Forti The hotel is a perfect place for snorkel and dive enthusiasts. The water is absolutely stunning in terms of life, coral, and visibility (75 feet+ when we were there). The beach is filled with coral so expect no sand strolls and its a bit small but it is beautiful and peaceful. Nothing in front of you but ocean, no hotels or cruise ships or jet skis... The service was warm and the food was very good although the speed was slow even for island standards. However, I was really happy just relaxing and feeling the breeze. Pool is near perfect for adults. Quiet, sheltered from afternoon breeze and cool enough to refresh. We brought our own liquor in and saved costs. Beer prices werent bad but I went back to the room if I was thirsty for a drink. That leaves us to the room. The oceanfront studios and 1bedrooms were amazing. Beautiful, functional, perfect. Waking up in the morning and having breakfast over the ocean was exactly what I needed. Definitely will come back someday.

Good decision

Oceanview apartment was great. Next huge supermarket about 25 minutes by car. You get there all baby food and stuff you need. Meals at the restaurant - or as roomservice - always delicious. Professional and friendly diving school.

Beautiful Location Away from the Hustle and Bustle

The Lodge is a beautiful hotel located in the remote Westpunt section of the island. This was a perfect destination for being away from the city and surrounded by the unique Curacao landscape. The bungalow rooms are very comfortable; good AC, fairly good wifi in room (stopped working last 2 days, but that was okay), huuuuuge porch/balcony (if you get a garden view, see if you can get an upstairs room) with simple but adequate outdoor kitchen (great to use if you want to save some money). The beach does have a LOT of coral, but we did just fine without watershoes. Just be aware of where you're walking and you'll be okay. The pool was also great. There are a few different beaches with varied coastlines (volcanic sand beach, white sand no coral beach) within 15 mintues away if you want a change of beach scenery. I would definitely reccomend renting a car when you get there so you can explore the island. Food at the hotel is a bit pricey for the Caibbean -- about $25 per person at the restaurants -- but generally good with friendly service. For a less expensive alternative, go to the bar and ask for the "Light Fare" menu; sandwiches, burgers, quesadillas and the like are around $12 per person. Of course, you must try Sol Food just 10 minutes walk down the road, if only to meet Sunshine and receive the packet of Curacao travel advice she gives you after the meal; it was extremely helpful! Please do also try Landhuis Misje, about 10 minutes away by car. One of the nicest ambiances of any restaurant I've ever been to. Do also visit the Kura Hulanda hotel downtown. It is a beautiful hotel with a great museum. All-in-all Willemstad was a bit underwhelming and you'll only really need to be there for 4 or so hours. If you want a relaxed vacation in a friendly, small luxury hotel with fantastic rooms in a laid-back and naturally fascinating section of the island, the Lodge is for you. We absolutely loved it!
