Every year I bug my husband to death about what he wants to do for his Bday....usually nothing....well give me a pickle and call me Dilly....he said...I wanna go back to Jamaica for my birthday...May 10....so book I did. We had just returned from our first visit to Jamaica at the end of March....and we planned the exact same vacay...just 7 weeks later. Every single staff member remembered us from Front desk to housekeeping to bar/dining..to groundskeepers and security....They will all get a shout out now....Michael...Leonard...Jean...Elorine...Ann...Sammy...Pauline...Kadia.......Sandra.....Shanae...Kimeka....Shadae.....LaToy...Kenrick...Chiquita...Jennifer...Giovanni....mi familia. Everyone is so kind and helpful...we were even able to move to our original room after one night. I would never even think of booking another resort. Again the food and drink were plentiful and delish...room spotless every day...beach....what can I say...pure heaven. I am planning a girls trip in Sept and we will go back as a couple next March along with some friends. When you can't stop thinking about Jamaica/Negril/Legends each and every day...You know you have found "THE ONE" Kudos to Management/Staff and Nature...Love-Respect
I want to be very honest about my last trip to Jamacia it was my 13th visit to Jamacia .....I love the island ....the water the sunset....unfortunely my worst ..... I have done all inclusives fro ochio rios to Negril the Lengends was by far BAD I can go on and on about about had bad it was ,,,, I have always stayed on the 7 mile beach I really screwed up when I picked this place I do want to thank the only guys that made my trip Michael beach guy and Donavan they need to be made managers...they could help this dump survive
Initial welcome was scary. They had our confirmation number in the files but wanted us to produce our own copy! Eventually said I did not need it. I knew we had made a mistake when I found out that our upgraded to the 'Oceanside' (for which we paid extra) would not be an Ocean View - but instead not across the busy highway where we would otherwise have stayed. Cleaned room once out of four nights. We thought the 'free shuttle' would take us back and forth each day to the partner hotel - but very limited access and only one way! Luckily we made 'the list' on Sunday evening for dinner - otherwise we never would have had that experience. The shuttle only ran once per meal !!!!! The restaurant music ranged from good - to 'you could not hear yourself talk' - had to move at times just to think. Staff worked really hard once they knew you 'tipped' - even though we thought tipping was included. Ganga sellers we were within feet of the beach chairs 80% of the day. There was not much chance of escaping them! I am thinking the hotel workers might have gotten 'a cut' of their illegal sales!
Great hotel, wonderful staff, Michael (the security guard) was the best! Would definitely recommend and will return in the future.
If your looking for a reasonable beach getaway, this is worth looking at. I'll start by saying we normally stay at higher end places (more $ as well). On your first day here you may be questioning the place, but after a day you recognize what its about..... "chill'in out". If your expecting a 5 star Hilton, this isn't it. If you want a clean basic room (with air conditioning), clean (small) pools, excellent & friendly staff, and a great beach location.... it hits all of this. The place is definitely a little "dated", but they do a nice job taking care of you. In the evening the place has a nice appeal with the foliage & natural sounds (tree frogs, etc.). I'd have a hard time staying more than a week....the bed wasn't sagging, but wasn't the most comfortable either. Pro's: budget friendly clean hotel "right in the middle" of the best beach in Negril. Really nice staff.... I've never stayed at a place before where most of the staff knew me by first name. They make you feel really comfortable. Good food for an all inclusive, but limited choices at each meal. You won't go hungry. Also, you get grounds and pool access (and food) at their sister hotel "Samsara" on the cliffs a couple miles down the road. Totally different atmosphere.... a definite plus. Neg's: The room is really basic, but clean. Not enough AC outlets. It would be really nice to see them get new beds. You only get one set of bath towels, and if they take them to wash, you have to wait to get them back. There are NO beach/pool towels (this would be my biggest complaint), but you can buy them across the street for $10 bucks. The beach lounge chairs are a little tired. Bring "Off" bug spray.... mosquito's will eat you alive on the beach at dusk, seems to get better later at night. I think this will be the case anywhere in Negril. One recommendation for the staff?.... Rake the beach of seaweed in the morning.
