Overall the stay was great. The staff was very friendly and made you feel at home. The beach was small and most of the chairs and shade huts are not on the beach. We had to wake up early to put towels out if you wanted shade durring the day. Also the hotel allowed very pushy vendors into the hotel one day a week. I could have done without them even though we did buy something. Overall the food and drink quality was great. If you want the best beach one the island, this is not it. If you just want to sit by the pool then this is the hotel for you.
This place was a nice getaway. The pool was amazing. Beach was nice and quiet. The food was also good, especially the fresh fruit. The only thing that can be improved on were the actual hotel rooms. They were fair, but at least they were clean.
Nice beach with a good overall value for an older place.
Never been there before but will certainly go again. Went for beach and diving. What fun / mutiple dining areas. Liquor included. Fantastic staff. Don't miss the breakfast buffet and specialties made to order. The food was out of this world. So much--so many varieties. Talk about a great room/ nice, clean, comfortable AND COOL ! What a great clean island and nice people.
This was the first all-inclusive I ever went to 6 years ago. It was great. The resort was top of the line 5 star luxury. The food was good but not the best. The only issue I had was that you could not leave the resort unless you were escorted. They said that if you left you were taking your life in your own hands. Hopefully this has changed. If you want to go on a vacation or weekend and just stay at the resort this place is great. Food and drinks 24/7,and top of the line luxury. Went fishing once, didn't do so well only one small Baracuda.
We spend there 9 nighs in February 2011. Very good experience. The place is well maintained, nice beach and pools. Good night shows. As for the food, our favorite was the buffet. The selection is quite good and there is always something different every day. All-you-can-eat lobsters were especially good. Desserts are excellent. As for the specialty restaurants that require reservation, for the most part, they are not worth the trouble. We did not like the steakhouse at all. Before, I thought that steak filet is impossible to screw up. I was wrong ;-) The japanese restaurant was overall good experience. If you are sushi/sashimi aficionado, you'll be disappointed, but hibachi (japanese grill) was good. El Colonial gourmet restaurant was ok. I would grade it higher if they did not substituted the side dish to french fries for our kids (without asking) and my steak was not overcooked. We did not go to the mexican restaurant. But gripes aside, overall food experience was good. The buffer makes up for it ;-) The personnel was friendly and helpful. Don't forget about free water sports (kayaks, wind surfing and sailboats). They also have diving center on site. Very nice diving experience. Many diving sites ranging from fairly shallow (30 feet) coral reefs to ship wrecks (100+feet). If you are considering trying scuba diving, go for it! You won't be disappointed. Would love to go there again.
Nice place very clean rooms and grounds. Beach and pool were a little crowed but not too bad. Was a little hard to find chairs but if you looked long enough you could find some. Ala Carte resturants were very good. We tried the Steak House, Gourmet and Japanese. No problem getting reservations if you got the right conceigre. The evening shows were good to excellent just depending on your taste. The people that work in them are the hardest working people I have ever seen. They work all day and half the night.
We enjoyed our time in this Hotel. There are very good service, selection of food, and very friendly personal. If you love beach and ocean, it is place for you.
EXELLENT BEACH,GOOD FOOD, VANDERFULL STAFF. HOWEVER, THE HOTEL NEEDS MAINTENANCE. IN MY ROOM TOILET WAS LEAKIG. MAINTENANCE GUY CAME EVERY DAY, BUT HE NEVER FIX IT.
This was our third Iberostar trip. It won't be out last. They consistently provide a quality service and product. Great all-inclusive company. The food was solid all things considered. Breakfast: Omelet guy had a tendency to overcook my eggs. This perhaps a result of the language barrier. Lunch: Salads rarely provided anything other then iceberg or cabbage as your base leaf. No wild greens, every now and then you saw spinach. Not sure why. I didn't experience this on other Iberostar trips. Dinner: Was consistent and had lots of variety. Pool: Great! Good size. Beach: Beautiful but very steep near water. Water was warmer then the pool. Entertainment: Weak, but wasn't important to me. Activities: Consistent Fitness Center: Very disappointed. However, a new fitness center is slated to go in within the upcoming year. Grounds: Beautiful as usual Service: Great as usual
