Having been to Bahia Principe Tulum shortly after it was opened, we thought "it doesn,t get any better than this". BUT IT HAS!!!!!
We loved our stay at the Coba , every thing was very clean, food was excellent, beach was excellent, the hotel and grounds were kept up. I would make a return trip backl
Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the Gran Bahia Principe Coba. We (family of 5 - 2 adults, kids 18, 16, 13) stayed in the coba section, Dec. 15 - 22, 2009. Our youngest child has special needs and reauires a wheel chair plus we needed two connecting rooms since our oldest was 18 and we have 5 in the family. I had contacted the resort 1 week before our trip, to make sure that we would be able to get two ground floor (for wheel chair accessability) connecting rooms. Juan had helped us get all of this arranged and everything was perfect when we arrived! We ended up getting bumped up to the Golden section, Villa 1a. It was perfect for us. Just steps to Coba pool , 24 hr. snack bar, Dacquri bar and small souvineer shops. Also, steps to shuttle trams that took us to the beach, or where ever else in the resort that we wanted. A two or three min. walk to several ala cartes and about a 5 min. walk to the Coba Buffet. The food, pools, beach and service were all very good! We'd definitely consider another trip to GBP in the future!!!
We stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe Coba for 14 days in November, 2009. The rooms were clean and spacious. The resort was huge providing a good work out every day. Transportation between the sister resorts was always available. The beach was shallow and safe for young children. Docks on both sides of the beach provided snorkeling opportunities, but you could see a variety of fish wading in the ocean. Guests had access to all the restaurants, lounges and lobbies of the sister resorts, offering a variety of entertainment and food venues. We will definitely return.
This trip exceeded my expectations. The staff was friendly and helpful from check-in to departure. Any request you had for them was met with a willingness to make it happen. The room was very nice and clean. The property was well maintained and appealing. Plenty to do if you wanted, but ample opportunity just to kick back and relax. The food was good and plentiful, although rarely exceptional.
All of the trip plans and accomodations were great. A couple of things to know: 1) Some of the rooms are a decent walk away from the pool and main lobby and the staff wasn't great at directing us. It took us a day or so to get a lay of the land. 2) I did not like that we could only have dinner reservations for only 2 of the nights. We rarely left the resort since it was so nice. Overall, a great trip!
The food options were great, the amenities were all you could expect and the shuttle service made our stay at this mega-resort very convenient. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. My only complaint was that the gym was way too small. Otherwise I had no real complaints.
This resort is an excellent value. Up-to-date decor, food is above average, and service is excellent. You can rest easy selecting this resort; while it is not exceptional, it is very close. For the money, it can't be beat and the location is a short drive to downtown Puerto Vallarta. Rhythm of the Nights excursion is highly recommended. Lastly, the guest rooms are fantastic: balcony, in-room mini bar (no charge), small living area.
My husband and I took our first adventure to Mexico this July and it couldn't have gone better. The Grand Bahia Principe Coba was beautiful and so convenient to everything we wanted to do (Tulum, Xel-ha, zip-lining, cenotes). The beach, pools and rooms were so nice. The buffet food was good,, though the one meal in a rest. we had was only so/so. I would certainly give them a second chance to impress me in this area and plan on a return trip in November.
Just got back from a week vacation at the GBPC. We enjoyed most of our stay for the week. This resort is far away from the beach, but you can take a short ride by transport and save your money by staying here rather than closer to the beach, I don't think the other resorts are any better. The rooms are nice, but the beds are very hard, ask for a bed topper. We also saw 5 bugs in our bathroom which I reported, but nothing was done about it, what can you say its Mexico. We really enjoyed the service and enengy of the workers, expecially the entertainment staff, they are alot of fun. Food was mostly good at the buffets, especially the fresh fruit, vegetables, fish and the Mexican Selections, the guacamole which we ate at least twice a day was great. The restaurants were dissappointing, my daughter ordered fillet at the French restaurant which was uneatable, but my salmon was delicious. The evening entertainment was not our cup of tea, but many people like it. I won't pay extra to go to the Mexican Fiesta. I would recommend this resort.
