Overall, everything was wonderful at this resort. You have the option to use all the amenities of all the other Grand Bahia Principe adjoining properties, only if you stay at the Don Pablo resort. This is great for people who want to vacation with kids or as adult only because the adults can go over to the family side at all times. Beautiful beach, large selection of wonderful resturants and great entertainment each night..

It was a great vacation. Room was very good, spacious and clean, Food was great.

we are from windsor ontario and flew out of detroit to atlanta november 15 to 24th 2009. this was our fourth trip to punta cana we have also stayed at the riu palace macao, grand palladium bavaro,and iberostar bavaro. I have asked my wife of the 4 resorts we have been to which one would she consider returning to and she said hands down without hesitason the ambar! she really enjoyed the speciality restaurants,the pillow menu, the beach! and the rooms were very well laid out! it is part of a HUGE RESORT but from the ambar there is not a lot of walking to get to the beach. if you decide to take in a show at the bavaro side of the complex there are constant shuttle mini buses going back and forth all the time. we have also been to jamaica,st lucia and varedero cuba! the other resorts in punta cana were also satisfying and worth the money spent but the AMBAR showed really well in all aspects, room cleanlines,pool, and the restaurants! WE WOULD HAVE NO TROUBLE RECOMMENDING THIS RESORT! ALSO THIS IS ADULTS ONLY NOOOO KIDDDS!

My boyfriend and I visited the Gran Bahia Don Ambar in August 2009. We were there for 5 days and loved every minute of it. The grounds were beautiful and so was the room. We had our own personal butler she was great she made sure we had everything we needed and on our last day there prepared the jacuzzi with bubbles and candles for us....what a surprise for us! The beach was amazing and so was the pool. The food at all the restaurants was great. Absolutely no complaints. I would recommend this resort to anyone.

Hotel was a very relaxing time. Pool was cozy with people camping out early in the am, the remove all towels at 8am. Be there at 8am and you have your choice of spots. Food was average at buffets, take advantage of the restaurants. Service was great. Booze was one brand, beer is warm. Overall would go back again

May 27th, 2010 we left for our honeymoon to Punta Cana. We booked our honeymoon a bit late, maybe 30 days out since we were looking for a bargain. I logged on to CheapCaribbean.com and voila! found what we were looking for. The Gran Bahia Principe Ambar Don Pablo Collection is an Adult only Oasis. We had the time of our lives. Aldo the manager was amazing and made our trip just perfect. The service was impecable, the food was gourmet and of course the atmosphere was right out of a story book. When planning the trip, it could not have been more simple from the online user firendly interface to the live customer service over the phone...it's was all at our fingertips. My husband and I have recommended CheapCaribbean.com to everyone we know....even those we don't!

I had a wonderful experience at this resort. The pool and beaches were spectacular and the dining options were varied and for the most part, very good. They do need to improve their Italian restaurant, but besides that, I have no complaints. Great choice!

This resort has a long way to go when it comes to customer satisfaction and customer relations. When we arrived we were given a room with a view of a hedge and then moved to a room in a building that was under renovation and without air conditioning. We were finally given their version of the honeymoon suite which would have led to a divorce if it had been our first night together. The dining experience was an abomination. Instead of rolls on the table a waitress offered to give you one and only one with one pat of butter. Dinners were at best mediocre. All aspects of the resort seemed to be intended to attract a European clientele and the language barrier with the maids and waitresses was significant. Would definitely not recommend this as a destination

This was my first trip outside of the United States and I was VERY excited! When we recieved our itinerary from CheapCarribean everything looked wonderful, but pay close attention once you start actually traveling. We had flight times change left and right once we were inside the airports, we ended up with a 6 hour layover on the way to the Dominican Republic! The airport in Punta Cana can be overwhelming and I am glad that my husband had traveled internationally before a few times because if it wasn't for him I think I would still be there trying to get passed all the noise and confusing things people are shouting at us as we were hearded through there. Our driver/escort from the airport to our resort was very friendly and curtious. The ride to our resort was 1 hour long and in the pitch black of night, it can be very nerve racking (I felt sorry for the family riding with us, they were very nervous about it). Once we got to our resort it was breathtaking! It was everything the website said it was and so much more! I was suprized how much staff was available at our very late check in time but they were all very happy and helpful! I again was pleased when we were shown to our room and there was a banner hanging on our door the said "HONEYMOONERS" it made my husband and I laugh and in the morning we saw other rooms around us with the same banner or ones that said "ANNIVERSARY". The pool throughout the resort was wonderful and comfortably warm, plenty of shaded seating all the way around. The swim up bars were staff accordingly and we never had to wait more than a minute or two for a drink. We spent one afternoon on the beach next to the ocean in our own little beach bed thingy, let me tell you the veiws were breathtaking from everywhere we went on the island. Every night they had outstanding entertainment and all the DIFFERENT restuarants to choose from kept us "food snobs" very happy the whole time we were there! All in all I would say this was a pleasant vacation and look forward to traveling with CheapCarribean again in the future!

This hotel resort is beautiful! The beach was clean and clear, the pools were well kept and the atmosphere was always fun! The adult only (Ambar) section was a great escape. The Jr. Suite was beautiful, but we did have a few maintenance issues that were attended to in time. Room service, not so good, and the food was definitely not the greatest. Some of the staff were less than friendly.. But overall a great resort and a great vacation.
