My daughters and I visit Bermuda each year in July or August. We enjoy the relaxing environment and love the cleanliness and beauty of the island and the friendly and helpful staff. They are there to help and the do so with a smile.. My family and I love Bermuda!!!
We have wanted to visit Bermuda for a long time, and the price/accommodations offered by Cheap Carribean were too good to pass up. The Fairmont Southampton was beautiful, and the service was excellent. Dining options were good, everything very expensive. We eventually went to the market and brought back snacks and drinks to keep in our room. The beach was very nice, and a shuttle is always available between beach and hotel. It is a nice walk, but very hilly for those who have limitations. The pool is a part of the spa, and we didn't use it. We took the 20 minute ferry ride over to sister hotel in Hamilton where there is much more night life. Planned on playing golf but opted to rent modpeds instead to check out the island. It was a beautiful place, very restful vacation.
Everyday, the Faimont issued a daily activity schedule which included some sort of excersize program in the morning (with complementary bottled water), afternoon tea and crumpets. Some evenings they offered wine tasting or a movie. There were so many complementary daily activities, all the guest could find something they enjoyed! To top off the vacation, the Fairmont held a New Years Eve party and a New Years Day celebration party which included elaborate costumes that displayed their native culture.. The Fairmont ferry boat was another convienent bonus. I can't say enough to express how wonderful it was to stay at the Fairmont.
Our first trip to Bermuda and our honeymoon, this trip was one of my best vacations. I've been to hotels and places the world over and this ranks as a 4.5 star property in a CLASSY caribbean location. The winter getaway began well from the moment our driver was waiting for us on arrival to take us to the Fairmont. We lunched at the Jasmine restaurant while waiting for our room to be ready, and the service was old world, European, white cloth napkin and attentive but never overdone. Ah, from that lunch onward at the Fairmont Southampton resort I felt in the palm of luxury and could relax the whole 5 days. The hotel beach is absolutely beautiful and pristine. We can't wait to return to try the 3-par golf and the snorkeling when it warms up..
We had the greatest time exploring the island and getting to know the history and people of this beautiful island. You never feel scared like you do on some islands. The people are friendly and so glad to see you. The hotel was one of the best on the island. It was not so convenient to have to take a shuttle to the beach, but one runs every 15 minutes so it wasn't bad. We will definitely be going back! We would NOT recommend the beach restaraunt associated with the hotel. It was over priced, the food was mediocre at best, it was not very clean for the caliber it was promoted as, the service was terrible and their specialty drink - the aquatini- was just nasty. The crab that snuck in the foyer was great entertainment!
Went to Bermuda the first week of June, 2011. Temperature ranged from 72 to 79 degrees F with little humidity and always a breeze. Picked Fairmont Southampton because they had a golf course on the property. However, their web site failed to mention that there is no practice range. Hard for me to get in the "groove" without a hitting some range balls. Rented clubs. The picture is the grip on the putter. Course didn't care about the condition of the grip. Had we known that there was no range we would have stayed somewhere else. The hotel added 17% tip to all food and beverage tabs. Super-slow service is probably why they added the tip to the bills. We complained about the service but it didn't seem to matter to anyone. Bermuda was great. Other than the resort the trip was fantastic. The people were very friendly and the food (away from the resort) was great. The service off the property was signifiantly better than at the Fairmont. The private beach was clean, not too crowded and had good beverage service. I sent an email to the Fairmont manager after we returned expressing our disappointment and he didn't seem to care. We are planning on going back sometime, but not to the Fairmont.
This was the first time we have been to Bermuda but have been all over the Caribbean. I didn't realize how short of a flight it was from Boston. The hotel sits high up on a hill with great views. We had an ocean view room but I'm sure the views from most rooms are also nice as it seems you can see water in any direction. The hotel offered all you would need. A few stores, beach, par 3 course, restaurants (the Waterlot had great wine and steaks), spa and relaxing activities on site. If you haven't been to Bermuda the water is a beautiful. The main pool at the hotel was small but I would definitely recommend the beach. The hotel also offer a free water shuttle to its sister hotel in downtown Hamilton which also had plenty of stores and restaurants. A definite go to place!!
This is my second stay at the Fairmont Southampton, and I would definately stay there again. Everything is more expensive in Bermuda, however, and I feel the Fairmont could be more generous with what they offer for the price. For example, they have a wonderful breakfast buffet in the morning at their Windows restaurant. Breakfast for two cost us $68.00. We stayed there for a week. One voucher for free breakfast over a week long stay would have been nice. Aside from that, the rooms are very clean, the location on the island is fantastic, the hotel beach is very nice, scooters can be rented practically on site, other forms of transportation are easily accessible and the concierge staff is knowledgable and accommodating. There's really nothing negative I can say, other than given the amount of money you spend to stay here, a few more perks would be nice.
Over all a great vacation, nice rest.Beautiful Island. Although a little pricey. With Hurracane Katia passing by, beaches were closed to swimming. Pools open and very nice.
Overall, I did think the Fairmont Southampton in Bermuda was a very nice resort. However, I do think it was a bit overpriced for the amenities it offered. We travel to a different "tropical" location each year for our anniversary and have certainly stayed at resorts that are much nicer for a lesser price. Food was "ok", but again very overpriced. However, the staff were very nice and helpful. In our travels throughout Bermuda, the Fairmont Southampton did appear to be one of the nicer resorts on the island.
