Paradise - trees on the beach, not crowded

This resort seems to be under the radar - even the taxi driver had to ask directions from several in Juan Dolio. It is a hidden gem - modern, mid sized, a busy bee hive of staff constantly working on maintaining and improving the facility and attending to guests. The beach is beautiful, with palm and other trees right in the sand for shade if you like, lots of chaise lounges and drink service on the beach. We never saw more than a hundred people anywhere at once. Three buffet meals daily with wine poured at lunch and dinner. Two bars - beach bar open all night, and pool bar til 11. All drinks are included except imported beers and wine by the bottle at the wine and cheese bar. Even a fridge in our room with a couple of beers and soft drinks replenished daily - included. A coffee shop with indoor and outdoor poolside seating offers all made to order barrista drinks - hot or cold, even correto with whiskey, Sambuca or Irish cream - with a case ful of pastries and cookies - all included! We ate at both the Dominican and Italian restaurants by reservation, reminiscent of a cruise dining experience with options to order for each course - included. There is a daily program of activities starting with a bike tour at 9 am, sports and games - archery, tennis, batting cages, etc. til evening kiddie dance along, Michael Jackson Show (surprisingly impressive!) and disco. We enjoyed morning Spanish lessons on the beach and aqua gym. No lazy river for the children, but a small playground. Great for people who just want to eat, drink, and relax as well as those into active sports and games.

Relaxing family vacation

This was our first trip away with our three toddlers and Emotions was a perfect option for our family. Beach front, relaxing, easy access to everything and very secure with 24 hour security. It was not overwhelming in size like some other all inclusives but was still large enough to not feel crowded even on busy weekend days. The service was top notch, everyone went out of their way to help us with the kids and lend an extra hand when needed. The staff was always smiling and friendly and really made everyone feel welcome and special. The beach is lovely, we've stayed in the area many times and it doesn't disappoint. There was also an all adult section of the resort which allowed us not to feel like we were bothering those not traveling with children. Decent food options. The Domincan restaurant was our favorite. Little boutique restaurants and shopping options and a nice new spa which offered great services. We left feeling like we had the break we needed and would love to go back soon!!

Go for it...

Everyone was amazing. However, we were there as the Hurricane was approaching. Don't go during October when there are hurricanes forming. It made the beach water not so pretty nor clear blue. This is not the hotels fault though. The staff was amazing! Food buffet was pretty decent. The outdoor bar only offered pizza and burgers though. There are dogs roaming the private beach and they are very friendly and I felt bad for them. If dogs bother you, just be aware they are there. Additionally, there are some people selling massages, jewelry, etc. on the beach, but they are very nice and trusting! I did not mind them...others may. We purchased items without having cash on us and they all told us it was okay, we could pay them later. That was nice of them to trust so much. The pools are beautiful and the rooms are beautiful and spacious as well! They did have a disco club and entertainment on the outdoor stage every night also! I would def love to go back during another season!

Not relaxing

First off, if you dont like people bothering you this isnt the place for you. The beach is filled with people trying to sell you things to the point you stay at the pool. And they constantly come back to hound you, ive had the same guy come to me everyday and tells me to make sure i dont forget its to make hom money. This beach was very much polluted and there are rocks every where. There are stray animals every where poor things. Ive never wanted to book an early flight back home until this trip. The room is ok im still here so its not the greatest a.c is broken and fuses have blown. Food, not that bad but still cant wait to get home and eat. I will not return to this hotel.

Never never never again......

This resort was the worst I've ever been to in my life. I've traveled a lot and I just went to Jamacia with Cheap Caribbean and had a ball. The hospitality from some people was good most wasn't to helpful. The hot water took 20 mins to come on and the refrigerator wasn't working. We stayed in the 21 and older area and paid extra and it said a cava drink to the room we never got that. They didn't have swim up rooms and they lied on there websites. The safe wasn't working we got a new one. Then Ms. Bonilla moved us on Tues morning and said the VIP area didn't have No hot water. And all of this was happening since my birthday Aug 20. The toilet in the 21 and older wasn't clean then Ms. Bonilla was asking if we did that. Which I felt wasn't right. Why would we lie and just got there. The toilet didn't flush fast enough it flush slow. The VIP room the water came out of the shower on to the floor the lift wasn't high enough. Then the new room had stains on the comforters. They gave everyone this letter days before I even got to the VIP and on Wed was the day the hot water came on. A day before we left.

Never never never again...... Never never never again......

Good Value, Will stay there again

Good value. Clean, newly renovated look resort. Service excellent. Friendly staff. Small compared to most resorts. We enjoyed that it was smaller. It had all we needed without getting lost. Stayed in adults only section (Superior) with separate pool/Jacuzzi. Rooms nice. Has a disco. Beach small/cozy. Sand was whitish. Water was calm, almost like a natural swimming pool due to reefs offshore. Easy to get a beach chair. Two buffets, same food, good food, fresh. Three restaurants in addition to the buffets. One of the three would have to pay extra: lobster and steak on the beach. Most guests were European. A mix of ages. The beach bar served good, fresh food at later hours. Pablo at the beach bar was super funny and exceedingly friendly. Wilson in the buffets was an attentive waiter. Santo, security at the beach, was professional and helpful. Ezequiel, the bellman, was friendly and helpful. Only negative was a common one at resorts: it's awkward to make a reservation at a restaurant. We checked in about 2:30PM for a two-night stay. The desk clerk told us we could make a restaurant reservation at the services desk between 9:00AM to noon the next morning. The next morning when we attempted to reserve the lady told us it would be for the next night but we were checking out the next day. Resorts should provide a way to make a restaurant reservation/hold a reservation with a credit card in advance. Pay a cancel fee if necessary. I would stay at Emotions again.

Mostly everything you need to know

Lets start with when you get there. When you arrive at the resort you receive a drink that is called Emotions which was a refresher from the hot weather. If you end up liking the drink you can order it at the bar located at both the beach and pool area. The people at the front desk gave excellent customer service. I especially enjoyed talking to JOSE who gave me and my boyfriend a free room upgrade since there were rooms available to give out. All of the workers I talked to know English but I know the Spanish language and didn't have any inconveniences. If you like to drink refer to the bartender called PABLO he is usually situated by the bar near the beach. He knows MANY drinks and makes them very well. He left me very impressed. I noticed that the reviews say that the food is repetitive and I will let you know that it is not. There are a variety of food for the three courses of the day. I was surprised everyday that I was there which was SIX days. I ate something different everyday. What I will say that is true about the reviews are the dogs BUT see just like there are cats every where in NY there will be animals in DR too just that there are dogs instead. The dogs are by the beach and there are usually one or two but you don't have to worry about them the waiters shoo them away. To let you know in advance there are people who will try to sell you their items by the beach and all you have to do is give them a firm no if you don't want anything and they will go away although some of them are pushy. Also, there is a travel company in the resort who will push their services on you. While I was there someone had complained and they stopped being very insistent. They rooms are kept incredibly clean. The room I was in had a good A/C and a flat screen TV. There is housekeeping every single morning. The resort has everyday activities that is provided to you as a schedule in paper when you arrive. They also have games such as billiard, ping pong, hockey table, archery, rock climbing, and more. They also have a night club in the resort that is open till early morning. I will definitely be coming back to this place.

This is the view of the big pool which is deeper thant the adult pool. Beach

maybe better with time

Resort is beautiful, pool and beach are beautiful, but a lot of details were really lacking. I would have to say the spa was my biggest disappointment, no hot tub, sauna or steam room and massage itself was mediocre at best. I had a "spa pedicure" that was in a home pedicure kit and the water wasn't even warm. The buffet was great, but only two other dining options, and the Italian restaurant was a joke, we didn't even try the Dominican restaurant after the horrible experience at the Italian restaurant. Most of the staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially Luis and everyone at the tiki bar, they always made sure we had a drink in our hand! The snorkel/scuba team, Ismael and Raul were amazing!! They took us on a nice off of the resort snorkel trip! My hope is that this resort is going to get better with time, it is very new and still under construction. Staff was wonderful and always looking to please, but some of the amenities just not up to par.

Good for a budget

The rooms were super nice and very clean. Food was ok, only 2 restaurants were included (Italian and Dominican). Could eat at seafood restaurant for an additional charge ($35). Staff was super friendly!! Buffet was open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Overall, not a bad experience! Great for the price.
