Wonderful and relaxing!

My husband and I went for a 3 night getaway, and it was lovely. It was very calm and relaxing. The service was top notch, and our food was tasty. I would not recommend this place if you're looking for an exciting nightlife, but if you want luxury relaxation, this is it.

Well maintained and plenty of privacy

El Dorado Royale Casitas are perfect for a relaxing getaway. The casita pods each have their own pools, which was fabulous! It never felt crowded, and there was space for everyone. The adjoining beach with its cabanas and lounge chairs was lovely. We went to the nightly entertainment each night at El Dorado Royale, and it was well worth it! Their shows were great!!!

Not Worth the Money

Staying at the El Dorado Royale Casitas in Riviera Maya Mexico was the worse experience I have ever had staying in Mexico. While I admit the property is very pretty, the level of service just was not there. First of all this place is huge, at least over a mile long with lot's of restaurants and pool bars but it lacked the staff to accommodate the thousands of vacationers that stay there. This was especially noticeable in the restaurants on site which take forever to serve you. Secondly they run a shuttle service (really just gulf carts) to carry you around the property wherever you want to go, but try catching one in the hot humid weather, good luck. They either don't run often, or are too full to pick you up or just don't stop if they don't run you over first. Again lack of staff. But the worse thing was that after checking out and checking my bag with the bellmen to be put in their storage room, they actually lost it! They lost my bag! They give you a claim check when you check your bag so you can claim it with the tag they attached to the bag that has your room number and last name on it. Somehow they gave my bag to someone else, or put it on one of the shuttles to the airport and it is officially missing. And when I tried to get answers and help from them, they were not helpful or accommodating at all. And when I asked to speak to a manager to file a report, they quickly said I would have to do that with my travel agent or the transportation transfer company I used. Worse service ever. Oh and if you want to by snacks at the stores onsite, don't bother. A large bag of potato chips & a chocolate candy bar cost $17!!! No really. Even in NY you don't pay that much. Outrageous prices for subpar service. Don't bother, save your money and go to another resort.
