Was impressed by the service from start to finish, can't wait to go back!
We began our journey, pulling up to the lovely gatehouse at "Dreams" resort. The words "welcome home" were uttered from everyone's lips, accompanied by warm, genuine smiles. The personal, unique touches of our hotel experience began immediately as we were offered warm, fragrantly infused towels to cleanse ourselves from our plane trip and cab ride. We were early for the hotel check in and were offered a delicious glass of champagne to celebrate our arrival. Personal attendants took our luggage aside to hold and pointed us in the direction of the beach and accomodations, encouraging us to wander and explore. The beaches, pools, restaurants, spa and shops looked enticing! We couldn't wait to settle in to our "home away from home."
I've been on several vacations abroad, and I would rank my stay at Dreams in Puerto Vallarta as the best I've had yet. It was an incredible value for the cost. The staff was extremely happy to see us, very accommodating and very efficient. There was definitely a focus by all to ensure that our stay was relaxing, memorable and romantic. This resort is in an ideal location. It has a private beach that is groomed each morning by a team of workers. The food was very good at the restaurants, and fairly good at the buffet. Upgrade to the preferred tower, it's well worth the money. The rooms are beautiful and very, very comfortable. The Spa was very nice and the layout of the resort is not overwhelming. It was family friendly and there's an adult only pool as well. My fiancee and I will certainly be going back to this resort and we can hardly wait. This was my second vacation through Cheapcaribbean and both were great!
We have stayed at three 5 star all-inclusive resorts. This is a very nice resort, with fantastic service. The accommodations are OK....not bad, but have seen better. The food, however, was incredible. It's coming up on a year since we stayed at the Dreams Puerto Vallarta, and we still remember thinking we were dining at 5 star restaurants every night. The food alone (not counting lodging, drinks, and activities) is worth the value of what we paid.
We stayed at Dreams Tulum from 6/21 through 6/29, for our son’s wedding with a group of 18. We have stayed at all inclusives all over the Caribbean and Mexico and I would say that this resort earns a solid 4 stars. We booked our vacation through Cheap Carribbean.com and flew from Phoenix to Cancun on US Airways. Our transfers were through Olympus Tours. Check-in: When we arrived, we were greeted with moist hand towels and champagne. Check-in was quick and easy, and we didn’t experience any of the unpleasantness that others have reported. We had reserved a Deluxe Ocean View Room and requested a King Bed. We were offered a room on the first floor with two double beds. When I asked for a King, I was told that no King was available that evening, however, one was available the next day on the third floor. After discussing, we decided to keep the first floor room. We were not offered the $200 Resort Credits and didn’t ask, as we felt that they were pretty much worthless last year in Dreams Puerto Vallarta, nor did they offer an upgrade. They did not ask for any credit card, which was surprising. Rooms: We stayed in 5102. Our Ocean View Room was very nice, with a flat screen TV, DVD Player, Clock with IPOD Hookup, coffee maker, and Mini-bar. It was very clean, had good water pressure and lots of hot water. The air conditioning worked well and the ceiling fan was great. We loved our little patio and spent a lot of time on it. Maid Service was good and most days our room was cleaned before lunch. The mini-bar was stocked correctly each day and coffee was replaced every day. We received turn down service each night, as promised. This was much better than our stay last year at Dreams PV. There were four Iguanas and lots of crabs outside our building, which was really fun. We were right next to the Mexican Restaurant, which we were a little leery of, because of noise, but it was quiet by 10 pm each night and we had no issues. Beach and Pools: Unfortunately, while we were at the resort, Tropical Storm Alex was also a visitor, so we didn’t get a whole lot of beach time. But the beach was well cared for, with lots of chairs and palapas. We never had any issue getting a chair and palapa. As others have said, the beach is rocky and lots of coral, however, we did take the fifteen minute walk that was suggested by others, and it was beautiful. We were not able to snorkel as the storm had made the water very dangerous, so that was a disappointment, but certainly not the hotel’s fault. We are not really pool people, but the pools were very nice. There were lots of kids, as others have said, but we didn’t observe any diapers or wildness. I guess we were lucky, as the parents seemed to be supervising their children quite well. Spa: We did not use the spa services, however, one in our group had a massage, that was fine, and they did a great job with the bride's hair and makeup. Bars: The service all all the bars was very good. We never had to wait very long for drinks, tipping, or not. The bartenders were friendly and went out of their way to have the brands we like, even going so far as to go to another bar to get them for us. Restaurants: We ate at all the restaurants. They were all fine; however, I did not find the food to be as good as Dreams PV. The steaks were usually overcooked, thin, and sometimes tough. We are used to this in the Maya Riviera, though; it seems to be standard in that part of Mexico. I felt that all the food was cooked in one central location, as it seemed pretty much the same, everywhere. For example, each restaurant had pork loin; it just seemed to have a different sauce, depending upon the type of restaurant. We did enjoy the Seaside Grill, the Mexican Restaurant, and Portofino’s. We did not order room service, so I cannot speak to it; however, several in our party used it and liked it a lot. For the most part, we did not have to wait more than five or ten minutes to be seated, except at Bordeaux, which was over an hour. The service was good at all restaurants and I especially enjoyed the Spanish Lessons that we received every morning in the World Café. The Coco Café was very nice, and besides pastries, had sandwiches that were good. Activities: Lots of activities going on for those that wish to partake. We did do some of them and had a good time. We attended some of the shows in the evening and they were pretty much like other resorts. One exception was the fire show, which was really fantastic. Wedding: The wedding was lovely. Because of the wind, it was held in the Chapel, with the reception in the Mexican Restaurant, which was closed for the evening. Elam, our waiter, was great and really knew how to get and keep the party going, as well as getting drinks and food quickly and accurately. He was also our waiter for the Rehearsal Dinner in the World Café. I cannot say enough good things about him. We had a great time and I would definitely recommend their wedding package for those considering a wedding in the Maya Riviera. We checked out on 6/29, with no issues.
I would have liked to see a few more "hot spots" at night, as it pretty much died down after 7 pm, but this was the most beautiful resort. Service was excellent, and the rooms were great.
I loved my vacation at Dreams. The photos and descriptions of the resort were exactly what we experienced. The secluded beach, with the mountains cutting off the outside world, was a huge plus (something that most resorts don't have). What really stood out for us was the food. I have been to all-inclusives where the food is sub-par, however, Dreams goes far beyond what anyone could expect. I live in New York City where I can have great meals and dining experiences all the time. And I have to admit, the chefs at Dreams could compete with any of the big dogs here. Overall, a beautiful experience and I can't wait to go back to Dreams.
We went to Dreams PV last November for Thanksgiving week. The staff is amazing and so very polite. They go out of their way to serve you. The pools are great and the beach is secluded so it is not crowded. We took our two children (7 and 9) and they loved going to the Kids Club and there was alot of activities that our family could enjoy together. The food was great and many choices. Services was alittle slow (we think it was cultural not poor service). Let the kids take something to do for the wait. My only complaint is the beds were hard but we were usually so tired, nothing mattered. The sea turtle event was beyond words. We can't wait to go back!!
Good clean and nice place to visit. Though this was a solo experience, I get very much why couples dominate the enviornment, romantic with lots of recreational choices and places to connect with the significant other. I especially liked the "enclave" feeling of the private beach area flanked by two cliffs North and South, lending to an incredible sunset vista each evening.. I felt this also, lended an atomosphere of exclusivity, without the inflated prices and kept wandering vendors, annoying transient behavior that can dominate the Mexican experience in many other places. It was very nice, and comfortable, and in places, luxiourious.... Food was exceptionally good at a couple of the places but average at best at the others..My only suggestion would be an acivity director that would perhaps, add a day of the week catering to a solo/single traveler, thereby leaving no guest feeling as an "outsider".. A simple mixer, or dedicated event, would certainly break the ice and "pull" this traveler into the mix... That being said, however, the sea turtle experience, though seemingly a sideline at first, was enough reason in itself to return to this friendly place.. but, if you do, solo or a group even is not the best, but rather someone you care to be with 24/7...
