We had a wonderful time at this resourt! My boyfriend and I got engaged on this trip to Costa Rica. This was an unforgetable trip and we loved every minute of it. The hotel was okay. It bothered us that there was trash on the beach. Costa Rica is much dirtier than we thought it could be.

Great pools and outstanding food, even at the buffet. Room was comfortable and clean.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Doubletree Puntarenas. Our room was good for the price, although we would have preferred a king bed. The pools were beautiful and well-maintained, and the facilities overall were very clean. On the weekends, the hotel did get a little overrun with locals. The weekdays were much quieter and less crowded. The two sit-down restaurants had decent food, but portions were relatively small. We could almost always find something at the buffet, and on the few occasions that we couldn't, the snack bar has great pizza and burgers. Service at the pool bars was excellent. Always someone there with a smile ready to make you a drink. The main bar was also good. The only downfall is that there isn't much to do nearby the resort, but the tour company across the street was very helpful and reasonably priced. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

The resort was beautiful. The only disappointment was the beaches aren't the same as the teal carribean water with white sand. They weren't as beautiful but the resort was great. Our room was upgraded. The restaurant food wasn't fantastic but the buffets were great. There was a lot to do, or you could just relax. Overall I would recommend this resort.

The Double Tree was a beautiful resort and a great value. We traveled after renting a car at the airport and it was easy to get around. Also had a nice travel agency to help set up day trips located right in the resort.

The rooms were outstanding. The food in the Sea Food restraunt was nasty and the mosquitoes ate us up while we ate because it was all open. The food in the main dining hall was the same for every meal ( breakfast,lunch, dinner) and the breakfast and lunch was atrocious!! Dinner was just o.k..The pools were beautiful and warm and the service was excellent everywhere except for one really nasty,mean lady at the front desk that was mean and rude to us everytime we wanted to cash our travelers checks. Which reminds me, don't bring travelers checks! We called ahead of time to see if we should bring them and were told that it was no problem. When we got there, no one excepted them anywhere -both on or off of the resort. AND they only cash $100 a day-unless you get the mean lady. Everyone cashed ours except her!!! She kept giving us alot of trouble over it and telling us there was no money in their safe. The beach was dirty and unsafe. They have a sign posted that says use the beach at your own risk. The water was very rough and murky as well. We asked one of the clerks if it was always like that and he said yes. The pics of the beach that they show on the websight are touched up. The water is no where near that color!

We really enjoyed our stay in Puntarenas at the Double Tree Resort. All the arrangements were made using Cheap Caribbean .Com and everything was just as expected, and stress free. Great food, friendly staff, beautiful resort. The only surprise was the black sand beach was definately different then any beach i've ever been on.

The Good: We had a very enjoyable, relaxing week at this property. The food was very good, especially at the 2 specialty restaurants. The room was very nice, the bed was great. The pools and grounds are lovely. The Not So Good: The beach is dirty; lots of plastic bottles and other debris. And, because the sand is so dark, and stirred up by the rain, at times it looked like chocolate milk waves crashing onto the shore. Not frolic-friendly. The Bad: Our camera was stolen from our room by the housekeeper on our last day. We reported it to Jonathan at the front desk, but he didn't write any of our information down or investigate in any way. That's the heartbreaking ending. Our memories were stolen and no one at the Doubletree cared. As a Hilton Hhonors member, I expected more.

This was a fabulous vacation at a reasonable price. The hotel was just as promised, although the beaches were closed at the time (freak natural event) the food was great, the resort was wonderful and the service pretty good too.

The resort is great and the food options are very good. It is not the Ritz Carlton but the all inclusive feature makes it so that you never even have to leave the resort.
