Divi Southwinds passable

My husband and I loved the Divi Hotels in Aruba, so this year we decided to try the Divi in Barbados. Will not go again. The hotel, although kept clean, is in dire need of updating. Our toilet didn't flush properly because, from what we could understand finally when we tried to take a shower was low water pressure. There was gray duct tape surrounding the pipe where the toilet pipe met the wall. It was roughly patched instead of properly fixed. We had to fill a pot in the kitchen sink and dump in the toilet to properly flush the toilet. We paid for the dining option, thinking that we would have several options of restaurants, like what we had in Aruba, but was told there was only one restaurant we could use our dining option on. Although the restaurant was very good and the waiters/waitresses were excellent, it would have been nice to have a few different places to choose from. The beach area and pool areas were always clean and neat. But needed paint and repairs. We were VERY pleased with all the staff in the hotel and the restaurant. Wonderful people. Very professional. We were extremely happy with the pick up and return drive to and from the airport. Very nice and very clean cars. My husband and I will not return. It might be a great option for families, not for us again.

Divi should be ashamed to have their name on this

I have been to a few Divi locations and have done numerous trips with Cheap Caribbean. This resort is not even in the same league as other Divi resorts. The property is old and very outdated.We waited from 2 pm till almost 6:30 pm to get a room. This is NOT a true BEACH FRONT RESORT.... We had to cross the street and walk down a path to get to the beach and the ONE AND ONLY restaurant/bar ( which btw was closed every night by 9). These owners have no idea what all inclusive means. They had so many restrictions on everything from food, drink, use of amenities. It was truly a horror. Numerous times during the stay I picked up my phone to call Cheap Caribbean to try and get a refund then move to another hotel but luckily my girlfriend stopped me. This was just a truly HORRIBLE experience. I will say one thing very positive. The staff (like every other Barbadian) could not be nicer. This is truly the friendliest island in the Caribbean. I have been to Barbados a few time before and the people and landscape is the reason I keep coming back. I rarely write negative reviews because I know nothing in life is perfect but I felt obligated to inform travelers on what a NIGHTMARE this property is

Divi is short for Divine

I was quite surprised due to previous reviews, but our stay at Divi Southwinds was Divine from the time we arrived until the moment we left. We were greeted upon our arrival in a very warm and friendly manner. It was a group of seven of us who booked three rooms and we were taken care of immediately. The ladies situated at the front desk were very professional and very efficient. We could not have asked for a better welcome. Thank you. Our pool view rooms were great. We had more than enough space for the two or three people to share. The beds were comfortable and the ability to adjust the room's climate was never an issue. All of our needs were met. There was no need to ask for anything. Everything the resort promised to us was provided and if you requested anything, there was no problem receiving it. Dwayne who handled our luggage was excellent. He even went out of his way to assist one of us when an injury occurred which I'm sure wasn't a job requirement. Thank you Dwayne. All the host/hostess at Pure Ocean are great. We never had to wait to be seated. We especially enjoyed the outstanding professionalism of the handsome host Junior. He assured all our needs were met. He continuously checked on us to ensure we were happy and satisfied. Your efficiency and manners were superb. Thank you Junior for your outstanding service. I definitely can't forget about the beautiful Samantha. You are amazing. Your service was great and your manner was refreshing. It was a pleasure being In your presence. Thank you Samantha, you did an excellent job fulfilling our orders. I applaud the Chef. The food at Pure Ocean was delicious. We attempted to order every item on the menu. Seriously, we did. I'm sure the staff bit off more than they could chew when they offered us an all inclusive deal lol. We all loved every meal we were served. The seasoning, the freshness, everything was perfect. Our extraordinary bartender/mixologist Hamilton was always on point. He keep the drinks flowing. He remembered what each one of us order, even when we were ordering several different drinks each. Thank you Hamilton. This is my third time visiting Barbados and after my stay at Divi, I will most definitely be returning to stay at this resort.

Stay away

No water for the first 2 days. Could not take a shower. I had to get water in a bowl and warm it in the microwave to wash off. After that we had water but it was a slow drip and the water was cold. The tub was disgusting, room raggedy. Had to request for house keeping to come to room and clean it bc they never came. Not worth the money please go somewhere else.

Just okay

pros Good location on the gap Clean and comfortable Food was good Nice locals Cons Old hotel One restaurant with one menu New to all inclusive staff needs education Slow service at restaurant Bar at pool was never open Beach not good for swimming at this time of year
