My husband and I just returned from Divi Carina in St. Croix. We just keep asking each other if it's time to go back yet? We had a great time, very relaxing. The food was really good, we ate too much every day. The staff was very congenial, even the cleaning ladies always had a "good morning". We felt very welcomed. The staff at the restaurants was very accommodating, friendly and spent time talking to us when they could. We met some really great people - from Divi and from the States that were vacationing also. We spent an hour at the spa getting a Swedish massage and didn't want to leave. The women there really knew what they were doing. We spent some time in Christiansted - shopping, sight seeing, and just talking to the locals. We never ran into a rude or miserable person. Everyone always had a smile, a hello or a great story to tell. We would highly recommend Divi if you just need to get away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life and just need to relax. I know that we are ready to go back for round two!!!
THIS IS OUR FAVORITE PLACE TO GO. THE FOOD IS GREAT, THE STAFF IS COURTEOUS, HELPFUL, AND FRIENDLY. WE HAVE BEEN GOING TO ST CROIX FOR OVER 35 YRS. THE NEW MANAGER AT THE DIVI HAS MADE MANY IMPROVEMENTS. HE IS FRIENDLY AND COURTEOUS, AND ALWAYS HAS A SMILE ON HIS FACE. THE DIVI IS NOT THE MOST LUXURIOUS RESORT, BUT IT IS THE MOST COMFORTABLE, SAFE, QUIET PIIECE OF PARADISE. AN ADDED PLUS IS THE ENTERTAINMENT, THE CASINO, AND IT IS ALL-INCLUSIVE. WE HAD A GREAT TIME, AND WILL BE BACK THERE NEXT YR.
I was highly disappointed in this "resorts" accomodations and service staff. The rooms were unkept; we did not receive maid service daily over the course of our 7 day stay. One of the pools was broken for the duration of our trip and the only other pool available was across the highway at another Divi facility. There was no hot tub on site, as described on the Divi's website, and only 2 of the 4 advertised restaurants were availabe to us (with 1 of the 2 only open Sunday, Monday and Tuesday). The staff was down right rude, with the exception of Scott our bartender. The bar closed daily at 10pm, including weekend nights. And there isn't any nightly entertainment as advertised - only on Thursday night. Overall, this resort is sub par at best. I would definitely NOT reccommend to anyone looking for an all inclusive experience. We wound up leaving the Divi and re-locating to the Marriott, which was wonderful.
My daughter & I stayed here during our last trip to St. Croix in March and we were very pleased with the resort. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the food was good and the beach was great! Special thanks to Rhonda, one of the wait staff, for making our dining experience so pleasant with her always happy personality and to Sean for making my first snorkeling experience a memorable one! I would definitely recommend the Divi Carina Bay Resort to anyone!
My husband and I decided to do a very last minute late summer vacation. via the Cheap Caribbean web-site. We had previously stayed at the Divi chain in Bonaire, so we decided to give this one a try. The package price was excellent, and we booked one of the meal plans. Breakfast was served in the typical buffet style in the tall rotunda dining room facing the ocean. Although we didn't arrange a room on the beach we were highly surprised to discover that all the rooms in the main buildings face the beach and we had a lovely view from the balcony facing the beach and the room was quite large. The resort wasn't very full due to it being "off-season" but we definitely prefer that. The on-site bar by the pool was a daily hang out for us and we tried dinner at the restaurant/bar a few times. It didn't disappoint. The Divi also has a pizza bar behind the main buildings and that was also fun and tasty-they had live entertainment (including a fire dancer) the night we ate there. The staff helped out to arrange a local car rental, delivered and picked up at the resort. We arranged for diving on the other side of the island, which was a beautiful drive across and the dives were great. We saw sea turtles and dolphins, and the staff at the dive business were awesome too. The whole trip was a great experience and St. Croix is really lovely. We had a great time!
My girlfriend and I have done quite a few all inclusive vacations so we thought we knew what to expect...boy were we wrong! There is a set lunch & dinner menu that is pretty much the same everyday except for a few specials. This is not a buffet type plan. You need to take a table then wait (a long time) for a waiter or waitress to bring you a menu then you order your meal. There was only one bar open the whole time and it seemed as though one of the bartenders was more interrested in keeping stock and entering data into a computer than serving drinks to the gueststhat were waiting ...on a positive note the slow pace made us slow down by the end of the week as well. The setting was beautiful! Everyroom is an ocean view as well as most dining areas! The area that breakfast was served can get very hot because they seem to have covered over the natural air vents up near the cieling and being all windows that do not open with running cieling fans it becomes like a convection oven inside. My advice: stay away from the windows & ask for a waiter to open the door or both. The beach is nice but public and often dirty & unkept. I picked up so many beer bottle caps & threw them out only to find out later from a worker it seems to be a casual thing . The water looks beautiful but is full of sea grass so its good for snorkling & kyaking but not swimming. The room was adequate but the door didnt close or lock properly which scared me so I pushed a plant or chair in front of the door every nite so that if someone entered it would falll over and wake me. The daily staff as well as people of St. Croix were slow paced and very friendly. Everyone says hello! You can probably enjoy this place more if you go into it knowing what to expect. They have alot of work to do to get it up & running as one might expect an all inclusive DIVI "Resort" to run.
My wife and I have spent many vacations in the Virgin Islands but this is the one that we will always remember! The servie at the resort was fantastic and the accomadations were just perfect. We walked right out of our room and we were on the beach. There were many activities to enjoy and the food was delicious. We walked just across the street to the casino and there is a pizza oven (brick) on the premises. The only complaint that we have is that our stay was far too short. Thank you so much for your assistance in completing this wonderful trip for us.
I had a great time and I really appreciated the great service the bartender David gave us and our waitres Laticia. The beach and the water was beautiful and I cannot wait to go back. I had the best steak of my life in the starlite terrace but if staying here I would advise purchasing the all inclusive package. I cannot wait to go back and I reccommend this resort to anyone.
Great moderate level resort. Food in buffet was good but the ala carte dinners were much better than expected. Their Manko crusted Mahi was to die for! Room was comfortable but older as expected. Only slept and showered in it. Due to the time of the year, pretty much had the resort to ourselves. Great Value!
Going in May was a great idea, the resort was not crowded with people and we were able to enjoy the peace and quiet of the pool and beach. The staff was very friendly and nice. Rent a car as that will save you money and time to go out and explore the rest of the Island.
