After reading reviews on the Colony Club, it looked like the best match for me; friendly service, somewhat secluded, and right on the beach. I wanted something quiet, but if I wanted to explore the nightlife I have that option as well. It was perfect! I loved that you are also able to take the water taxi to the hotel's other locations, so you can see Barbados by sea. The snorkeling was great and LOTS of sunshine. The staff was accommodating and friendly, and Barbados was the BEST since the locals are fantastic too! I will go back to the Colony Club, or even pick out another one of their sister locations in the future, but almost afraid to since I enjoyed the Colony Club so much!
Landscaping and pool-cleaning must be a 24-hour job at Colony Club. The property literally teems with plantings, waterfalls and semi-naturalized pools. There seems to be too little open space here, even at the beach, where the umbrellas and lounge chairs are so close together that one cannot pass between them. Breakfast ends at 9:30; woe to the beach bum who gets his bum out of bed after that. Lunch doesn't start until 12:30, so you simply have to wait till then to eat. Not that the swim up bar and beachside restaurant aren't nice places to spend the day; it's hard to beat watching English Premier League soccer from the swim-up bar with a bunch of Brits on Sunday morning. The cocktails are excellent and food very good; with the exception of a surly host one night, who lectured us for not having a dinner reservation when the joint was (literally) empty, the staff is over-the-top great. The hotel makes an extra effort to have live music each and every day or night. There are simply too many world-class off-grounds dinner options nearby to limit yourself to Colony Club each night, though. The location on the West Coast is excellent. We stayed in a "junior suite" some distance from the beach, so you couldn't hear the surf, much less see it. That's somewhat disappointing in a beach hotel, particularly when you reserve a junior suite. Expect to be comfortable, but don't expect a "heavenly bed" or anything like that. Overall, I found the stay enjoyable and rewarding but not one that makes my Top Ten.
My wife and I just stayed a week at the Colony Club. We loved it. Great setting, great location, great food, great beach and water activities. MOST of the staff were great. The rooms were a little dated, but we had no complaints. We had a bottom floor ocean view that was PERFECT. So close to the beach, and with a great view. We looked at several other resorts in the area, including ones that we were once considering, and were thrilled with our choice, and would not have wanted to be anywhere else. We also traveled the entire Island, and were thrilled with our decision to stay on the West Coast.....
The Colony Club made for a splendid beach vacation. we went to Barbados for a relatively short wedding visit and the Colony Club was perfect. Excellent service, with a welcome rum punch to refresh you upon arrival. In addition they do alot of litle things thast go a long way..Examples are breakfast included, all watersports free of charge, visible security guards, and someone handing you frsh fruit on the beach without even asking.I definitely recommend the Colony Club
I did enjoy my Stay at the Colonly Club. However what I did not enjoy was a CAT roming around the Pool Side & Main Dining Rooms. Since I am allergic to Cats and deathly afraid of them my Dining Experiences (Breakfast & Lunch) were not very Good ones. In addition, the fact that the Hotel did nothing to help alleviate this problem made it even worse. The service also was not up to good standards and the Pool(s) did not look clean & inviting. The Ocean/Beach & Lush Surroundings were the saving graces that helped make my stay enjoyable.
