More Than We Ever Expected!

The staff was absolutely amazing and the food was so good- with a ton of variety. There are no reservations on this resort- and the only time we waited in line for a table was the night we went for hibachi. They served all the top liquors and restocked our mini fridge with Corona and mini liquor bottles. The room we stayed in was a preferred junior suite with ocean view- and i would have paid for the view alone- it overlooked the pool and beach area and was great to wake up to the sun rising. They kept the resort absolutely IMMACULATE, not a single leaf or towel out of place in any of the common areas. We took advantage of beach and pool volleyball, kayaks, the golf course, the spa, and the scuba excursion. The beach had soft white sand and a beautiful turquoise hue. They have a beach bar with swings all around it- which was my favorite bar- getting to swing by the bar on the beach- whats better?! They also had bands every other day and a beach BBQ that my bf said was the best bbq he ever had- and he is pretty particular. The spa was the best I have ever been to- with the sauna, steam room, whirlpool, cold pool, and regular pool with different water massage spouts. They constantly brought out water and were really attentive to keeping us comfortable. My boyfriend was getting sick from the plane on the second day so we went to the spa and it cleared up his congestion and made the rest of our trip wonderful. it was a real life saver. The golf course featured mostly par 3/4 holes, which was perfect for us since we are novice golfers but wanted to enjoy the course. It also featured wide fairways and dense greens- which again was perfect for us. The scuba excursion had to be our favorite by far! The instructor, Borris, sits by the pool and asked us every morning if we would go out scuba with him, which i was a little nervous about the pressure since i have been snorkeling before. but on our last full day i wanted to do a half day excursion- it was extremely reasonable pricing and he did a quick demo in the pool with all the gear and got us comfortable and then took us out on the boat and we did two 45 min dives. The first is to the underwater statue museum, which acts as a reef for a lot of the fish- we even saw a barracuda- but like all animals keeps its distance. We saw sea turtle, lobster, puffer fish and tons of other bright and big fish. Borris made us feel 100% comfortable the entire time and made sure we went at our own pace. 10/10 i absolutely recommend- and you don't have to be scuba certified. On one side of the resort they are doing construction on a new resort and heard from people staying on that side that they were getting woken up by hammering and were hating that part of their stay- it did not affect us but i would ask where your room is when you book and change if it is in the construction side. I was in building 3 and loved it. I know i am most likely leaving out a ton- but we met a ton of great people who we are still in touch with and cannot rave enough about this resort.

Wonderful vacation

My husband and I just returned from spending the first week of October at Breathless. My overall review is that it is an excellent resort and we had a wonderful vacation. I read a lot of reviews before going and we immediately upgraded to XHALE club on arrival which I would say was the best money ever spent. Not only was our room pin-drop quiet (away from the constant thumping music at the party pool), we had access to Kibbeh restaurant which was by far my favorite meals. The XHALE pool was also suburb. Quiet, relaxing, plenty of chairs, and excellent bar service. The XHALE lounge was a wonderful oasis and Antonio - the bartender was magnificent. He made our trip! Personal attention - remembered what we liked to drink, what activities we had done. Exceptional service! I was disappointed in the French restaurant, even after lots of positive reviews. The food was lack luster. We did enjoy Kibbeh for many meals and our waiter Cristhian was amazing and bent over backwards at every meal. Spoon (the all day buffet) exceeded my expectations. I usually avoid buffets because the food is usually sub quality and luke warm- but this was a great restaurant. Lots of variety, and the manager was always working hard there. She was extremely attentive to my gluten allergy and went above and beyond to accommodate me. We left the Asian restaurant before eating as their solution to my gluten allergy was not to my satisfaction. The grill by the pool had excellent lunch options and the chef was quick and made exactly what you wanted! Our room was amazing. The lighting in the room is easy to use and smart. Controls are right inside the door and next to the bed. They have a motion censored night light that was genius. The room has speakers in the ceiling to listen to music through the tv. There is a tablet in the room. I think that technology has some kinks to work out as the resort keeps all the daily activities on there (although which restaurants are open each day was not accurate), you can order room service through the tablet, find out info about the resort and things available. It is basically a brochure on a tablet. The wireless connectivity was excellent. The shower was my favorite feature- it was HUGE - 2 rain shower heads, plus a regular shower head with pebble tile floor. It was amazing. The minibar is stocked every day, and our room had a coffee maker and espresso maker. Although, since the Nook Coffee bar was one building away, we never had to make our own coffee! Nook - the coffee bar is basically a small star bucks. Delicious and amazing. We were in there every day. Coffee, pastries, frozen yogurt... all delicious and the hours they are open are amazing. Our balcony was large with a whirlpool tub and two chairs and a table. We sat outside every day and we had a great view of the pool and beach. We were in building 3. We are avid tennis players and we were disappointed when we went to play tennis and we were told the tennis court was not open. After speaking with the concierge, they arranged for us to play tennis at a nearby resort (also owned by AMResorts). That was a fabulous solution and we greatly appreciated the extra effort. The tennis court did open on the last day of our stay. It is a roof- top court made out of turf. I did not like how the ball bounced on the turf, so I was actually glad we were able to go to an outside hard court while we were there. The beach is exactly like the reviews I read said. There is a large visible barrier/dune between the beach and the water. There is very little actual beach. The sand is nice and the water was clean and warm. The resort does a great job of both keeping the beach clean of sea weed and patrolling security constantly. I appreciated the security guard who asked us our room number one day when we walked past him. You can't really enjoy laying out on the beach as the chairs are on the other side of the dune away from the beach. Not the best beach, so if you are a beach person, I think you would be disappointed. We did kayak one day and the equipment was nice, well maintained, and readily available. We enjoyed several games of ping pong by the pool and absolutely loved the swinging chairs in The Bar. The gift shop was very nice and had everything you would need if you forgot anything. The drinks were made well and the wait service was excellent. I particularly loved their response when I thanked them. They often said, "My pleasure" or "pleasure" and most of the staff I got the feeling truly loved serving the guest and did find pleasure in making our stay memorable. We had an absolutely wonderful time. I didn't give it 5 palms because a few of the restaurants did disappointed me and the loud music was crazy. We were able to upgrade to avoid the music- but honestly, why does the music need to be that loud?? I am grateful we were able to escape to the XHALE pool and room areas for the quiet vacation we were looking for. Although, it is to the resort's credit that they can meet both of those totally different guests expectations.

Beautiful Resort

What a great resort. Absolutely gorgeous, entertainment was good with pool parties nightly shows were great. If you can afford to upgrade to Exhale Club I would highly recommend it. I have stayed at Breathless in Punta Cana and didn't upgrade here it gives access to a quiet pool if you want some peace and quiet and the restaurant for Exhale has the best breakfast. The private Exhale lounge was pretty awesome to. Everything was really clean and well maintained. The staff were all great. My only complaint was the food as it was just mediocre. Great place would totally stay again.

Great time!

We spent a week at Breathless the second week of June. This resort is new. We booked a deal of fortune, 5 star, all adults room and were very lucky to get this resort. We upgraded to the Exhale side of the resort when we arrived at the resort and would definitely recommend it. The Exhale side has a quiet pool where we spent all of our pool time. The pool area was very well taken care of by the pool staff person. He was super attentive and went to great lengths to make guests comfortable and keep the area looking spectacular and clean. There were plenty of comfy loungers with umbrellas at this pool. The service and drinks at this pool were the best we've ever experienced at an AI. The drinks were full size and made to order; no dixie size cups over here. There were two other pools; the activity pool and the party pool. Not really our deal so we stayed on the relaxing side. We never saw anyone swimming in the ocean the entire time. There are plenty of loungers and cabanas at the beach but we never sat down there despite being 'beach people' because the beach and sand areas just aren't very nice at this location. There was some decent beach for swimming in the ocean to the south. We walked the beach as far as we could each day; I overhead someone else mention that it was about 4 miles down and back; you can't really get any further. The Exhale restaurant, Kibbeh, was amazing, especially the service. The food was excellent and we ate almost all of our breakfasts and lunches at this location. We ate dinner here on two occasions, these were our best two dinners by far and I'd recommend the beef filet and sea bass for sure. Lunch is always served with chips and salsa and guacamole. Fish tacos, ceviche, and nachos were awesome for lunch. The restaurant is open air next to the sea. We also had tapas one day for lunch at Bites; chicken wings were worth mentioning here. We never did go to the buffet but we did eat at the French, Asian, Mexican, and steak restaurants. The French and Asian places had pretty good food and great service. The Mexican food was alright but service was not great. Margaritas were good at this location. The steak was not impressive at the steak place and service was also not great. Have the steak over at Kibbeh for sure. There was also food available all day in the Exhale lounge. Drinks and service were spectacular in the location as was the Mexican coffee and espresso. The coffee house is a great place to grab a snack, cold gelato or extra dessert along with a latte or espresso. Our room had an espresso machine so plenty of coffee on this trip. We did have room service one morning when it was raining and it was prompt and food was very good. We met some folks who also had dinner by room service and they commented that it was also good. We were in an ocean front room on the fourth floor of the building furthest to the south. The room was amazing. Everything was beautiful and clean. The worst part is the sheets; the fitted sheets are completely pilled which is really scratchy. The A/C worked great. Mini fridge is stocked daily with beers and small bottles of rum and whiskey along with mixers and peanut MMs and pringles. Cleaning service was generally good although one day we returned to our room at about 5pm and it hadn't been cleaned. We headed to the Exhale lounge for a game of Scrabble and a couple of drinks and it was done when we returned. Would definitely stay here again!

Brand new resort

The resort is brand new and modern. They put all the bells and whistles into this resort. On day one, our room was very slimy and damp due to the humidity in the rooms - the floors and tabletops. My daughter slipped on the wet flooring causing a big gash on her foot that had to be wrapped daily and a bruised, swollen back as she landed on her back when her feet came out from underneath her. To keep the humidity low in the room, the room temp had to be very low - it was always freezing in our room. The food quality was bad. Food in the buffet was never hot or even warm. I don't particularly like cold scrambled eggs. Too many rice, potato and soup options and not enough vegetables. The restaurants are nothing to brag about either. Very limited food options. Same with room service. Cut fruit is only available at breakfast - never at lunch or dinner. Not sure they'll ever be able to improve on food quality as they don't have separate cooking stations where the food is freshly made. Don't bother paying for a swim-out pool. No one used them, they don't give you access to the bigger pools, and a lot of them are in the shade. For those with balconies, they give you a hot tub, but it is so small that my petite frame would only fit if I sat up straight with my knees pulled up. People weren't using these either. Entertainment was a C list of performers. They were all cringe worthy. Hearing the same techno beat day in and day out almost became a nuisance. I would rather listen to the radio than hear the same beat over and over again. Became quite boring. I've been to several 5 star all-inclusive a, and this one doesn't make the grade. You can put as many bells and whistles into a resort, but without the basic substance - good food - it's really not worth it. I was expecting more out of this resort, and was even considering going to the one in Jamaica when it opens. Not now. I would not recommend spending your money on this resort.

Great Vacation!

I went to Breathless with 3 of my friends for a girls getaway. The highlight of the resort is definitely the level of service provided by the employees. I've stayed at several all inclusive resorts and the hospitality provided at Breathless was top notch. There plenty of different activities going on during the day and also great entertainment at night. The Asian and Italian restaurants had fabulous food and the buffet was also very good. This is more of a party resort so I do not think I would choose it if you are looking for more of a relaxing or romantic getaway. Overall, we loved the resort and had a fantastic time there. I would definitely go back!

UNBELIEVABLE!!! GREATEST VACATION EVER!

So, after reading numerous reviews of all-inclusives in the Cancun area, we chose this one for my girlfriend's 40th birthday. I am 38. Now, we like to eat great food all over the US and we like to have fun, but not 20 year old fun...okay, maybe a little here and there. This was by and far the best vacation decision we have ever made! From the moment you are greeted to the moment you leave, the service is out of this world! To find a flaw in your stay, you REALLY have to look hard for it. As soon as we got there because it was a special occasion, they upgraded us for free to a great room, and mind you this was during the actual grand opening. Ribbons on the door, birthday cake inside, full mini bar, excellent room and shower and view were out of this world. So our 6 nights flew by so quickly we could not believe it. You will definitely not run out of things to do while there. Restaurants-wise you have to have the Tomahawk steak at the steakhouse and you have to do the French restaurant without a doubt. Italian was simply okay, but those two, Hibachi, and the Mexican restaurant were outstanding! Some of the best French food I have ever had, and I have been to a couple Michelin Star winners and James Beard finalist French restaurants. The buffet was AWESOME every day and night with an awesome mimosa and bloody mary bar and seafood buffets and steak buffets that will blow your mind for a buffet. Everything here is top of the line! Nightlife is great, during the day, the pools are electric and your drink will never get empty, especially if you tip a little here and there and be friendly. If you find Adel at the side pool with the huge hot tub and take care of him a little bit, he will take care of you! Shots non-stop that are not straight alcohol and drinks on demand, but Adel has some fruitier shots so you dont taste the alcohol and you dont get completely out of control. Outstanding service! Definitely get away and walk down the beach a bit. There is reciprocal with I believe Sands and you can go down there during the day and get a drink at their pool and have dinner at their restaurants as well in the evening. The only thing to be aware of is the coral in the water. WATCH YOUR STEP ON THE WAY IN! Make sure to do the foam party at least one day while you are there. There are shows, clubs, rooftop restaurants/bars, a sports bar which I watched my Cubbies make the WS from and Friday and Saturday nights in the Night Club are awesome and the Manager will make sure you are 100% taken care of! Make sure you do room service. Very, very good! As for the drinks, the alcohol is REAL. None of the watered down stuff you get at the other resorts. If you are doing shots of Tequila, beware! It is real Tequila and you will be very drunk! Made that mistake on the day Adel had a day off and let's just say I was in bed early that day. The only thing this place does not have is a Casino, and since I do not gamble, it didn't matter. There are events and fun to be had at all times. The pools are loud, but they calm down around 11:00 PM and the sliding doors are very sound proof. But honestly, if any noise actually wakes you up, you have to be a very light sleeper as my lady is and didn't wake up a single night. Also, one of the things we did that was absolute fun was to hop a cab from the resort to downtown Cancun, take the ferry to Isla Mujeres and rent a golf cart for $35 and drive all over the little island! Make sure to find the drive through Corona store, as you can drive around drinking for around 6 hours and seeing all of the sights of true Mexico. Get some Mexican food here and if you want a massage, this is where to do it! We talked to people who did the ruins, others who did Playa del Carmen, and everyone said if you are leaving the resort for one day, Isla Mujeres and they were absolutely right! All in all, you will not be disappointed with this resort. Its been a month since we were there and all I want to do is go back! It is a little more money than most of the other all-inclusives, but I can see why! In this case, it is worth it! And all of the workers speak English, they are extremely friendly, cordial, polite, and helpful every inch of the way! It is going to be very hard to top this vacation! As some other reviews of other resorts mentioned time share selling and workers demanding tips, I did not see any of that at this resort to my girlfriend, myself, or others we talked to, as it is very easy to make friends here. Again, the difference in price will be well worth it and I could not imagine doing an all-inclusive in Cancun/Riviera Maya and not coming back here...if only to eat and see the workers again! That says a lot!

The Tomahawk Steak with a bite out...so good, couldnt get a picture off before digging in! The view from our balcony at night!

This Trip was Awesome !!!

First off , Let me say Breathless was Amazing !!! From the moment we arrived and were greeted with glasses of champagne. Everything about this place was first class !!! The resort is brand new and incredible !!! We were treated like royalty!!!! Our room was located Oceanfront on the fourth floor. We had a junior exhale suite. It was great but I upgraded to a first floor oceanfront junior suite because I "had" to have the swim out infinity pool off the patio. This was a great move, it was awesome !!! The service was great, especially Adele the pool and beach waiter. He happily would bring us anything we wanted to drink with a smile on his face. He was the Best !!!!! The party pool was crazy with so much Fun and action. If quiet is what you want the other pools are great. The food was excellent at all the restaurants we ate at. Room service was even great. Every single employee at this hotel was so nice and really cared. Service , Service, Service I recommend this place to everyone !!!!!! There is not one complaint !!! This place is really a slice of heaven !!!!

Our vacation left us BREATHLESS

From the moment we stepped out of our taxi and onto the resort property, we were mesmerized. The beauty this resort offers is unparalleled. The checkin staff was gracious and inviting. We upgraded our room to the "Xhale" side of the resort so we could ensure a quit location and beautiful views. We were not disappointed! While the other two locations on the resort property are nice, they tend to be a little noisier that what we wanted. Our room was perfectly adorned with a modern/hip interior and offered us an exceptional view of the ocean. The mini bar was stocked daily with coronas, liquor, M&M's and Pringles. The large dual rain shower was to die for and was just what we needed after a long, beautiful day in the sun. The bed/bedding was comfortable and the pillows were perfect (and I'm a pillow snob)! The restaurants were amazing and each one offered it's own unique vibe and food selections. The best part was that there were no reservations required (except for the Hibatchi) so getting a table on our time was painless. The service was superior and you become very spoiled by the attentiveness of the staff (at EVERY single place). As a reminder, the men do have to wear pants (no shorts) and sandles (no flip flops) - aside from that dress code is elequantlly casual. The nightlife was fun, especially the evening shows throughout the week. For us, the 80's throwback was a favorite! Who doesn't love breakdancing - especially when you fancied yourself one back in the day?! Our days were spent relaxing on the beach area, absorbing morning sunshine while stretching into a pretzel during the multiple yoga/fitness classes, resting poolside in the delightful cabanas, joining the foam pool party fun, and drinking way to many Miami Vices and Modelo beers. ;) Also something to note is that the poolside bars/restaurants do a wonderful job of taking care of you with great drinks and nibbles throughout the day! Our only complaints are so minor that they are barely worth mentioning - one would be the "beach area" immediately surrounding the hotel (not the actual beach) has a foundation of cement. In many areas it was rocky so you needed flip flops. Also, the music by the xclerate pool was pretty much techno every single day. I'll admit, I'm 44, and probably would have loved this 25 years ago. We kept wishing that they would dedicate some time to other music with actual words. And speaking of age - I was a bit concerned after we booked that we would be surrounded with the younger generation (based on the website pictures), thankfully that was NOT the case. There was a fabulous mixture of ages (older (75ish) to younger (mid 20's) with the bulk of the people being 40 and above. As an aside, we did take a day to visit Chichen Itza. Definitely worth it! We took the early morning excurtion and got to the place before the BIG crowds came. This allowed for such better picture taking and exploration. We were back at the hotel by 2:00, which was great because we still had so much of the day left! Also, the onsite representatives make this process hassle free. They were fabulous with getting us where we needed to be and telling us every detail we needed to know. All and all, this vacation ranks as one of our top favorites! And we have been to many destinations. We simply cannot say enough good things about this place! Book your vacation now - you will NOT be sorry! Thank you Breathless for being everything we had hoped for and so much more!

Beautiful resort but needs many changes

My wife and I just got back from Breathless Riviera Cancun celebrating our 23rd anniversary. We are both a young spirited 44 years old and have been to several all inclusive resorts. I want to give you a fair and open minded review. We spent 8 days at this resort and upgraded to the Exhale Club side and it was worth every penny. Not sure if we could've lasted 8 days anywhere else on the property. Upon arrival we were greeted with smiling faces and offered a glass of champagne for each of us which was very nice - except for the fact that the lady greeting us forgot to bring the champagne to us..Lol... that kinda summed up our entire stay at this resort. Like I said, I want to be fair... here's the PROS that we experienced: 1. The rooms are big, comfortable and spacious 2. The Exhale Club, pool and amenities were awesome 3. Swim out room was great 4. Adel, the server at the Exhale pool was amazing!! Hardest working guy at the resort. 5. Food overall was above average.. at some restaurants it was really good 6. Overall service was very good 7. The message at the Spa was probably the best we ever had 8. The grounds around the resort were clean and up kept 9. Drinks were good... wish the beer was a little colder Now the Cons: 1. Every place other than the Exhale side felt like Spring Break or a college frat party. Loud, drunk college kids (and many older creepy adults) sloppy drunk throughout the 2 open pools. I'm sure I sound like an old man, but just not our thing ALL THE TIME. 2. Our room had a constant mildew smell 3. The beach is terrible... too much seaweed 4. Services at the Spa were very expensive 5. The entire resort seemed over crowded. 6. Guys must wear pants at all the restaurants (except for the Spoon Buffet), even the outdoor restaurants. They need to re-think this policy. There's nothing wrong with a nice shirt and shorts. Many people were not happy about that rule even though a lot of resorts have the same policy. This should change. Overall, we had a good time and would suggest this resort to our friends. Just be aware of the atmosphere your going to encounter. If you want peace and quite, you need to upgrade to the Exhale Club. If you like to party 24/7 then the main resort is prefect for you.
