We booked the 5 Sun Jammin' Adults only Montego bay Deal of Fortune, 1 week before departure we were notified of our resort: Breathless.. We were excited as it was brand new and just opened. Upon arrival to check in desk, we were greeted with champagne and cold towels, enjoyed a cocktail at the lobby bar and proceeded to check-in. We were informed our reservation was actually at the sister property- Secrets St. James- short walk right next door. It ended up being the best thing that could have possibly happened. Although we were offered rights to still be on the Breathless property, there was no reason to be. I am all for a party vacation- but the Breathless property is designed in my estimation for a large college party. That is what they are driving for, which I suspected is why when they saw our group they decided we would be better suited at Secrets St. James. Now- onto a review of Secrets St. James. The resort was not lacking in any way at all, I cannot even really make any suggestions on how to make it better. We have stayed at RIU Montego Bay and Iberostar Rose Hall Suites the last 2 years. Secrets blew them out of the water. The food, the service, the property itself. In every way Secrets St. James exceeded our expectations. I would recommend booking Secrets rather than Breathless unless you are 21-25 and want a 24 dance party.
My wife and I had a great trip to Breathless MoBay 4/22/17 - 4/29/17. Doing the DOF, it was a great value. The resort is very modern and sleek. We had a great room, and received very good service at the bars and restaurants The issue for us was the size of the resort (small), the fact that it isn't on the beach, limited food options, and the lack of on-site fitness facilities. Having access to Secrets fixed all those shortcomings but it'd be nice not to have to leave the property to have a great vacation. Oh, and the music stinks! Who needs constant techno? Even at breakfast and dinner, the same thump, thump, thump.... Overall we had a great trip but only because we had access to Secrets. I'd consider coming back but only if it's a great price. I'd never book this resort at it's advertised price, it's not worth it. Secrets on the other hand, is busy but great.
Our overall experience at BMB was awesome!!! The room was beautiful, the grounds were very well kept and the service was great! Wereally enjoyed having access to both our resort and secrets. The entertainment at Breathless needs a little work but being able to access the entertainment at Secrets, made up for that. The food on Breathless' side was great, everything was fresh and very flavorful. When you travel here make sure that you bring enough cash to tip the staff (the pressure to tip was a little overwhelming but they work so hard). The beach was located on the secrets side, which is a little walk, but it's worth it. We hadn't been to a beach that nice in a long time. There were a few jelly fish after the storm but they weren't harmful. As stated before, everything was great overall. I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a great adult only experience. Great for celebrating milestones or girls/guys trips! They cAn definitely expect us back!
We spent 6 nights at Breathless Montego Bay. Because this is such a new property, there were a few hiccups. Having said that, at any point something came up that was out of the norm, staff members were there to fix the situation (because "there are no problems in Jamaica, Just situations)! First and foremost, I need to give a shout out to our butlers, Naraine and Adia. These 2 did everything and much much more. Dinner reservations, welcome gifts, departing gifts...nothing was too much to ask. Always a smile on their face and so happy to see you every morning. Great job, Naraine and Adia! The food was amazing! We did not have a bad meal! We liked Altitude (rooftop) for dinner, which was Indian cuisine. Bartenders were great as well. Great selections of alcohol as well. One thing is for sure, they do NOT water down the drinks. *Tip- if you want Jerk Chicken, go see Keimo at the beach grill at the Breathless beach. We are there 4 times and the chicken along with their sweet potato fries are to die for. Rooms were fantastic. As you all know, they are very high tech. The iPad doesn't work that great 100% of the time, but you can always use the wall buttons. *Tip - you can send a request for housekeeping to clean your room through the iPad with a requested time. I found when you use this method it was always cleaned on time. Beach- nice little section snuggled between Secrets and the Hard Rock. Not a huge stretch, but it's still nice. Very nice beds and loungers on the beach. *Tip- bring your own little Bluetooth speaker and play your music. It's a nice break from the racquet they play at the pools. Pools- beautiful! Nothing bad to say about them. Roof top and main pool, both gorgeous. Not many people swim or hang out on the roof top. The nice part about the pools and beach is there is no "towel game"....yet! The hotel is not even close to capacity, so there is tons of chairs and/or beds. Music- common topic around this resort. Quite honestly, the music seemed to be a bone of contention with most, if not all of the guests. EVERY guest I spoke to had the same complaints. Too much beat, no lyrics, blaring base. The music did not seem to fit what the resort was all about. You have this super new, sleek, modern resort along with that music, just odd. Any requests to get something else, were very quickly shut down. Tip- bring headphones Bugs- there is quite a few misquotes around the property. If you leave your patio door open too long, there will be a pile of them in your room. They seem to spray for them an awful lot and trust me, you will know when they spray (especially if you are on the ground floor because your room will become very foggy!) I would recommend you stay here. It's big Grand Opening is only going to happen around September, which will allow for some more time for fine tuning. As stated, staff is really great. Good luck.
We are seasoned travelers. We arrived at Breathless on 3/3. It had a delayed opening on 2/28. Breathless was supposed to open in late December 2016. The resort was not full (approximately 50% capacity, I estimate). Pools, swim up bar and grounds were beautiful. Poolside chairs, beds, and floats were great. Not many people pool side. Seemed like more staff than guests at times. No beach at Breathless. There was a beautiful "exclusive Breathless beach" a short walk away at Secrets. Spent a lot of time in the warm clear water. Snorkeling was fun. The food on site at Breathless was delicious at all 3 restaurants. Same menu everyday. No waiting inline to be seated. Drinks were plentiful. Red strip beer. No early morning coffee on site, Needed to go to Secrets to get a cup of coffee. Ate most of our meals at Secrets as we spent all day at the beach. Dinners were excellent. The rooms at Breathless were beautiful. Everything was controlled by touch pad... no light switches. Once we figured out which touch pad opened the curtains, and turned on the lights/fans we were ok except we needed our glasses at all times. Staff were fun and upbeat pushing "the party" image of the resort. Few comments to consider...We were traveling as a party of 9. We needed to be split up for meals as the restaurants could/would not accommodate large parties-- not optimal for our group. We did mention this to a manager who stated that the resort was not intended for large parties. He suggested we eat at 6pm or 9 pm to be seated together. The restaurants at Secrets and Breathless supposedly did not take reservations, but we did learn that guests with "butler service " got reservations and noted they got preferential treatment. The biggest issue at Breathless was the continuous loud "techno" music. When we booked our reservation we did not know that being a "party resort" meant there would be unrelenting loud techno-music. We could not carry on a conversation at the pool or at an outdoor restaurant because of the volume of the music. The music could be heard in the rooms, especially when the balcony doors were open. We will not return to Breathless because of the techno-music. Please note: We do not object to continuous music but would recommend that dj play a variety of music and modulate the volumes during dinner and in the later evening hours. We would return to Secrets as the staff and the beach were wonderful.
This was out second time at Secrets in Montego Bay because the food is excellent. We saw that Breathless was recently opened and confirmed that it had access to all of secrets Wild Orchid and St. James so we thought we would give it a try. 1) The rooms are amazing! Absolutely perfect with a huge jacuzzi and the balcony and a rain shower in the room. Everything is powered by a tablet in the room as well. 2) Breathless stayers have access to Secrets but not vice versa which gives a Breathless guest more options. because of this, Breathless is less crowded and has the roof- top pool and restaurant that is not overrun with other guests. The walk to the secrets restaurants is a little far from breathless but worth it for the extra amenities. 3) The beach is on secrets side so you have to walk. 4) The jerk chicken at Breathless/Secrets is the best chicken on the planet. I continue to go back just for that. Give it a shot, you'll love it!
Beautiful and new resort. Staff is on excellent with accommodations. The downside is that the resort plays techno music all day nonstop which is quite ridiculous and annoying. There were many complaints about that from the guests. Good thing we had access to Secrets and could go over there, but it's not everyday that you feel like walking over to the other resorts. Also, there was a lack of entertainment. The resort has only been open for 6 weeks, but I suggest they get advice from the Breathless in Dominican Republic because their entertainment crew is on point, I had so much fun there. Overall nice resort, but the music and entertainment will need to change before I revisit.
Breathless resort in Jamaica is terrible I suggest for you to RUN from your thought of visiting. Everything is inconvenience only has three restaurants on property the 4th is located on their rocky beach which is an inconvenience to get to.. Las Vegas Hotels are bigger than what they are calling a resort. This was a waste of my 40hrs of hard earn vacation time and not to mention the cost. You have to go to Secrets for your enjoyment which is cheaper but again inconvenience to get to. More to follow on TripAdvisor with more exposure of this terrible resort.
Well, this s a new resort- so new in fact that when we arrived we had no rooms! My entire party, 4 rooms, was moved to Secrets for the week. We were able to go and dine there and the food was wonderful but service on "Jamaican time". We got to walk the grounds and there is no immediate beach, it is a little hike BUT you are able to use Secret's facilities. We are in our mid 50's and I would say that Breathless is geared to a much younger crowd. There were people staying there and the rumor mill was that "anything goes"- now understandably, we are all on vacation and I am far from a prude BUT there are some things that are better left behind closed doors....
Poor service. Restaurants were at a minimum and one of them was CLOSED the 2 days that we were there! It was great that we had access to Secrets because that is where we ate ALL of our meals!
