Well, first of all we requested a queen-size bed and a roll-away; we got 2 double beds (sorry, but they are way small for 2 adults). We were put in a "cottage" which would have been OK except that we had 2 days of rain and our room got flooded out---twice. The 2nd time we had returned @ 9:30 PM from a day of hiking and snorkeling and had to pack up and move to a different room. It would have been nice if they had at least offered to help carry our stuff to the new room. The new room was fine. Though the desk staff were friendly, they gave misinformation about shuttles and taxis. Having a clothes dryer on premises for our use would have been great, as much of our clothes, beach towels, etc. were constantly soaked due to the monsoon rains. Spend the extra money on the Emerald, but do check out Fiesta restaurant for dinner.

Pretty decent deal

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. There were a few hiccups when we first got there - one person at the front desk checking in about 15 people; not enough towels or bathroom tissue in the rooms ... But overall, the experience was pretty good. The rooms were basic but clean but the view from my balcony made it all soar to a whole new level!! It was amazing!! The waves broke directly under my balcony and lulled me to sleep at night, and in the morning, the sun came streaming in from over the hill and I got up to count how many iguanas were already sunning themselves in the seagrape trees right outside my room! I am planning a return trip next year and I want the same room!!! Thank you Best Western!!!

Beautiful Island

This resort is small but clean. We paid extra for an ocean view but had a large palm tree instead. When ask if we could be moved the told us they were full. If you want no frills then this is for you. There is no beach but there is a place to get in the ocean and snorkel. The sister hotel has a great beach which is offered at check in. Take them up on it. The mexican restaurant had pretty good food. But for great food go to Hook, Line and Sinker. We had rain 3 out of the 5 days but only one day did it last for a long time. If you rent a car you are in for an adventure. The roads are wild! All in all the trip was good.

OUR STAY

Our overall experience at the Best Western Carib was excellent! The Staff does a good job staying on top any guests' necessities; at least our experience with Shaun was great! There is a shuttle that takes you to the Emerald on an hourly basis, however during our stay it was never conveniently on time. We ate at the Restaurant (Try the Mexican Burger) and the view was great. It has just rained so we caught a beautiful rainbow as we dined. I would recommend dinner at Portobello’s at the Emerald Best Western...by far the best Italian I've had! We tried to have dinner at the Beachcumber Hotel near by as well, but the staff seemed far too occupied for good customer service. Keep in mind that the Best Western Carib is the closest to the Airport (DO NOT GET A TAXI!) we spend $12 to go down the street.. taxis are expensive! If you don't mind a good walk, The Beachcumber and Emerald aren't too far to walk.. it's a nice walk down the beach as well. TIP: There is a local shuttle (Safari) for locals that takes you around the island for no more than $2 per person. You have to catch it on a main street, they are easy to spot. MUST VISIT: Fat Turtle on a weekend! The Yatch Heaven Port is where you'll see a mixture of locals and tourist. It's a plaza by the port where you can shop, dine, drink and dance.. Even get a massage at the Prana Spa. We also visited RED HOOK, it's towards the far east end of the island where the Ferry takes you to St. John. Must spend a day at St. John, Trunk Bay is a paradise!!! On your way back dine and have some drinks at THE LOVE SHACK! My advice, spend the money on activities and stay at an economical place like the Best Western Carib.. you get all the benefits from the Emerald for free. It's a relaxting atmosphere so you'll want to spend your days at the beach, there is a Market/Liquor Store walking distance from Emerald where can buy your own alcoholic drinks and make it a private affair while you watch the sun set. The scenery sets the mood for practically anything! ENJOY! <3
