A good resort but rooms and furnishing including beddings were too old and worn for a 4 star Resort. Food, drinks and entertainment were great. The rooms will benefit from mordenising/refurbishing.
overall, very enjoyable except the A/C leaked and maintenance was not able to fix it, even in a week.
This was my first time to Puerto Plata, DR, and I am sure now that his hotel was the best choice. We enjoy every day and night with their activities and shows. What about the food? only one word: incredible. Everything included, just a dream. The kids love every moment of this vacation.
We went there with a company, just to escape New York's rush. It's good. The drinks are just fine, the food is good (3 out of 4) and the pools and the beach is amazing (4 out of 4). You can spend a "gain some pound, I'm tired of the society" weekend over there, but if you want shopping and clubs you'll better to find some place out of DR (or Punto Cana)
As is the case with the numerous all-inclusives I've been to, the food was hopeless. It will help you avoid starvation, but past that, it's sub-par at best. Other than that, the place was very pretty and it had a lot of good excursions to choose from. We would suggest staying at the pool because the random salespeople on the beach are uncomfortable. Overall, it's definitely one of the better choices on costa dorada. I would however, urge you to go to any other Caribbean island. Dominican isn't near as nice as the other choices in the Caribbean. Oh, and do Oceanworld, but only half a day. It doesn't take the whole day to do everything.
Your experience at this resort will likely have a lot to do with the room you are in. The standard rooms are in need of repair but there are remodeled buildings on the grounds that are modern, comfortable, and in good condition. (These buildings were painted white when we went.) We were first sent to a standard room. Comforters on the beds were torn in parts, the lampshades were stained, the bathroom was dingy, and most unacceptably of all, it reeked of a pungent chemical cleaner and old cigarette butts. We complained and although we had to persist and wait hours for a response, we were finally offered an upgraded room, complete with a whirlpool tub, cedar accents, and tasteful furnishings. The food at the buffet restaurant was excellent, as were the drinks offered throughout the resort. There were three other restaurant options, a seafood restaurant that was good, a foul Mexican restaurant which offered stale, dry food that was either tasteless or overly salty, and an Italian one we did not try. The attendants throughout the hotel were generally helpful and did not seem disgruntled with their jobs. They seemed more responsive than at other Puerto Plata resorts we have stayed at. The setting of the hotel is pretty, with a mountain in the background. The pool and crossing bridges are nice. The grounds are fairly charming. The beach is decent, neither stunning nor dismal. This resort is by no means perfect, but remembering that 1) You are in the Dominican Republic and 2) You are in Puerto Plata, this is a good choice. (Service and maintenance issues are common.) It is the best out of 3 resorts I have stayed in in Puerto Plata.
Fabulous!! I've already recommended it to a friend who went in May and also had a great time. It was the Spring Break I needed! (I'm a professor and needed the break more than my students!) The weather was perfect for the beach and I loved it!--plenty of chairs and refreshments. The room was cool and sparkling clean--with jacuzzi (and your staff kindly helped me in the directions for use) and a porch. And an absolutely beautiful pool with bridges that is glorious to see as well as be in. Am already planning to go back!
a spontaneous decision to try a Cheap Caribbean vacation. For the price, how bad could it be? It turned out to be one of ur best vacations ever. The hotel experience was wonderful., excellent service and the restaurants were very good. all top shelf liquor and varied choices of food. We were so surprise with the quality. But it was the Dominican Republic that captured our hearts. The people were so friendly. Not a single bad moment. We explored the island by going ziplining, river rafting near Santiago and horse back riding in the mountains. For a real experience jump on the local jitney and ride with the merry islanders to Sosua, a very quaint village by the sea. Walks along the endless beach, dancing at night under the stars, meeting so many interesting people, the days flew so quickly. We were sad to leave but we left with so many unforgettable memories. We would use Cheap Caribbean again and again and are already planning our next trip.
This resort is was exactly what we where wanting, Relaxing, Beautiful and didnt break our bank account. The inactive volcano in the distant background was so beautiful that we had to do the excursion to the top of it. The many resturants all were very good. The animation team was the best i have ever seen at a resort. They really got the crowd involved. I really cant say enough nice things about this resort, everything from the rooms to the beach were excellent. Had a great time and would definitely go back.
We had a group of 8 people, can not say anything better than great things, we enjoy the resort, the people, the pool, the ocean, we had everything within our reach. My husband was very happy because a disability problem we were able to get around everywhere with his walker, even walking into the pool !!!!!! Highly recommend this resort
