My buddy and I had a great time here. The food is decent during the afternoon and evening, but great during breakfast. The beach is unbelievable. We didn't go out to the bars on the strip, but stayed at the hotel because the drinks were free, strong, and the beach was perfect to relax on. Security seemed very lax, so girls make sure you are in a group or with guys. Definitely recommend for vacation.
My friends and I booked this hotel for Spring Break, and we had an amazing stay. It is located in the typical Cancun tourist area, so there were a lot of Americans around. The beach was beautiful and the waves were fun to swim in. It was also nice that it was all inclusive because we could use the bars and restaurants at our own convenience. The food was pretty good but different from home. The juices and fruit were the best part. If you go out of the resort where the clubs are be careful. It is a lot of fun, but I had my wristlet stolen. The workers at the hotel were very friendly. It is the perfect place for college students to go on vacation or a group of younger people at least during the spring break time period. Overall the stay was great.
This was my first trip on a plane and out of the United States! Everything went very smoothly and we had a wonderful time at Barcelo! We made alot of great new friends and the food was great! The only downfall was that a week before we got there, there was a hurricane, so there was no beach left. The pools were a great alternative though, with fun entertainment! We would definately book a trip with Cheap Caribbean and Barcelo again, and would recommend it to all of our friends!
this is the second time we stayed at this resot, and it is a nice resort.. the hotel is very clean the pools were crystal clear and regularly maintaned, and their was always something to do..
We had a wonderful time in Cancun!!! I was very concerned to go to Mexico because of all the negative press, but I can say with certainty that this was one of the best get-aways! The staff at the hotel were very nice, and went above and beyond to upgrade our room to a villa when they found out we were celebrating a birthday. The villa was well decorated, nothing over the top, and linens were changed daily. (I believe this is important when staying right on the beach with the sand & salt water.) The only thing that could have been better was the old TV in the front room, but we had a flat TV in the bedroom. Ultimately this was not a huge issue as we spent the majority of our "room time" out on our patio or in the hammock. A few things to keep in mind, as not everything can be perfect when traveling on a budget. For those who have a more refined taste when it comes to adult beverages, be advised that you will not be drinking top shelf liquor, and your hangover will remind you of it. Also, the food in the non-reservation restaurants looked appealing, but tasted like it was in the "eat to get the job done" category. Nothing highly recommended there except the fresh juice in every flavor. WHEN CHECKING OUT, be advised that you MUST GO TO THE FRONT DESK to physically check out or they will charge you. It is not like most other hotels in the States where you can simply leave your room and go on your way. We had to fight an hourly late charge because we dropped off our bags with the bell-man at noon and went shopping until our airport shuttle arrived. Once the front desk manager verified that we had dropped our bags, she removed the late charge. Other things we did while there: shop, wave runner tour & snorkeling at the reef, Coco Bongo (awesome!). We intend to go back again to visit the temple(s) (this is a full day tour) and visit some other sites we did not have time for.
Overall, food was good, staff was friendly, room was clean. Concerige was wonderful..convienant to many places. Beach had soft sand, several miles to run in bare feet.
we spent five days at the barcello tucancun beach in early march. the food was good and the service was excellent. i would recommend it as a good value. the beach was super.
Traveled 3-6-11 thru 3-13-11 Let me tell ya...The beach here is absolutely awesome! The sand extends out as far into the ocean as you can walk and is coral free. If you are an ocean lover and love to play in the surf this is the area for you. The waves are sometimes as high as 5ft as they hit the shallow water. The pools (3) are clean and while I was there warm. People have complained that the pools are not heated....well think about this...this is a tropical climate why in the world would you heat the pools? For a few weeks out of the year? Anyway the staff clean the pools continuously both in and around them. Alcohol was terrible. I am not picky about my surroundings generaly speaking as long as they are clean. However, this resort does not offer premium alcohol in your drinks unless you want it charged to your room. Yes its all inclusive, yes they have premium sitting out but you will not get it without paying extra. What this means is that your fruity frozen drink is not very tasty. Plenty of Corona however was warm. I was there during spring break (im 43) so there were lines for drinks at all bars. The food was not good. I read all the reviews before flying out and thought...what a bunch of whinning cry babies. Well I may be one of them. Breakfast was good...plenty of fruit, eggs, cheese, yogurts and pastries. Lunch was burgers and hotdogs (neither was good) and I love both. Lunch was generally a concoction of last nites left overs. Dinner was sometimes ok, but I had dinner at the so called seafood resteraunt and it was absolutely horrible...really it was. The food that wasn't horrible was just ok. Oh and Im on Mexico how about some mexican food. It was non-existant here. There was nothing that made me say..."wow thats good". Disappointing for me because I love food aand drink. Service was outstanding!!!!! Yes oustanding. Front desk staff was great. FERNANDO you rock and thanks for the room upgrade. THALIA and CONSUELO you ladies are gorgeous and brought me many mojitos (the best cocktail I had there). Thank you to all 3 of you. Remember something.....most complaints are NOT the fault of the service staff. Treat them kindly and you will be amazed at the kindness that is returned. Tip them a few bucks here and there, they work extremely hard for what they are paid. Because of the food and cheap booze I would not return, but the service was really good!
Hotel was good once I got my room .Pool activites were more than good. The dining was great especially breakfast and upscale dinining and the drinks were as often as you like. The hotel manager was Hector and he was a great help and Fernando at the front desk was terriuble. Richard and Luis (bellman ) were very helpfull.
The resort it self was at a great location, right next to the mall and bus stop. The beach and infinity pool was beautiful and clean. The food and the room, however was not up to par. The hotel must not have been insulated because, we can hear conversations next door, people walking around above us, and every time the door closes, the whole floor could hear. We stayed 5 nights and only allow two alacart dinners. The buffet lunch and dinner was pretty much the same every night.
