Very nice

I have been to several all inclusive resorts in Mexico/Caribbean area and this was one of the nicer resorts I have been too. It has several different places to eat on the premises other than the traditional buffet. You have to make reservations for some and you may even be asked to pay an additional fee depending on which location you go, but it is worth it. You also have the typical offerings for excursions available. I found the staff to be very friendly and the ones you need to interact with either spoke decent english, understood english or had a fellow employee nearby who could and would assist you.

Great deal for the money!!

I've read all the reviews and don’t understand how anyone could say anything negative about this resort considering the extremely reasonable price. I was thoroughly pleased with every aspect of my time spent here. The facilities and grounds were immaculate but the rooms could use some help. The food was standard but plentiful. You’re not in the states so you can’t expect food to look and taste as it does at home. The staff couldn’t be friendlier or do more for you. Being appreciative and passing out a few $1's goes a long way. I had fum with the mini-golf too.

Great! Cheap!

I've been here twice now to the same resort. it's the best you can get for your bucks! (4nights in April for $750 and same price for 7nights in June). April was perfect weather; June was slightly a different story as I got stuck in a storm for 3 out of the 7 days. The resort is nice, it's a nice stroll to walk around the premises. The pools are spread throughout, two of which has a swim up bar. The bartenders' services are great, make friends with them. Food is decent. Buffet with enough options to choose from. Also several locations to eat, which is nice. Be sure to make reservations for Las Olas Grill (included in All-inclusive) and the French Restaurant (not included as All-Inclusive). There are performances every night, along with a different "ice breaker" every night (where audience members are brought on stage). Yes, there are vendors on the beach who will try to sell you paintings, sculptures, necklaces, massages, braiding, etc. Be sure to check out the paintings and wooden sculptures, they make great authentic gifts. Overall, good experience here.

Last Minute Vacation

With literally last minute reservations, I took my friend to the Barcelo Capella Beach Resort. It was my birthday, and I was ready for a get away. I arrived on the day of the volcano which cancelled most European flights, so the hotel was quite full. The front desk staff were not friendly at all, and barely efficient, but the rest of the hotel staff made up for it with their smiles, their willingness to help, and general demeanor. The food was good, even in the buffet. As with most buffets at all inclusive resorts, it changed themes daily. The beach was amazing, with bath water temperatures, and crystal clear waters. The rooms were very clean, and the air conditioning worked really well. Over all, I would return. We had a nice time.

Good but not Great

This resort is good for someone who is not too demanding. I had a great time and enjoyed my stay. The weekends at this resorts are really busy as locals flood the resort therefore service is slower and worse during weekends. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. I thoroughly enjoyed the beach and the pools and enjoyed the night entertainment.

We went to the Barcelo Capella with a large group for a baseball tournament. The food was suprising good, the staff was so nice. The only complaint was the cleaniness of the rooms. We had a problem with small bugs (nat like) on the bathroom counter. There was also a leak in another room we booked. The way they fixed the leak was to move the bed over to avoid water on the bed. It was very difficult to get extra towels for the room & their version of a washcloth was a handtowel. If you take more than 1 shower per day you need to recycle the towels. I would shop around for a different hotel. Make sure to get to the beach early to get your chairs. But this is the same everywhere.

Good, but not great

The high points: - large, clean room - beautiful, well-maintained landscapes - peacocks and flamingos on site! - great weather - nice, large beach with warm water The middle points - food was generally OK, but tended to be overcooked - staff varied from very friendly to somewhat standoffish; service was also spotty (e.g., asking for two waters and a coffee at breakfast and instead getting one espresso) The low points: - we didn't drink the water, and STILL got 'sick'; we're thinking it was the fresh fruit... - needs more beach chairs - 'entertainment' seemed to be latin dancing every night... - 'bottom shelf' whisky and vodka tasted absolutely awful (and I'm no expert); stick to the rum Overall, if we had never been to an all-inclusive, we'd probably have been satisfied, but it didn't quite measure up to our experiences in Mexico.
