Gorgeous resort and beaches, but the food prices are outrageous. Great time overall.
My two children ages 10 and 6 and I went to atlantis and stayed at the Coral towers. It was a great and wonderful experience. We especially loved the accomodations and the activities that were planned each day. We look forward to staying again in the near future. Next time I think we will buy the meal plan because the food is rather pricey. Overall we had a wonderful vacation.
the water rides were a little far and half the things in the coral towers were closed including pools and bars because it was slow season!!!! no one told us!!!!! so we wanted to upgrade to the royal towers and they refused unless we paid full price because we used a travel agent i think this was terrible we asked to speak with a manager we waited for 45 minutes for a manager who never showed up twice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got a very bad taste especially that i go away to the islands 3 times a year was not happy with the staff making us wait 45 minutes two different days and no manager ever appeared. Another thing was i couldnt find my son went to securirty for help both inside and out I found him 4 hours later! all that securirty band they couldnt find a boy with an orange suit! I received a call from securiity that night asking if we ever found him ridiculous but the royal towers area and outside pools were beautiful. Their staff and security awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
This trip was my third trip to Paradise Island, last 2 were 14 years ago, when Atlantis was still mangrove swamp. Expect $12 and $14 mixed drinks at the bar, $8 bottles. Mesa Grill was booked solid the entire week, so ,make your reservations early. Water Tower in Nassau was closed for renovations, so save yourself some walking unless you want to look at the fort next to it. The hotel staff, with few exceptions, were so very polite. Wait staff in the Bahamian Club made me feel like a king during the meal. We had the Grill Plate for 2, $125, but had tenderloin, lobster tail, mutton chops, sausage, pork with bacon (bacon makes everything better), plus a ton of veggies, potatoes and fresh bread. The regular menu entree would have cost more by time a side and salad were ordered so we chose the Plate for 2. The staff grilled it right there at the table, meats were so tender, pork moist not dry. The only bad thing: there was just so much food, we couldn't eat it all, I felt guilty some of it was going to waste. The Maid hooked us up with some extra coffee pellets. I had taken a brick of Folgers but the coffee maker in room uses a single serving pouch, which we couldn't find for sale in the stores there. so I asked the maid for a few extras and she gave me a couple handfuls. Beach was beautiful. The Jetski and Parasail hawkers could grow on your nerves a bit, but, hey, turquise water, white sugary sand.....makes you forget. All the wildlife in the lagoons was breathtaking,,,,14ft long sawtoothed sharks, 7 ft hammerhead, black tip reef sharks, 4 ft manta, and all the little stingrays.... Place was so big, I didn't get to see the entire property. $15 BlackJack tables were full. My companion won $430 in slots during her first 20 minutes.... Be careful if you take the Booze Cruise....the sharks are not only in the water...almost got into a fight with a local who spiked my companion's drinks and tried to get her to leave with him under the pretext of going for jet ski ride.....she was hammered and he wouldn't let go of her hand when I was trying to get her into a taxi.... He never knew he was about 2.5 seconds away from getting his coconut cracked open. The included mixed drinks were weak (except for the special treatment above), $4 bottles at the top deck bar. Snorkeling was only about 25 min or so before we got called back to the boat. No fins were issued, just a vest, mask and snorkel. They stopped on the East end of the harbor channel at Athol....which I ddin't find very spectacular. Then we parked for about an hour on the West end of Athol where more jetski hawkers arrived. Lots of shells and coral on that beach for collecting but nothing spectacular. If you want to beach comb for exotics, take a day trip over to Rose where they aren't so picked over. Then the boat cruised down to Wyndham to drop off those passengers, and back to the old Paradise Island Fun Club, can't remember what its called now. Sunset dinner cruise was OK, food wasn't gourmet, more like what you would be served if invited to a family cook out. Entertainment was pretty good. Fire Dance Princess was a hoot. Limbo guy did some funny yet amazing moves. As you board, you got your photo taken, which was sold to you at the end for $10. I tried to get a helicopter tour but the new outfit hadn't received their operating certificate yet. I did give them some shooting locations for the James Bond movies for future use. I enjoyed myself, didn't stress about the drinks because I had alloted X amount. Certainly need to go back sooner...
like the previous reviews on this site the coral towers were expensive, but we knew this going in. We wanted to go one time to see the aquariums and the water park and they we both great. the feeding time at the aquariums was awesome, and the mile long lazy river was great. we had the cheap dining plan and it was ok, limited to two places and seagrapes was not good, but the marketplace had good food, both are buffetts. but if we didn't have the dining plan just at the marketplace buffett for 3 of us it would have been 180 a night for dinner. the room was comfortable, but the walls are paper thin and you hear everything in the next room. and since drinks are very expensive people go back to their rooms to party instead of the bars, it got pretty loud.. like i said early one time trip only.
Atlantis is the place to be. Everything was absolutly beautiful. I thought maybe choosing the Coral Towers over Royal Towers might have been a mistake but our room and view were amazing. There was so much to do on the island...we stayed 5 days and 4 nights and were not able to do even half of the things that Altlantis had to offer!
Although expensive, I would definitely go back! I loved all the surroundings, the convenience and the hotel service. We stayed in the Coral Towers and it seemed to be central to everything, which was really nice. All the pools, waterfalls, lagoons were so enjoyable. Every where you went there was something new to see. I loved the fact the beach was so close also and it was absolutely beautiful. OMG, the combination of the waves, sand and colors of the water was just phenomenal (I live on the gulf ; (). There were a lot of excursions to chose from, but in the short time we were there, we went on only one - The all day excursion to Rose Island, I would recommend this, it was nice to see a little more than just Paradise Island and be out in the waters on a catamaran. A must see. We also ventured into Nassau by walking across the bridge, which was a great exercise, but would have preferred the ferry that goes there, where we basically ended up at, by Senor Frogs and the market. We were so tired we took a taxi back! Overall, I just can't say enough, we enjoyed every day, we did the 45 minute raft ride throughout the resorts which was fun and the slide that takes you through the aquarium. The Dolphin Cay was not our thing but we did stop and look, it looked interesting and lots of people in the water for it. We bought our own liquor across the street, which was a lot cheaper than buying drinks, so that was great! I would definitely go back and try and do as many excursions as possible. Maybe rent our own boat and/or jet skiis. The people we encounted in and around the resort we're helpful and very nice. Our room was taken care of everyday. We had wonderful weather, but it is very humid there and our wet clothes never felt like they dried, but that was ok!!! Plus we did a lot of walking, so be prepared! Loved Paradise Island ; ) Thanks CheapCaribbean for this opportunity! Regards, Kat
My vacation far exceeded my expectation. I stayed in the Coral Tower with my 4 year old daughter and when I do this vacation again I will probably upgrade to the Royal Tower because it seems to be more centrally located and we dined at the Marketplace the most. My daughter would be tired of walking and forced me to carry her so I would upgrade. Either way, you can't go wrong. There are things to do by all the Towers. All the employees there were so friendly and offered help when asked.
