Perfect for relaxing

Fantastic staff! Great place to slow down from a hectic lifestyle and enjoy the sun and peace. Wonderful beach. Only two choices for restaurants and bars, but the evening menu changes daily.

Beware of buying from CheapCaribbean

We recently stayed at Alsol deal mar for our honeymoon. We arrived shortly after check in time at 3:30. It took around an hour for them to find our cheap Caribbean reservation after trying to charge us an extra $940 and get us checked in. They also wanted us to pay an added on $260 for extra charges we may make throughout the week. We were then told it would be another thirty minutes before our room was ready. I splurged on booking and paid an extra $120 to get the upgraded honeymoon suite because of the jacuzzi on the balcony and nice tub in the room. However, we were told there was no honeymoon suite upgrade and were put in an ocean loft room with no tub. It was very hard to communicate with the staff at the resort. We were told we could change rooms the next day, then when the time came no one knew what we were talking about. Finally a nice girl at the front desk was able to move us but told us it wouldn't be until 4 days into our trip. We did finally get moved to a very nice room that is described as the one bedroom suite. There are only two restaurants at the resort and only one is open at a time. One is open for a buffet breakfast and sit down dinner and the other is open for lunch by the pool. The food was very good just a limited selection. We went to the tiara resort one night for a beach bbq. It was a $3 taxi ride away, you just have to get a meal voucher from the front desk. Overall the resort was very clean and well kept. The staff was so nice and hardworking. There were pool games every day but nothing going on for nightlife after dinner. In early August there were probably only about 50 people staying at the resort so it was very quite and there were always pool chairs available.

Do not stay here

Pros: beautiful pool. Cons: no a/c in room entire week of stay after many complaints. No food choices. Flies all over food at indoor breakfast Buffett. Very small beach area. No entertainment. Entire resort shuts down by 9 pm. Never refilled mini bar or coffee supplies. They do not put any effort into your stay. Poor service. Spent a week here. Worse vacation ever. Very disappointed. Boring resort.

Loved the resort! Went on vacation with my family of 8. Visited in July (the low season). Couldn't have been better!! A smallish resort with the lack of traffic that I was hoping for. Uncrowded, with friendly staff and guests. Was unrushed and relaxed. The menu in the main restaurant is changed daily. Never a problem with seating for any meal (spoke with other Punta Cana visitors who could not make the same claim). The staff at alsol "bent over backward" to accommodate any request. Would recommend alsol del mar to anyone.

Paradise in Punta Cana!

Upon arriving, we received a warm greeting and cold beverage as we checked in. We had a suite with private hot tub near the swimming pool, bar and beach. Our room was perfect. I wouldn't change a thing except the maid service. They forgot to replace our drinks so we were having to remember to get them from the restaurant and bring them home for the evening. They did an amazing job cleaning though and were very good about leaving us alone when we wanted privacy. The service from the restaurant to the swim up bar was truly beyond compare. They went out of their way for us. The last night we had a "romantic beach dinner." It was extraordinary. They set it up for us. We had fresh lobster, champagne, wine, vegetables and soup. I highly recommend that for a different and exquisite experience. The table was surrounded by votives and set up right by the waves. The waiter catered to us all night. Photos don't do this place justice. It's truly paradise! We did the all inclusive package. I recommend that as well. The food and drinks are amazing but it keeps it much more affordable. Enjoy!

Resort was ok at best

I spent 5 nights at the resort. The pool and beach are great and the people are friendly for the most part but there was a rather significant language barrier. The worst part of the trip was the lack of air conditioning in my room. I requested that I either be moved rooms or the a/c fixed on multiple occasions, each request was ignored. At one point, my room was 85 degrees. This obviously made sleeping difficult and went all 5 nights with hardly any sleep. The food was decent I guess but there is only one restaraunt on the grounds. I will not be staying at this resort again.

Alsol Del Mar

Very nice, relaxing, no children, hideaway. Private beaches, excellent service, fun, entertaining, food could be better, but for all you get who cares! just make sure to go in the city and get some real Dominican food, rice and red beans and empanada's. Superb place to go...will be my new home away from home!

Great Vacation

It was a wonderful vacation. Alsol Del Mar is a great resort, the staff is friendly and very helpful. We traveled with two children ages 6 and 4, and could not ask for better accommodations. We stayed in one bedroom sweet, and it was spacious and very clean it had 1.5 bathroom and full kitchen. There is a washer and dryer in the sweet, but the detergent has to be purchased at the concierge (or bring a mini pack with you). The resort is small and there is not much of evening entertainment, but that was more than OK with us, as we were looking for a relaxing family vacation. No chair or towel hunting, and there was no problem getting a beach cabana. The food was great and lunch and dinner menus change daily. My daughter is allergic to nuts and we had no episodes. When we asked the waiters about ingredients in the food, they were always helpful and asked the chef. We had no allergy related issues. Overall it was great and we will be back for our next family vacation.
